  • I've been experimenting with making my own seasonal flavors from plain greek yogurt: Gingerbread - Add molasses, ginger, maple syrup to yogurt. Sprinkle cinnamon on top and/or granola pieces (better yet, cinnamon granola). Cranberry Orange - Add a bit of orange juice (orange juice concentrate would be better), honey, dried…
  • You have the exact same weight as my weigh-in yesterday and I do feel weak under a certain weight (for me it seems to be 200). I'm still trying to figure out what is optimal for me, but I have reduced my volume and number of reps based on some stuff I've seen around the internet. I do remember watching a Starting Strength…
  • There seems to be multiple types of "Woo" being discussed: 1> Complete junk science: Blood type diets, Alkaline diets 2> Has some legitimate ideas, but can be cultish: Paleo 3> Health food fad du jour: Protein, green tea, pomegranate
  • I tend to switch to IF when my calorie goal make the three meals too small. I can do three meals of 700 calories, but when I go to 3 x 600 calories I'm perpetually hungry. Then I switch to IF and skip breakfast and have two 900 calories meals. I tend to have more will power in the morning and the hunger does seem to…

  • I gained 4 lbs. during weekend before and through the 4th of July. Dropped 3.8 of them in two days afterwards.

  • The Traditional Greek was tasted OK and is a bit calorie dense for the protein content, 710 calories with 23 grams. I limit myself to the Turkey one which is 450 calories with 25 gram of protein
  • Canned sardines and mackerel.
  • I appreciate people looking seriously about what is in their food and where it came from, however just like other aspects of fitness and nutrition subject to zealotry and quackery (e.g. "Food Babe").

  • I've been finding that canned mackerel good way to help you hit your daily protein goal. Just sprinkle some Cavender's All-Purpose Greek Seasoning on it for some flavor. Want find other ways utilize it in recipes.
  • Never saw the mini-series or read the book. Trailer looked like "Stranger Things".
  • I bought an Arby's Traditional Greek Gyro thinking it's macros would be comparable to the roast beef gyro. Ay Caramba!, 710 calories with 23g protein vs 520 calories with 25g protein. Sticking with the roast beef or turkey gyros for now on.
  • I hate that I cut open an avocado today and it the pit made most of the volume. There wasn't as much actual avocado. #FirstWorldProblem
  • Striving to be have decent strength via lifting and run a respectable 5K.
  • I'm looking to cycle calories intake to improve energy levels during training and aid recovery. The experiment will be to eat at a slight surplus if I plan to lift that day and the day after. The third day will have a deficit created via fasting (skipping breakfast).
  • - Climb / Hike up a fourteener (Pike Peak Barr Trail would suffice) - Hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, camp, and hike back up. - Hike Mt. Washington - Some kind of epic bikepacking trip. (maybe Maah Daah Hey Trail)
  • There are no "magic" foods for me, but here are three staples recently: - Canned sardines (reach my daily protein goals and get some Omega-3s) - Kirkland protein bars (protein and fiber) - Greek yogurt
  • I'm 50 and hoping to do a triathlon this summer. I don't have any diet suggestions other than what you probably already know. That is to use MFP to track calories and eat at a slight deficit. You could try Intermittent Fasting. It seemed to help me break a weight loss plateau once. I don't see it as a "silver bullet", but…
  • Positive Experiences: - The first time I had Crab Meat Alfredo at Red Lobster (of all places). - A smoked salmon + cream cheese omelet I had at a bed and breakfast in Maine.
  • Eminem - Lose Yourself is IMHO the single best workout song on my playlist. There are other Eminem songs on the playlist along some AC/DC.
  • Turned 50 last month. Spent the previous year and a half getting in shape for it. Had to fight through nagging pains that eventually I got through. This morning I weighed less than 200 lbs. for the first time in 20+ years. I was 230 lbs at 47. Every year one waits makes it a little more difficult to get in shape.
  • I like Costco Kirkland protein bars. I've heard Quest bars are a lot like them. There are only two flavors Chocolate Brownie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
  • I'll be 50 in Dec. 2016. Weigh about 205 currently. Was 230 a couple of years ago. Want to get to < 200 and then I'm OK with bulking back up to 205 or so to hit some strength goals with the weights. Also, want to try a triathlon next year or better yet, an xterra (have mountain bike only).
