That's exactly how I lost 60 ish pounds and put back on 60+ really fast. My advice is have an exit strategy. What/how are you going to eat coming off? I will never again. I learned nothing about how to maintain my loss.

I have 10lb goals but no rewards. I do however have fitness goals and rewards. For example after 6 months of consistent exercise I bought a Fitbit. After reaching milestones (miles or certain hikes) I get socks, workout clothes etc.

Yes this happened to me every time I restricted something. As soon as I got to goal I would overeat that restricted food. Now I don't restrict anything. I plan for it in my calorie allotment. I take my calorie allotment 1200 x 7 =8700 then I take that and break it up I have several low days around 1000 then I have a couple at 1200 and one at 1300 and one at 1500 (I'm rounding) this works with my social schedule and keeps me at a daily average of 1200. ETA - 44 lbs down so far.

Good point even if the testing is helpful, which apparently their own study only shows 5% success, it seems all it recommends is either lowering carbs or fat by a certain amount. Might be helpful knowing that but useless if it's not sustainable in my opinion. My luck it would say very low carbs and I wasted 500 bucks…

http://www.livescience.com/15137-genetic-test-lose-weight.html Seems they are told how much to reduce carbs or fat. Personally I'd save my 500 and give this testing several more years and some peer reviewed studies, especially since just eating in a deficit is working nicely.

Livescience has an article about it. The study, not peer reviewed, shows out of 101 only 5 obese women lost weight on the DNA recommended diet. There is no information if they kept it off.

I add whole flaxseeds to salad, scrambled eggs and baked potatos.

Our tap water is by Rain catchment so we don't drink it yet. We need to install a uv filter and figure out ph before we can drink it. So I refill 5 gallon RO filtered water at the kiosk. Prior to that living on the mainland I drank tap water.

True story... at 235 I decided to go to a yoga class. It was my first time I was nervous and almost backed out but I went. I was the biggest and the most out of shape but a woman farted pretty loudly in class and oddly enough it made me feel ok:) like being fat wasn't the worse thing that day:).

I make huge salads. Taco Salad, Greek Salad and spicy Boca Chicken Salad. I load them up although I can get mine around 600+ calories lol.

Plug your stats into Mfp and get your calorie goal. Eat the foods you normally eat within that calorie goal. Eventually you will learn what's worth eating often and what's only worth eating once in awhile. Keeping in mind an overall balanced nutritious diet.

I was surprised that only after a few weeks I went from walking 15 min totally out of breath to walking my first 5k. I'm still surprised as is my family that I like hiking:).

It was pretty eye opening for me as well. I quit dieting and I'm down 44lbs :).

Most of the time I make homemade pizza with flat out pizza crust 120 calories for the whole crust. If we have friends family over I eat one or two slices with a side salad. Potato chips are my weakness so I don't usually have them. When I do I either get a single serving or I invite family over so the whole bag gets eaten.…
