  • Unless one is using Pam as a butter substitute, I just can't imagine using all that much of it *per serving*. If I've used more than a short blast of Pam, it's because I'm cooking a massive amount of food in a big pan, either because I'm feeding a lot of people, or because I'm cooking ahead and planning to freeze portions.…
  • I have had something similar, and the peroxide and a Q-tip work well, but sometimes things then feel a little . . . chafed. Neosporin -- an antibacterial ointment -- that has pain control in it really helped with that.
  • Thank you all. It sounds like my original understanding about running and walking estimates weren't right either. Well, trial and error it is, then.
  • Planning ahead really helps me. If I have meals for the day worked out ahead of time, I don't have decisions to make when I'm hungry. I don't literally pre-log my food (though I know many people here do, and that works for them) but I have meals planned -- I have all the ingredients (which means the box, in some cases) and…
  • And by mental list, I meant a go-to list when things go sideways and I find myself without breakfast or lunch. I log everything as accurately as possible.
  • I understand your problem. I am a grad student / TA, and my schedule is packed. I lost about 70 lbs in one year, and need to lose a good bit more. What I was told, and what I use MFP for, is to track calories, rather than exercise. While exercise is great, and I probably would have lost even more if I had been able to…
  • Don't know if this will help, but something I have found helpful to get me back into, or keep me in, a food plan when I'm struggling, is to plan my whole day in advance. I have a breakfast, lunch, and dinner planned out, and a couple of (high satiety - usually protein) snacks built in that I can have. I struggle when I'm…
  • I am so sorry you've been through all that. That's awful. Have you thought about some short-term counseling for the trauma you went through? That would knock anyone off their pins, so to speak. It seems to me like you're blaming yourself for a very normal, human reaction to something pretty traumatic.
  • Hi Kennedy. I haven't really posted on the boards, but saw your post and wanted to welcome you, and let you know that you're not alone. Your story sounds similar, but I'm older and it took me a long time to get to the point where I felt capable of dealing with my weight. Good for you for checking in here. Two things that…
