Good morning, Miriam, DJ, Lenora, and Katla, thanks so much for your kind words and support. I'll try changing our light bulbs in rooms I spent a lot of time in. I'll also try moving from my office to the ..nt have themfamily room in the afternoons to work. My office has good sun in the morning, the family room gets it in…

Miriam, thanks so much. Yes, I'm going to my doctor to adjust my meds on Friday. I'm hoping that I'm catching the downswing early enough this year. I don't do so well with the full spectrum lights--they really make me excessively hyper so I don't function well. Being outside helps. KarenE

Back again... Pip, time's getting really short for your bike ride. May you and Kirby have a marvelous time! Re, I looked up the book, and the information I gave earlier was correct. Barbie, I hope the docs figure out what can reduce your pain. Chronic and acute pain is horrible to live with. Welcome to all newbies!! I'm…

Good evening! I started a post this morning then lost it :s so here I go again... Re, Congrats on starting with kettlebells! It will get easier. I recently found a good book on amazon that helped me diagnose a couple of problems I was having. One was with the clean and snatches. First, the book told me what they were--a…

So sorry, Kim, My auto-correct changed "rellenos" to "replenish"! I was in a hurry and didn't check... They're great in eggs, too--you can chop up a corn tortilla and mix it with the eggs and chile, a bit of cheese if you want--migas! Yum!! KarenE

Kim, Roast 'em! When the skins char put them in a paper beg to cool, then rub off yet he skins. Wear gloves. Then you can freeze some. Make chile replenish, put 'email in green chile stews. If you're a vegetarian you could make a stew with hominy.

Hi Ladies! Lisa, what a nice story! It's such a relief when one can start planning for the short-term again, as you are for your articles. I need to have both short- and long-term goals or else I feel unbalanced and unsettled. These days I'm not sure what my long-term goals are... Karen, Your cherry tomatoes are lovely! I…

My September goals are: Continue to work on ways to include exercise in my work days. So far I've managed to do so for three weeks in a row. But not always easy, so I need to keep doing it. Find more ways to stay under net calorie goals while enjoying my food Janetr, Oscar is adorable. I'm a dog person. One year we ended…

Carol, Beautiful, elegant cut and style! You look fabulous! Joyce, I'm glad the docs are starting to give you some information about when to/when not to take particular medications. It's always helpful to have a little more control. NYKaren, I'm like you, I need my peace and quiet and down time even though I really like a…

Re, I'm completely with you on being active. My mom has had both hips and knees replaced, and she never truly did a full round of physiotherapy for any. Now she's so weak that she gets frustrated that she can't do things. I will not follow in her path. Mobility is too important. Melanie, so glad you are managing. Things…

Okay, finished cooking and dinner. Heather, I made Barba coach beef using the skinnytaste.com recipe. Yummm... Charleen, The quilt is beautiful. And what a gift for your friend to finish it for her. One of the things I liked about the hotel was that it was so large that just going to breakfast took 600 steps! I got a lot…

Hi everyone! I've only caught up on a few posts from the weekens. Will do more later... DH and I had a wonderful weekend. The resort is in a beautiful area of Virginia. And it's a gorgeous old hotel. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century, and it's huge. It's actually spectacular. Lots of great details, and I…

Joyce, Is there a specific reason you don't want to use tylenol? I never thought it worked for me, and I prefer naproxen sodium, which works fast and only needs to be taken twice a day. But when I had my hip replaced and wanted to minimize my use of the narcotic I found that if I took the tylenol every 8 hours without…

Miriam, I just embarrassed myself with my DH (grrr) to make sure my answer was right. He rolled his eyes that I even had to ask (he does try to refrain from eye rolling when it's me, but he's not totally successful), but I wasn't sure. The chance that all three would have blue eyes is 1 in 64 (1/4 × 1/4 x 1/4). Heather,…

Melanie, so glad you and your daughter are safe, and thanks for checking in when you've got so much to take care of. I'm glad you saved your photos! Mary, thanks so much. I looked at the program, and I'll give it a shot. It might be more structured than I like, but I definitely need more than I have now. And I definitely want to increase my weight steadily and safely. :) Joyce, I hope all goes well tomorrow. Penny, you're pictures are amazing. What a beautiful part of…

Good morning! Joyce, The problem with peaches is that if they're shipped they're often picked when they're not yet ripe and then subjected to temperatures below 50 degrees, and when that happens they never ripen properly. I always wondered why store-bought peaches weren't very good and read that bit of information in a…

Diane, congrats on your weight loss! Like NYKAREN making a commitment to not eating after dinner is important to me as is making sure that I get at least some exercise. That's what I really need to think about. Other strategies: If I log my calories immediately after dinner and I'm low by more than about 300 calories (this…

Lenora, please don't call yourself a wimp about using a 10 lb Kettlebell. It's super that you've started, and so important that you only do what you can without hurting yourself. Form is imortant, and even a lighter weight has benefits. Kim's use to loosen up her shoulder is a huge win, and it's not taking much weight to…
