  • Are you ready to race report? Yeah you are, ultra ready even ;) . So our tale begins at 4:55 on Saturday morning when, while turning the corner to the brewhouse that was hosting our mandatory race meeting at 5, I had a heart attack when 10 people raced past me. Holy blanking blank, was I late?! Did I just travel and train…
  • Thanks @MNLittleFinn, @midwesterner85 , @garygse , @PastorVincent , @juliet3455 and @Runningmischka ! Was a great race, there are areas where I could've run it better and placed maybe 2nd for women rather than 3rd (like not squandering my epic lead by running 6k roundtrip in the wrong direction in the first loop- legs 1/2…
  • @skippygirlsmom that is a legit nightmare. I have weirdness surrounding needing to be early so I 200% would've cried with you! We are presently driving through this excitement :D
  • @Orphia yes thats the 50- my bib number was announced yesterday, #530 !!! Have fun at the Melbourne Marathon Festival! I want a festival of marathons dammit :D
  • @skippygirlsmom I am up to run at 3AM six days a week. The way I see it is that pain and sleep are secondary to showing the girls that if you devote yourself to an idea, if you struggle for it that you can make it happen. What we show them always matters more than what we tell them- Skip is a pretty amazing testament to…
  • @juliet3455 yikes what will your brothers do since its looking like the frost is set in for good now? I can't see that many +15 days left :( . I'll think good thoughts for the rest of their harvest. I agree you can't go wrong on the pricing with MEC. Have you run the Hypo Half before? A bunch of women in my trail group…
  • So my husband decided at lunch that because of the timing of my PT tune up tomorrow morning that we are now leaving for Whistler, get this....tomorrow :# . Upon texting my mom and telling her this she asked me, "How do you feel about that though?". My response is a brilliant example of calm and poise :D  At least my…
  • I figure I might fall into the category of "quite high mileage" :D . I am less than a week out from a 50 miler but the plan for my off season is to maintain 20k or so a day Tuesday-Friday, long run 40k+ Saturday, secondary long run between 30-35. Once I get closer to the on season again (January or so against an invitation…
  • @garygse killer race report! Your selfie game is much more on point than mine :D @eponine1984 I started out brutally slow and unable to run a full block. I don't run bad times at this point, they could be better but thats why we train! I went out this morning dreading that the run would be under 10k- anything under 15k…
  • @garygse congrats on a killer first marathon! Great finish time! @kristinegift your sign was so cute! October 1- 28+7 October 2- 18 October 3- 20 October 4- 15 October 5- 18 October 6- Off October 7- 32 October 8- 18 October 9- 13 169/450km
  • Happy gobble gobble @juliet3455, @sarahthes , et al! Had a great run this morning just here in town, came home and made breakfast, turkeying down as we speak. I have a feeling this week, unlike our delicious turkey friend, is going to fly by :# October 1- 28+7 October 2- 18 October 3- 20 October 4- 15 October 5- 18 October…
  • Last "long" run before race day! Good weather for it, and I really wanted to keep going :( . I guess on the plus side this time next Saturday I'll already be 4 hours into all the miles :D October 1- 28+7 October 2- 18 October 3- 20 October 4- 15 October 5- 18 October 6- Off October 7- 32 138/450km
  • Beautiful photos @shanaber ! Congratulations to your girl and her new husband <3
  • @skippygirlsmom Ouch! I hope your ribs are less angsty in a couple of days. I wreck myself on trail a lot honestly because I am famously stupid for trying to run my roads pace on tech trail- has me bleeding every time :D . Looks like you and Skip had a great day anyway. @RespectTheKitty are you considering running in the…
  • @7lenny7 who knew PBR got into the toe healing biz ;) . Hope its looking better tomorrow! @girlinahat I too like to rely on my eyes running the dark wherever possible. I often see people with their lamps on at sunrise and I wonder about them :D October 1- 28+7 October 2- 18 October 3- 20 October 4- 15 October 5- 18…
  • @WhatMeRunning you are brave my friend. The idea of barefoot (or sockfoot ;) ) running makes me cringe. I would destroy myself on trail! @navygrrl I am so sorry about the break! Thinking healing thoughts for you <3 @MNLittleFinn no knee weirdness for you!!! @juliet3455 Sounds like a good run! Soccer players are wicked fast…
  • It was a crisp -6 (21 for you fahrenheit enthusiasts :D ) this morning, loved it. Trying to figure how far out from Whistler I should schedule my last PT appointment for my piriformis. I think Wednesday night (racing Saturday morning) is a good stretch? So much more precision needed on this one :/ October 1- 28+7 October…
  • @skippygirlsmom that is a huge distance jump for him to spring on XC kids at the last minute. While I am pro all the miles for stamina building with built in speedwork I think its inappropriate for the teams' purposes. Its not like he's going to be sending Skip and company to 26.2+ races! Speed work on its own sounds more…
  • So I just realized I am close enough to race day to stalk the Weather Network!!! I freaking love running in the rain! Best race weather ever, if that holds true I am so jazzed <3
  • So this may be influenced by my meds (I find Wellbutrin XL a little speedy if I time it wrong) but I am amped up for at least six hours post long run. If I were to run late in the day I would sleep even less than I already do. Helpful for me since I run early morning though!
  • @girlinahat great secondary goal! I think there is a group of ladies on MFP that do sobriety challenges, have you linked up with them? So many GI issues this morning, ugh. October 1- 28+7 October 2- 18 53/450km
  • This one dives me .5 and takes me from healthy on the old scale to underweight on the new.
  • @BettyM1017 I LOVE the AG bling- beautiful! Congrats on keeping on @katharmonic - I too would trip on the unseen cone ;) @MNLittleFinn so excited for her and her friend! She'll have a great coach in you! Proud of you for getting out there @RespectTheKitty ! And @skippygirlsmom remember to eat mama- don't make us tell Skip…
  • On the same wave length as @MNLittleFinn today apparently as I also cut it short to feed the fam (though I was mean to my children and made them omelettes instead of pancakes, they'd have been hella jealous). Now to go grocery shopping! October 1- 28 28/450km
  • You know I'm all about being conservative @MNLittleFinn :D ! I'd say your goal is good given you actually taper like a normal person and you're only three weeks out from Duluth!!! I feel like it was last week you were deciding whether or not you'd transfer to the higher distance- exciting!!!
  • @power0304 I'm gonna like you- all the miles!!! Haha! So this month is Whistler 50 Miler (TWO WEEEEEKS!!!!) and I feel like I should put a more conservative mileage goal in to pretend like I taper lol. But me soooo...in for 450k :)
  • Closing out September a bit above my goal of 600k/375mi at 705k/440mi. Feeling like I got in the miles I needed to be confident in my ability to hit Whistler hard in two weeks (TWO WEEKS!). See all you movers and shakers in October! September 1- 23 September 2- 60 September 3- 30 September 4- 20.6 September 5- Off…
  • @HonuNui I was thinking about you and Steve today. My oldest girl did her first Terry Fox run at school and I really wasn't sure how in depth they were going to explain cancer and the Marathon of Hope to 4 and 5 year olds. When I picked her up I asked her what she learned today (point of note: my kid is in Catholic school…
  • @MNLittleFinn sorry work is zapping your energy- working for the weekend for real! I have never had a wolf encounter actually, I wonder if we have many up here. I'll have to ask Ben when he gets home!
