I'm sorry you're so sore! That'll probably be the last time you forget your cart, though. Rest as much as you can for a few days. We've all of us gone a little overboard with exercise from time to time -- but that sounds like a really hard slog for you. Hope you feel better soon!

Dirk Gently might actually be able to make the whole thing make sense. (But only with a time machine.)

This might be an overreaction, but for a brand new doctor -- with no real knowledge of your history -- to tell you out of the blue that she had a "really good referral to a weight loss surgeon" would raise a red flag for me.

One-stop shopping, I guess.

That's just what my husband said, and I'm tempted myself, only it might be rude to laugh in the middle of her spiel. I've dealt with her before; a few years ago she set herself up as a coach for some DVD exercise program and was pushing it hard at various events. I'm guessing this is just more of the same, now with more…

Of Refeeds and Diet Breaks. Maybe this will be helpful.

£50-60 per week sounds like an awful lot for one person's groceries -- and not even including household incidentals. You can do a lot better for yourself for the money. I think @BlueRosie80 has the right idea -- look into recipes that you like and cook for yourself.

I watched (on FB) a friend lose 100+ pounds over eighteen months. When she hit maintenance, her face was positively gaunt, and I thought she looked dreadful. She's been doing a lot of backpacking and trailwalking with her husband, and over time her weight has shifted and settled. She looks terrific now, months later. It's…

Oh, that sounds delicious! I'm going to give that a try this week -- thanks!

I like the Quest Hero bars -- they're a new discovery for me. More like a candy bar, but still filling, and with more protein/fewer carbs than I expected. I was a little worried about possible *ahem* digestive effects from the allulose, but so far nothing bad.

Butter. About 10-12g. Saute the veggies/ham (onion, spinach & diced ham FTW!), and pour the eggs over. A gourmet dish called "Scrambled Eggs and Stuff". A little sriracha and I'm good to go.

If you need to count calories for the rest of your life, then do it. It's not burnout for everyone. Good on you, OP, for getting back to it with a relatively small amount of weight to lose.

If you're not supposed to eat any meat, nor any carbs, what ARE you eating? Vegetables are carbs. Also, 1000 calories is too low for any woman (1200 is the bare minimum), and with your exercise output you are far undereating yourself.

As a tool for weight loss, especially when diabetes, insulin sensitivity and related issues are involved -- as someone who benefits greatly from lower carb, I hope it stays to help more of us. But yeah, the "low carb/keto as magic" can fade out soon.

I started out averaging 3-4K steps daily. It took several months to get up to hitting 10K on the regular, but it comes with its own momentum. The more I moved, the more I was inspired to move. From what I've read, that's a pretty common occurrence, so you have good things to look forward to! Take your time doing this -- no…

All too true, my friend. Today's a new day, start fresh. If you're concerned about an unsustainable deficit for too long, take a look into the Of Refeeds and Diet Breaks thread. There's a very good thread recap in the first post. And I'd put a muzzle on that friend.

I'll be 60 in two weeks. I've been fat ("overweight" doesn't cover it) all my life and although I've lost substantial weight a few times, it never stuck. 18 months ago I was diagnosed with diabetes and have finally been scared straight. I could wish that that happened years ago, but here we are. I've lost close to 90 lbs…

Mardi Gras, literally Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent. Christian fasting for Lent goes back many hundreds of years, and the idea behind Fat Tuesday celebrations was to eat up all the eggs, butter and other things that would go bad if not eaten promptly. Pancakes are a simple…

Isopure Low Carb dutch chocolate. Not quite Nestle's Quik, but close enough.

Diced avocado tossed with diced plum tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion and Caesar or Italian dressing. Yummers.

When you save your recipe, make sure you give it a name you'll recognize again -- Kimma's Meatloaf, or some such. There are a bajillion meatloaf recipes on the site.

It's never notified me to recalculate. I just do it myself every 5-7 lbs or so.

Every time this comes up to the top of the posts I think, "Well, where have you looked for it?" I've lost a two-month-old calf, myself. (Sorry if this is a non-discovery; haven't read 46 pages of posts yet.)

Patience is half the magic. Tracking calories, staying within your allowance, and eating food that you like and leaves you not-hungry for several hours is the other half. We didn't put the weight on overnight, and it won't come off overnight. There isn't anything in the world that patience won't make easier.

Between you and Aadam I'm closing up a lot of the gaps in my understanding of the psychology -- and the physiology. Thanks.

Oh, there's lots of us. I'll actually be 60 in three weeks, so I include myself. I've lost 89 lbs or so in the past year, because:* I stopped trying to find the magic fix for my weight -- no more weird diets! * I figured out (slowly) what balance of carbs, protein & fat work best for me * I got used to the fact that this…

I tried that, too, only with vanilla protein powder. It tasted so strange that I wondered if I just had used an incompatible brand of protein. So many people on the boards here swear by it, I thought it'd be a great addition to my repertoire. I'm just sticking with grated apples and cinnamon in my oatmeal, and I'll save…

Every morning, and track it on HappyScale. When I weighed once a week, it became an Event and I obsessed. Now it's just data points, as pinuplove said, and useful to see how things are going over the longer term.

That rate of loss WILL slow down, and it'll have nothing to do with what you're eating. As your absolute weight goes down, the percentage of body weight that you can lose may well stay the same, but it will be the same percentage of a smaller number. It won't reflect on you or your food (probably), but it will happen.…
