You'll probably be pretty active camping, but depending on the kind of camping you do, you can always add additional activity in. I like to go jogging/hiking/walking in the mornings if there are trails. Even if there aren't trails or you're in bear country and its a bad plan to run alone, you could do a little morning…

i like running intervals outdoors (30 sec sprint; 1:30 walk- there are free timers in the app store). 30 minutes goes by a lot faster for me doing this than it did in steady state running, which I hate, despite having been a soccer player most of my life.

my go tos: - pre cooked chicken (either prepped ahead, from the deli case, or frozen) - surimi - eggs (lots of ppl swear by boiling a dz at the beginning of the week) - protein shakes - turkey pepperoni (this may not play well with sodium) - deli lunch meats

I travel a ton for work, mostly driving, and McDonald's all day breakfast has saved my life. There are not many places you can can get a sandwich for 300 calories with 17g of protein that can be eaten with one hand while driving a car, but the Egg McMuffin absolutely can. Is it ideal? no. Is life ideal? Absolutely not. the…

I guess the point that I didn't fully round out is that this breakfast contains 29 grams of sugar + an additional 22 grams of carbs. So 51gm of carbs (which is half my total allowance) in one meal, only 14gm of that from fiber. It's not an unhealthy breakfast, but you probably have to compensate with a very low carb lunch…

Everyone's body is completely different. For me, personally, the whole "eat small meals and snack" thing absolutely does not work. I feel hungry constantly, and then i fall into a trap of overeating. I personally prefer to drink coffee for breakfast (eating in the morning triggers my migraines, no clue why), a relatively…

I think the translation here is: - if you eat a lot of fatty meats and don't carefully count calories, you run the risk of eating too many calories, or not getting full because you ate a ton of fat calories instead of protein calories which make you feel fuller AND - if you're doing a body recomp, high protein/lower carb &…

I'm going to second the comment about watching your sugar, and correct your calorie content on honey. One ounce of honey has 86 calories and 22 grams of sugar, a Fage 0% yogurt has 7g of sugar, the quest bar is great with only 1 g of sugar (they're getting the sweetness in with non-nutritives, which is fine). 29grams of…

batch cooking chicken is great (or if you're lazy like me, buy the rotisserie chickens cooked at the store and pull the skin off), boiled eggs (not my thing), I eat a lot of surimi (crab stick) as well, and I do use protein powders. I found that i'm not allotted enough calories in the day to really be eating complex carbs…

I'm just like you... food in the morning makes me nauseous, and I have also been lectured. Do what works for you. Personally, if i eat in the morning I feel like crap and I eat more calories throughout the day.

i like muscle milk light cookies and cream

grilled/BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, steak, clambake (i have no idea if this is possible where you live), tex/mex or mexican (fajitas or tacos, you can always eat w/out the tortilla), homemade chicken noodle soup or chili if its still cold where you are, collards, succotash...

Definitely speak with a doctor. Its probably just stopping the met, but you need to rule out thyroid, cushings, and unusual edema secondary to other causes. If you have any sense at all that this might be fluid retention and not pure weight gain, please go to a doctor right away, as unusual fluid retention is often a…

Literally the same thing happened to me. I was logging religiously and usually under my calorie goal. I wasn't losing weight, but the SO swore up and down that my shape was changing. Suddenly in about two weeks I was down 7lbs. Our theory is twofold- 1) I was DEFINITELY not drinking enough water, so my body seemed to be…

For me, personally, I'm trying to do a recomp and I find that I can't eat enough protein to sustain the muscle gains AND eat a lot of complex carbs... I'm not allotted enough calories in a day for that.

I'm eating 1200 currently, trying to lose another 7 or so lbs on top of the 7 i've lost and do a massive recomp. I sometimes find I actually struggle to get enough calories, here is what a typical day looks like for me: breakfast- two cups of coffee with non-dairy creamer and a very small amount of sugar lunch around noon-…

Lard is the bomb. Having said that, most restaurants that make homemade tortillas do not skimp on the lard at all, which makes tortillas a bad choice. I worked in a mexican restaurant for years and if we ran out of the homemade we could pull the sysco out of the back... diners always complained that they were stale, dry or…

Which ThinkThin bar are you eating?

Maybe replace that granola bar with a protein shake?

Everything in moderation. Peanut butter is extremely calorie dense- 1 tablespoon has 94 calories, 8 grams of fat, 1.5g of sugar, and 4g of protein. One or two tablespoons isn't a bad idea. A quarter of cup will give you more than half of your fat calories for an entire day.

Other good choices are a quality vodka or gin with soda water... or a quality rum or whiskey neat or on the rocks. Red wine isn't bad at 125 cal/ 5oz glass. I always try to buy decent reds or red blends, I find that I want less if its a really complex wine. I find that if i'm drinking cheap wine I'm pouring it down my…

CHAMPAGNE (or prosecco, sparking wine, cava, etc). I do not drink hard liquor because it turns me into a crazy person. On the beer/wine only train, sparkling has one of the best ABV to Calorie ratios, so you don't need a whole bottle to get a good buzz (110 cal/ 5oz/ 12.5 abv).

You may want to start focusing your workouts on strength training (to build muscle mass, tone, shape) and some HIIT (to reduce body fat) or Circuits (does both). It sounds like your body composition is changing and you may be gaining fat where there once was muscle. I found that this was an unfortunate reality of getting…

Someone was telling me about Aldi last night at a game of thrones watch party. I haven't been since the late 1990s and back then it was decidedly not good- weird processed cheeses that don't melt, terrible off brand cereals, frozen veg that turned to mush. I am told that Aldi is now basically amazing and has food that is…

Yes. Religiously. My credit card company actually does it for me and it pops up as a little graph on their website. I used to recommend Mint.com to people religiously though. When we're overspending or strapped for cash, it instantly shows us where we're blowing the budget.

I don't have kids and I do this. If you live in the Southeast IHeartPublix.com releases the publix flyer 3 days early (monday instead of thursday). Every monday morning i log on, take stock of everything that is super cheap/on sale/bogo and add it to my list. I menu plan my entire week around that list and my macros, and…

I personally eat a lower carb diet than most because I like the changes I see in my body composition when I eat high protein/lower carb, but even then I'm doing a 33% split across macros. I carb cycle as a way of getting a few days in where I can have a big bowl of spaghetti or a baked potato. However, if you're doing low…

I didn't notice in the article, but did they track the contestant's diet and exercise habits consistently over the 6 years? It would be interesting to factor in any crash dieting or massive calorie reductions and see what that did to overall metabolism. My theory above (based on literally zero science) is that once the…

This is a really interesting study. But, as a lot of people have mentioned, the effects aren't necessarily shocking. When you think about the human body as a whole, we've been around for about 200,000 years, agriculture and the domestication of animals happened roughly 189,000 years AFTER we became a species, and large…
