  • Just a walk today. My coworker and I walk our campus every Tuesday, and try to do a few other days once it gets warm out. 1.5 miles on a cold, but sunny winter afternoon. Nice to get out and to have the time to decompress before going home.
  • Hmm I guess I can see what you mean about the wider toe box. But the middle and heel are nice and narrow for me. I've never had shoes that i didn't have to pull the laces super tight to fit my foot, so I've been liking the brooks. And I don't mind a little extra space near my toes, if I can get a good fit everywhere else.…
  • Busy busy busy on Thursday and Friday. Worked out a little bite at home, but no running. Felt sick on Saturday (either a little cold or allergies), so tried to just take it easy that day. Yesterday still not 100%, so continued relaxing. Did a slow 2 mile walk that day. Today I was back to running/walking intervals. 3 miles…
  • Non scale victory: I fit into a dress for work that I haven't worn in 3 years! I got rid of a lot of the clothes that didn't fit, but I saved a few favorites. Still can't fit in the others, but this is a start and was very exciting for me!
  • Goal for the month: 30 miles, combination of running and walking. Would like to get to the point where I can run a 5k this year, but starting small. Started off yesterday with a 2.4 mile hike. Lots of hills, so mostly kept to a brisk walk, but added a few small jogging intervals here and there. On running shoes: I have a…
  • I missed my February goal by .72 miles. I guess I should have run today instead of doing a barre workout... But it was wet and gloomy outside, so I think doing anything after work was a victory. Even though I didn't meet my goal, I'm still proud of myself for being way more active than I've been in a long time. Hopefully…
  • Didn't do any exercise yesterday (oops!) even though weekends are usually my best time to get outside. I was pretty productive at home, though! I knew that I needed to get out today, to try to keep up the habit. Nice and sunny, and I had a good audiobook, but I was just struggling to get in the mood. So ran intervals for 1…
  • I got behind on reading and posting again! Sunday and Monday were too busy (although Sunday I spent a couple hours stacking firewood, so still got a workout). Worked out in home gym Tuesday and Wednesday, then finally ran again yesterday. Didn't have a ton of daylight, so only 2 miles. Ran most of first and walked most of…
  • Interesting point about the treadmill! I hadn't thought of that. I went to a local high school's track to try them out. Did about 20 minute run/walk combo and wasn't sure how I felt about the shoes. Them rested for half hour and did another 30 min of run/walk intervals, and I really liked the shoes. So I guess it was…
  • Good morning everyone! It's been a few days since I've been here. There's a lot of posts to catch up on! No mileage for the past two days. I did do a few running-related tasks: finally bought new shoes and upgraded my watch. I've been wearing the same fitbit for about 7 years, and I wanted a few more features. It's still…
  • Another unseasonably warm day here. February is normally one of our coldest, snowiest months, so I don't know what the weather has been up to. 70 degrees today might be a record high. Husband couldn't pass up this weather, so he called a last minute, pre-season practice for his tennis team. Since we carpool to work, I come…
  • Thank you to everyone for the anniversary wishes! We did a nice 3 mile hike with 400 feet of incline. We had beautiful sunny weather, which was great! It was snowing and grey out for our actual wedding 2 years ago. @tarun_yadavA We got takeout from Bravo. I had enough chicken marsala for dinner and again for lunch today!
  • He doesn't like melted cheese or red sauce! I've offered to just make him a crust with toppings, but he always turns that down hahaha.
  • Had a busy Saturday celebrating family birthdays and eating way too much tasty food. I knew that I wouldn't want to get out after the party, so husband and I went out for a short (1 mile), chilly hike on Saturday morning. Jogged a little bit, but mostly just a brisk hiking pace. Lots of hills, so that was good! Yesterday,…
  • @tarun_yadavA That pizza looks amazing! My husband hates pizza, so it's one of my go-to treats if he isn't home for dinner with me. That pizza hut picture makes me miss meeting my friends there in high school a long time ago. The ones closest to me have all been converted into other businesses, which makes me so sad!
  • No walking or running yesterday, but now that it's the weekend, I'm hoping to get more activity in. We have a busy weekend, but hopefully I'll still find time to get outside. @quilteryoyo I do have a cutting mat and rotary cutter, but I'm still hopeless haha. So I just hope that no one will look too closely at my corners.…
  • I missed a few days here, but I'm back! Swelling in my foot is gone now, and the bruising is healing nicely. Took 2 walks this week with a coworker and a short hike with a few running intervals with my husband, adding 4 more miles to my total. @quilteryoyo - I teach biology, environmental science, and chemistry! And thanks…
  • No mileage to add today, unfortunately (although I think the only time I sat down today was during lunch - the kids kept me busy walking around the classroom answering their questions). Could have done a little bit after work, but I decided not to, since I managed to slam my foot under the freezer door yesterday evening.…
  • Today's weather was much better: high of 49 F. We've had a lot of back and forth weather the past few weeks. Enjoyed the mild temps and walked 3 miles, with short jogging intervals thrown in occasionally. Husband joined me again today.. He is really trying to encourage me with weight loss and getting back into shape, and I…
  • @quilteryoyo that quilt top is beautiful! I also quilt a little bit (not very well - I'm not great at straight lines and neat corners) and sew from time to time. Lately I've been doing a lot more crocheting than any other crafts, probably because it's easy to do on the couch hahaha. My husband isn't training to run like I…
  • @quilteryoyo Thanks for the welcome and for the advice! The weather is warming up again (in the mid-30s! and it is supposed to be in the 40s and 50s for the next week), so my husband and I decided to walk and enjoy the sunshine. There is a panera about a mile from our house, so we walked to dinner and back. We did a slow…
  • Hello everyone! I'm a little bit late, but I'd like to join! I haven't actually done any running in a long time (and even then it was very slow running...), but I'd like to get myself moving again. I'm going to start with walking and maybe work my way up, if the weather and my lungs allow. I'm asthmatic and one of my…
  • My mini-goal is to be able to wear some dresses that I used to love, but no longer feel comfortable in.
