Hey, @linmueller , glad you found this helpful. I'm another one who used to use vacation as free license to indulge. It's hard for me to believe but it actually feels better to make healthier choices, especially when in the company of someone whose health is challenged.

Think back to your pre LTL days as compared to now. How much do you think your consumption of Ultra-Processed foods has changed, if at all. I'd say a moderate amount. I was never a real frequent-flyer of UPFs, but there were definitely more of them in my diet than there are now. I can probably count on one hand the number…

Premise: Weight loss is about problem solving over and over again. What’s a problem that you face or have faced? Big problem or little problem, that doesn’t matter. Did you solve it? How? If not, why not? Auto-pilot. In the course of learning about my relationship with food, I realized that for some reason, I had grown…

Thanks a bunch @whathapnd , @misterhub and @88olds . I guess we'll have Wild Card Wednesdays, eh?
-
Oh man, I feel for you and her, @misterhub ! That sounds worse than an East Coast storm, and in fact I'm sure it is since we're at least used to similar events.

The average person uses as many as 2,500 calories daily, or 17,500 calories per week. (quote/emedicinehealth) 1. What do you feel is the best method of calculating the calorie intake you should burn based on your distinctive height and weight. If you eat the amount your body needs, you will maintain your weight. It takes…

Back at it!

Nice job, @cakeman21k !

Back in the saddle. Actually, never left the lifestyle, just my presence here for a while.

Is persistence something you can learn; or, is it an innate ability that you have to have from birth? How do you develop the ability to persist? What role has persistence play in your own journey? I can only speak for myself. Based on my own experience with weight management, my previous attempts were decades ago and…

We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice. This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight…

Thanks @imastar2 and @misterhub . We'll have several open or wild card days. Maybe that's fine since we are having more non-daily threads.

I'm just back after being gone for a week. No scales of either kind but mindful throughout my vacation visiting my sister in FL. Anymore (and this is a vast change for me) I do tend to be much more mindful of my food choices on trips like this. I do not like being disappointed in myself upon return from vacation. I don't…

1) Eat less, but healthier for most meals at home. 2) Box half my meal when it gets to the table when eating out. 3) Act in accordance with how I want to feel after I get home when on vacation (which I am right now).

Check, mate.

I’m really sorry @misterhub ! That’s some phenomenal snow and tough circumstances to deal with. Most important thing is that everyone is ok. Hope you all get through it with minimal additional impact!
-
Thanks @Jerdtrmndone !

Hey y’all, have a great day!
-
Good day, GOADies!
-
Hmmm, interesting. Will have to revisit this thread. Thanks Greg.

Not for me, either @Jerdtrmndone . Sorry I can't help ya--no idea what that's about!

Like some of you, it's been different things at different times (and still is). Weight management in my past life was always a struggle. I was fat. My vision of improved seemed so far off that it was daunting and felt like the impossible dream. Despite several attempts, I never sustained a weight management plan long…

Late, but here.

I'll start off with your focus areas, @steve0mania , and go from there (even though I'm not as restricted in diet as you are). Struggle 1: portion control - This has probably been one of my greatest achievements on this journey, no matter where I am. That said, I have to be really mindful to use this to this technique to…

Do you have Consistency in your LTL journey.? If so does it pay off good benefits.? I do. I feel like I have to or risk going back to where I came from, 80 pounds heavier. My consistency is in following my plan, not necessarily repeating every meal or step day after day. In fact, if I did that, I'd probably lose interest…

My takeaway is that if you can figure out a very small change to make and then apply it consistently you can then go on to make bigger changes. But too often we get overwhelmed by trying to change too much too quickly and then never start. I'll elaborate in my post below. Your thoughts? I think there is wisdom in this…

How's things?

Some great progress being made here, peeps. Keep fighting the good fight (or living the healthy life).

Interesting topic. I'm a little pressed for time right now but want to give this some thought and attention later... thanks @steve0mania for the thought prod...

Healthy living involves more than physical health, it includes emotional or mental health. 1) Do you feel you get enough sleep? (2) If you are walking do you reflect on what you see and hear enjoying your walk? (3) Do you do mind exercises like reading or maybe a puzzle? (4) In your leisure time do you do things that…
