Good decision. I think it's probably a scam.

I know 2 people who did a similar program. One did the 20lbs and the other did the body fat. Person 1 lost the 20lbs. The last week was ridiculous--tilapia and asparagus for every meal for like 5 days or something. And I am not exaggerating. Yeah--I mean, who wouldn't lose those last 5lbs?! Not sure if the 2nd person lost…

11 lbs isn't much, especially when you're not really overweight. And doing this the right way takes awhile. You may need to re-evaluate your time frame. My recommendation: stick with your plan, get rid of the scale, and try on the shorts at the end of July. Then you can adjust if needed for August.

Srsly. Sometimes I make a choco protein shake with a banana and peanut butter. It's easy 450. It's hilarious how there's two main topics on this thread. The thing I wanted to talk about and this fasting stuff that I don't know ANYTHING about :-D

Also just to clear, I have discouraged my friend. It’s 100% her decision and that would not be supportive. I have said: “I gotta say, 900 calories sounds really low. And don’t skimp on those protein shakes!” (she missed one yesterday)

I love that you care this much about your friend, and that she's not fooled by this either. [/quote] She's been struggling with her weight her whole life, and I want her to be successful. I read the study on some of the folks who participated in the Biggest Loser. It's extreme, of course--that's the whole point.…

This is pretty much what we were both thinking (she agreed that 900 is very low). The plan includes protein shakes, lean proteins, and veggies, which explains how they get it to so low. To the person who said medical pros aren't always right--agree entirely. I'm just saying it's really, really well-respected hospital,…

I often have the same issue. I try to bring some food with me in my packed luggage: a four pack of premiere protein shakes, a few Kind or Lara bars, and a couple of apples. When the breakfast options are bad, I hold out as long as as I can and then drink a shake and eat one of the bars.
-
Same—pretty much. I cut booze a few months ago (except glass or 2 on weekends). That helped a lot. If I don’t drink and stick to my macros I can be way more lax on diet. I don’t have the patience for a bulk/cut either. Thanks for sharing that it took 15 mon to see abs. It probably took me at least a year.

@CharlieBeansmomTracey--yes regarding what you said about a "progressive weight training" routine and heavier lifting. @mom23mangos is saying the same. And @TenaciousGymKitten is confirming that belly fat loss is slower with weights. Good to know. The only way I know I've lost anything is that I take measurements :) Well,…

Thanks for "weighing in," all  I'm only focused on fat loss. I've been recomping off and on since June 2016 (weights 3x week and C25K 2x). I can definitely see the results. I took a "break" over the holidays but have been back on my routine since Feb. Lately my progress seems to be slowing. I've been working at home…

I've been lifting weights at home for awhile but got a membership to the gym at the college where I work because it's cheap and they have heavier weights than I do. First time I was a little apprehensive--I'm old (lol) compared to them, and few people over the age of 25 use the facility. But then I realized that no one…

I lift and do couch to 5K several times a week (2 days on/1 day of rest). Really, I could just lift weights to achieve the results I want, but I like jogging and there's the whole cardiovascular health thing. My goal was never really to lose weight, but rather to recomp, which takes a loooong time. But I knew that going…

My mom is planning on getting the surgery. She told me that most people gain back the weight within 3 years. That seems crazy, but it also demonstrates that it's not a permanent solution. She's elderly and not really able to exercise so I'm being supportive. But for you at 21, it seems like you might want to consider other…

noooo but back on track today!
-
Makes total sense. I had not thought about forcing myself to wear my clothes that are tight as a motivational strategy. I mean within reason, of course--I can't look unprofessional at work lol :) I just haven't bought anything new in a long time.
-
I should do that--get rid of clothes that are at the upper end of my weight spectrum. I do only tend to buy clothes when I'm thinner/leaner.
-
Nice! I don't own a scale, and I rarely weigh myself. How my clothes fit and my measurements are waaaaaay more important assessment metrics.
-
I'm 5'5 as well and about 150. Started at 155 and got down to 143--but after the winter break, I'm back up several pounds. So back to tracking, good eating behaviors, and exercise. I'm impressed that you got down to 127. I don't think I'll see that low again! I weighed 130 about 10 years ago in grad school, but I wasn't…

It took a few months for me to see changes when I first started doing this. I only had about 15lbs to lose, but my goal was really to reduce my body fat and be able to wear all of my clothes again. I read the New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women, I calculated a slight calorie deficit, aimed for 30% protein, started…

Without a doubt--alcohol. I think it's because I'm still going to eat what I normally would eat, but if I have a couple of glasses of wine, now I've also consumed a few hundred more calories. This adds up, obviously. My strategy has been to find replacements--but it still has to be something that 'feels' like a treat in…

47 here. I've been on and off MFP a few times. Last time I achieved my fitness goals of 140, but most importantly I lost fat. I was at 155 and it took me a year to lose it--I was on the slow and steady track. Now I'm back at 150 after slacking off for a few months, but I'm hoping to make progress more quickly as I'm still…
-
Positive. I often think "oh I didn't eat that much today." But then when I add it all up, I see what I really ate. Usually it's plenty :-) And I want to be sure to get 30% protein, which is usually a challenge, so that too.
-
^^^this! No--I actually only weight once a month. Or even less frequently. I don't own a scale because I'd be obsessed with it, and it's the least important tool that I use to assess my success. Body measurements and how my clothes fit tell me much more about whether I'm meeting my fitness goals. Weighing once a week seems…

2 months. I was trying to lose 10-15 lbs but more importantly, I wanted to lose fat. Started doing Couch 25K 2-3 times a week, lifting weights 2-3 times a week, and watching diet (eating at a slight deficit to preserve muscle)--aiming for 30% protein and fat and 40% carbs. At first I gained a few pounds, but I knew that…

Yep. It's the only thing I listen to during workouts. And this is 80/90s hard rock/metal.

In my early/mid 30s I bought a pair of board shorts on the beach in CA because I loved the style, they were cheap, and even though they were a size too small I thought I might be able to fit into them at some point (we've all bought that clothing item). A few years later I was going through a stressful time, lost a bunch…
