Quite achievable. Keep us posted. If you have questions, post them. People have lots of food ideas and coping techniques to help us through the transition from eating anything to watching what we eat. Good luck!

I don't eat the calories burned in exercise. I want to lose weight so exercise is part of the diet and exercise I'm doing to lose weight. I have found I can't out-exercise overeating.

Good for you! When I was a sophomore in college, I weighed 145. (I'm 5'3".) I didn't watch my weight and I didn't take dieting seriously. I topped out at 328 when I was 62 years old. You are right to diet now. My only regret is that I didn't ever achieve a normal weight. Or at least hold my weight at 145. I've lost 61…

I was binge-watching "Nurse Jackie" on Netflix and realized I am addicted to food. She couldn't say no to the drugs even though taking drugs negatively affected her marriage, kids, friends, job, her career, and her self-image. Yep, that's me. I do read addiction literature because a lot of it does apply to how I relate to…

cherry m&m's were delicious when they first came out but the cherry flavoring was reduced as time went on. Not worth the calories now.

The previous posts are right. Motivation waxes and wanes, however, you have a partner who also has a gym membership. Is this a partner to agree you "should" go exercise? or is this a partner who will go with you to exercise? You need an accountability partner, someone who will drag you to the gym when you don't want to go,…

I had 125 pounds to lose when I started and am halfway there. The exercise I have found to target my hips, thighs, and stomach areas is the Gazelle Elliptical. It is affordable to purchase and have at home. (Around $150.) I noticed a difference just doing 20 minutes a day.

Welcome! I love the enormous food data base. Many times you can enter the brand name as well as the item and even for fast foods. For example, Subway oven roasted chicken. I like the reports that show how much fat, protein, carbs, etc I've consumed in my calories. And the exercise data base is as good as the food list. I…

You might try the 200+ Pounds to Lose group. They have some people there who have lost over 100 pounds.

I need to learn how to eat real food so I won't regain the weight I've lost. A protein shake (or other liquid diet) would help you lose weight fast. You could LOOK like you've lost weight fast just by dieting and exercising. I look like I've lost a lot more weight than I have because the exercising I do has really toned…

The point of my post is that after starving, the calories those people ate no longer maintained their weight. The same number of calories caused them to gain weight. Starvation mode is not a good place to go. You will pay for it later.

And don't reduce your calories below 75% of what you are eating. Not "by 75%". Sorry

should be "used to re-feed"

"The Biology of Human Starvation" is a 1200-page book reporting a starvation study done back in 1940. They took 20+ college-age men of average weight and reduced their calories by 50%. This went on for weeks. The men lost weight - of course - and were reduced to walking skeletons. After the study ended, the men were…

I have 65 more to lose. That will make it 135 lost. Add me as a friend. (If I can figure out how to accept friends!)

I looked into the study but I don't qualify for it. I am 64 years old, no health problems, and have 100 pounds to lose. I guess I will just have to keep at it the old-fashioned way. Good luck to you guys. It sounds like it would be a great help to lose weight.

Hello. I'm new to My Fitness Pal but have been dieting for 18 months. I'm down 60 pounds and have 65 to go. I'm making this a lifestyle I can live with, and so far so good. How much do you want to lose?
