Wimped out at 18 when my eyelashes froze together. Achilles is bugging me but expected since I'm transitioning from an 8mm drop to almost exclusively a 4mm drop. Wore three pairs of tights this morning- thighs fared better even if they looked huge from the mega layer job! A lot of very disgruntled deer hanging out :# November 1- 18+8 November 2- 22 November 3- 20 November 4- 42 November 5- 20 130/500km 2018 Races *JAJA Trail Marathon, April 1 *Red Deer Marathon, May 20 *Cactus…

Yeah BC could spoil a girl quickly ;) . I've been in Alberta 22-23 years?? Not that the winter in Newfoundland is some vast improvement mind you, but wet cold and dry cold are different animals for sure.
-
@skippygirlsmom glad Skip is okay- I hope your insurance comes through for you! @PastorVincent that sounds bad *kitten* and fun romping around the slopes of Vermont. Eff the chair lift though, I get cold too fast as it is lol @MNLittleFinn and @bride001 it's honestly not that bad when you've lived in it forever. But, as…

Haha thanks! The part of the province we are in sees -30 to -40 for the majority of the winter. Bring the pain Canada :D
-
@katharmonic happy birthday!!! All the fun beverages for you ;) @fitoverfortymom glad your calf handled well on the 8! @eponine1984 what a cutie! Today's 42.2 brought to you by the number -23, because that's what the temp was for the majority of my run today :D . My thighs are borderline frost bitten because I really need…

I can't remember right now because my brain is toast- is anybody in here in WA? Anyone have any knowledge of the Pigtails 200 Miler out of Renton? When I was setting up my UltraSignUp account for LSU (reg date January 18 :# ) I stumbled across it and now I am intrigued...obviously for 2019 because I'm not *that* stupid :D…
-
As always @MobyCarp is doling out awesome advice- definitely listen to this @kidrauhldrew ! And remember some of the higher mileage hitters in this challenge group are crazy people, you know, like @MNLittleFinn :D
-
@MNLittleFinn I'm considering it ;) . I really wanted to run Black Spur Ultra from the Sinister series first but it's too close to LSU. CDR is too close to In the Buff. So Sin is the only Gallant race I can plausibly swing this year. I am presently trying to talk myself down from registering in the next couple of weeks for…
-
@MNLittleFinn you can do it! Just go at it until you can't feel feelings anymore <--- personal strategy fyi :D Meanwhile @PastorVincent is over here killing it! I want Garmin in my life :( Well I really wish I lived near @RunsOnEspresso , @skippygirlsmom , @shanaber or @MobyCarp where my people (aka. the moms who live in…

I think he probably hears stuff like that a lot so don't be embarassed. I find most of the people I know who run full marathon or higher either eat to amazingly precise macros with a great micro spread or they have a tendency towards dietary shenanigans thanks to running culture all but fetishizing food. I have so many…

@MNLittleFinn are we living the same weather life? This tragedy that is our trailer gate off the front of the house- I've already shoveled it out twice today -_- @skippygirlsmom I'm sorry Skip had such a rough go but I'm glad she has a wise coach in her corner. Thinking good thoughts for her <3 @_nikkiwolf_ okay do you get…

@PastorVincent thanks for the thorough feedback re: North Face. Their stuff is so $$$ but it looks so nice when I walk through MEC sobbing over the gear that got away ;) . Might have to give it a go when Ben gives me my gear allowance in the new year! So now that our washing machine is fixed and I no longer have to wash…
-
It'd take a lot more than snow, ice and -30 temps to get me to stop trail running so, you know, trail running :D
-
Congrats on registering for Zumbro @7lenny7 ! The course looks like a party- you and @MNLittleFinn are going to have fun! @PastorVincent at what temp do you actually break that outfit out for? Also, how do you like North Face's jackets? Got to run lots of great ice this morning! Nothing like trail shoes and ice to wake you…
-
Haha @juliet3455 I knew you'd be in on this vert discussion! Semi-related but have you run any of Brian Gallant's races in years past? I am so attracted to the Sinister triple even though I know I'm not a good enough runner :D
-
That is an awesome course assessment @7lenny7 ! Re: Colorado, I ran Banff with a woman from CO who was convinced that the Canadian rockies were "Colorado on steroids" and that she would never return :D . If you're looking for good vert our ultras have it
-
@rusgolden I personally wouldn't worry about the hills if that elevation profile is accurate and you've done some hill work in your training. The only people who I can see struggling with that are people who are training exclusively flats. If you are used to running trail it looks like no problemo to me :) ! @MNLittleFinn…

Taking today off to cart my kids to the many Halloween events around town between school drop offs, concerts and trick or treating. Happy Halloween from Wonder Woman, Lippy Lipstick and emo Cinderella- we hope your mileage in October was spooktacular ;) And for those of you looking for a fright, my post 100k feet :D…
-
Well @MNLittleFinn according to Garmin you'd destroy me on the full :D
-
@BruinsGal_91 these husbands I tell you! Ben started couch to 5k last week and informed me he'll better my marathon PB of 3:28 by forty minutes by JUNE. He also thinks he will be able to beat my Whistler 50 time by next October. He apparently doesn't think I'm a very good runner :p Give him hell and don't doubt yourself.…
-
Lmao I mean I could pretend that I cross train :D
-
In for 500k.
-
True af. The majority of the drops I saw at Whistler or that I know of at CDR and Sin 7 when friends have run them happened to people who were uninjured and 100% fit enough to get it done- they mentally didn't have what it took on those days and it ended them. Fortify your mind and you can take an ultra <3
-
2 months @Orphia - you know you couldn't stay away that long silly lady ;) @PastorVincent come to the ultra side- we have cool stories about crying in the woods :D . Seriously though I feel you on the training struggle, Saturdays I need to start getting up earlier against distance increase I think :/ Only got 10 in this…
-
@bride001 I know a few women who run 100 milers who do 2 40-50k runs 12 hours apart to simulate the conditions associated with sleep deprivation (this only works if you stay awake between the two runs mind you). In that circumstance it would be helpful. Also, for runners who aren't accustomed to running on tired legs like…
-
@WandaVaughn I'm sorry about your buddy! Not that there is a "right" person to suffer heart disease but it seems like more and more it is afflicting the wrong people. @juliet3455 I know I couldn't do a week if I wasn't injured, I'd go crazy :( . From the state of my right foot I think I might just hit 10-15k in the morning…
-
@Orphia partially because I just wanted to (to give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift, right?) and partially because my trainer wanted a 100k speed baseline for us to work from while we build towards LSU100 next year. I actually pared down a lot because I knew from Whistler that my piri would be shot…
-
Yes @Orphia , no water drops, no third party assistance- me, tech trail and what I can carry on my back. A lot of people who train ultra distance do it basically crewed like they would for a race.
-
I think this will be different for different people. When some people run long they report suffering from "runger". As someone who basically only exclusively runs long distance at this point I actually find the opposite to be true and basically only have issues on rest day. YMMV so I would try both training variances to…
