I also have a large appetite and like feeling full.. What works for me is eating a big portion of my calories in one meal. I generally have 1900 calories for my day and will eat about 500-700 of those calories throughout the day. I save the rest for dinner and enjoy a big, filling meal. I found that this method works best…

Yes, you are right! Both rice and pasta should be weighed in its the dry form. The calories on the package are for the pasta/rice on its own. The amount it weighs after it's cooked has no correlation to the weight on the nutrition label. It will differ based on how much water it has absorbed, etc. So, you will definitely…

Wallaby organic whole milk vanilla Greek yogurt is my absolute favorite. So rich and creamy and vanilla-y! I don't think it would be a cheaper substitute as it's around $7 per tub. I usually get it while it's on sale. Definitely worth it for me!

Here are some lower calorie snacks that I frequently eat: • String cheese • Beef jerky • Cottage cheese • Rice pudding • Pudding cup • Granola bar • Rice krispie treat • Yogurt • Boiled Egg • Fruit • Strawberry smoothie • Trail mix • Frozen fruit bars

The grams/ounces for a serving of pasta is usually its pre-cooked weight. The label should specify dry or cooked. For the gravy, the label I found has calories for 100g as sold and 50ml prepared. I don't think you want to measure out the gravy once you cook it. So, I would use the 100g calories and do the math to scale…

It's hard to be sure without a little more information from you! What are your stats? Information such as height, current weight, goal weight, current calorie goal is helpful. Have you updated your weight since you started? That should be something you do on a frequent basis and it will adjust your calories according to…

I'm glad you bought a scale! It was definitely an eye opener for me! Weighing will definitely give you a more accurate representation of the food that you're eating. Weighing is absolute and there is no guessing. What you consider to be a medium apple may be what I consider to be a large apple. How do we determine…

Edited. Didn't realize that you have a newer thread. Will post there~

I go through a ton of salsa. I put it in taco meat, mix it into rice, simmer chicken in it, have it with scrambled eggs, put it on baked potatoes, etc.. Adds a lot of flavor without many calories. I probably go through a couple of jars a week!

There's a few things you can do in situations like that. You can keep searching for a different entry that has the correct information that matches the package you have on hand. If there isn't one, you can either edit the entry with the nutritional information you have right in front of you or create your own entry!

How much are you walking? I use a pedometer app on my phone and it keeps track of my steps throughout the day. I am able to enter my height and my weight and it gives me a calorie burn. It doesn't take into consideration if I walk with weights or not, but I'm not entirely sure of how much of a difference that really makes…

I'd be so hangry on such little calories.. Try setting your goal to losing 1 lb to 1.5 lb a week instead of 2 lbs. That should give somewhere between 1600-1800 calories. I think you'd manage a lot better with that amount without starving all day!

You use the scale to weigh the food that you eat. Once you weigh it and eat it, you will search the MFP food database for the food that you ate and put the amount you ate in your food diary. It let's you keep track of your calories so you don't go over. Following the calories MFP gives you for weight loss should help you…

It's your first week! You're still getting used to everything. It will be trial and error as you figure out what works for you. Right now, you're taking steps in the right direction towards your goals. You lost your first couple of pounds, too! I don't think you have to be so hard on yourself! Here's a couple of things…

You're eating 1200 calories for weight loss. There is a different amount of calories that will cause you to maintain your weight. I'm betting that's what you were eating at with the 1500 and 1700 days. (Though it's hard for us to know for sure without your stats and goals.) All in all, I think your calories still averaged…

I personally lost 20 pounds in a 5 month period. I am 5'7" and went from 150-130 pounds from the beginning of June to the beginning of November. It averaged out to losing about 1 pound per week. It was a little aggressive since I had so little to lose and was already in a healthy weight range. If I had to do it over again,…

You look perfect and have definitely made great progress! I would more or less pity the guy because he probably has nothing going for him in life. I love the Spirited Away dress, btw!

Counting your calories is definitely a step in the right direction! You'll be surprised about how many calories you're eating when you do start keeping tabs. Food always seems to have more calories than I would have imagined just by estimating.. So it's really helpful to start tracking them! Getting 10,000 steps in every…

Sometimes, those calorie burning calculators or the numbers given to you on the machine itself will tell you that you're burning more calories than you actually are. It's just a calculated estimate based on weight and output. Since you're trying to lose weight, you may want to only eat back a portion of the burned…

I like adding a couple spoonfuls of salsa when I make rice, both in the water before it cooks and as a mix-in after it's ready. I usually eat it with shredded/cubed chicken (also cooked with salsa) mixed in or with taco meat for burritos. Other times, I'll add soy sauce, veggies, and chicken for a stir-fry type meal.

I like adding salsa to my rice, both to the water when cooking it and as a mix in when it's done. I'll usually eat it with shredded/diced chicken or in a tortilla with beef/beans. :]

If you buy Driscoll's brand berries, you can enter in their reward program online. You'll just have to enter the code on the back and answer a few questions about the product and you'll get a printable $0.50 off coupon. If you buy a lot of berries (like me) you can earn up to $1.00 off after taking so many questionnaires.…

Kroger has been doing this a lot lately and I'm so glad! I think they are trying to mimic Meijer, who has a weekend sale ad. Last week they had $0.99 24 oz jars of their brand salsa. (best jar salsa imo..) It's usually 3 dollars a jar and I go through a ton of salsa so it was definitely worth it.

No problem! :] If you're going to be using a treadmill for walking, there's not really a "treadmill" exercise listed. I usually search the exercises for "walking" instead. Choose the pace you think accurately represents how fast you were going. (Leisurely, brisk, moderate, etc) That also automatically calculates the…

If you want to lose weight, then you'll want to make sure that you keep a close eye on your calories. Measure what you're eating accurately and eat how much the site is telling you to. As for smoothies vs whole fruits/veggies, choose the one you like. Neither is better than the other for weight loss. If you want a…

I'm not sure if there are exercise machines that will sync to MFP. I searched Google for "exercise equipment that syncs to Myfitnesspal" and found a couple different results, but nothing that seemed easily accessible.. Maybe someone else could provide more information on that. Most exercise machines like the bike and…

I don't think $150 a month is too bad. That's about what I spend on myself for food. It's definitely doable! I would recommend that you spend time meal planning what you want to eat. I just jot down general ideas of what I want for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then I go back through the list and specify what exactly I…

Losing 7 pounds in a month isn't an "only". It shows you're being more self aware and paying attention to what you're eating. I would suggest that you reevaluate how you're calculating and inputting your calories. Ideally, you should weigh almost everything you eat for the most accurate results. Track and log everything.…
