  • My usual--coffee with about 150 calories worth of dark chocolate. Holds me until 12 or 1pm.
  • I don't like eating chalk, lol. That's what I mean about picky--consistency is also a big thing for me with ice cream. Thx!
  • ^^Wow, that's crazy! Personally, I love the peanut butter chocolate chip Clif bars so much, they replaced candy bars for me (so yes, some sugar, but maybe better than a Snickers?). I especially love them with coffee, and/or warmed in the microwave. They've been a staple pre-race food for me, but I also have them as a meal…
  • Running, walking, hiking, tennis (but I'm bad at tennis!)
  • I'm with you! I actually don't care much for romaine. It seems so...wilty? My favorite is butter lettuce, and a little bit of spring mix or spinach is fine, but I also grew up on iceberg, and I love it. I eat big chunks of it while I'm chopping. Thumbs up for crunchy water!! (Who doesn't love crunch, and water is good for…
  • Calories--dark chocolate, wine, beer, the occasional kids' scoop of ice cream from Kilwin's or glazed donut from Krispy Kreme, bacon, and lately, popcorn with real melted butter. Money--pretty much all of the above, plus protein bars, sushi, organic produce, and grass-fed beef. Non-food-related: Currently we're spending a…
  • Coffee or tea, or just eat what I want and adjust calories for later in the day or week.
  • My aunt ran a marathon in each state of the US, and did the last several in her later 50s. She's 66 now and still runs.
  • I guess I'm weird, but I hold my phone in my hand. I use it to time my run/walk intervals (I measure by the mile, not actual time), and occasionally to text my husband to let him know how I'm doing on my long runs. If I wore it in an armband or put it in a belt type thing, I wouldn't have easy access. I've gone 12 miles…
  • $5.17 here. Since having kids we haven't backpacked at all, and we camp less often. But we did buy a kid-sized sleeping bag and pad last year.
  • I'm currently at 1400 for four days of the week, and 1800-2000 for Fri, Sat, Mon (I get up a lot earlier on Mondays, so it's easier to have a higher calorie goal that day). Weekends are, well...weekends!
  • I injured my foot a while back and was unable to walk or run for exercise. I was, however, able to use my Desk Cycle at home. It's basically a small stationary bike-like apparatus that fits under a desk. I was able to burn some calories, and it didn't hurt my foot. I didn't have an Achilles injury, though. Do you think you…
  • Lol, I used to love watching the Food Network, but figured out that it just made me hungry!! Now I prefer HGTV. My main rule (which is really just second nature to me by now), is no eating "breakfast". I usually first eat around 12:30-1pm, unless I'm absolutely ravenous (some PMS days). If I eat earlier, it just puts my…
  • Thank you all for your replies and suggestions! JohnnyPenso--After more research and discussion with the hubby, what you suggested is actually exactly what I'm thinking of doing. We don't really have room for a squat rack, and I want to be sure I really will stick with this and like the results before I move forward with…
  • Thanks for your response! No, I'm not in any hurry, I was really just curious how long it takes women to progress. I did start with body weight squats, and have done some with a dumbbell. I guess I feel like I'm ready to get prepared to go heavier, so that's why I'm looking at the barbell sets.
  • I like most nuts, but I'd say pecans are my favorite. I just wish they had more protein (and while I'm wishing, can I wish they had fewer calories?!?). My least favorite are Brazil nuts and cashews, but I'll eat them. I love walnuts but due to my son's walnut allergy, we tend to not buy/use them. I just had some Smucker's…
  • It would totally be the PMS for me! And I've noticed that it seems to be worse if I've recently been eating at a decent deficit. Just this week I upped my calories by about 250 per day, and the PMS monster appetite seems to be better so far. I get this at ovulation, too--ugh! I used to "give" myself an extra 300 calories…
  • ^^This for me too!!
  • at the CICO altar! And I completely agree with the subsequent statement.
  • For me, Greek yogurt, eggs, meat, bananas
  • I completely agree. But she was simply asking if her change would make a difference. All else the same, I think it will. She's not asking about all of her possible options to increase CO or decrease CI, she's already changed jobs...correct?
  • I'm not condemning...what?? The OP asked if this more active job would make a difference in her weight than a job that is inactive, long hrs, with no breaks, and I replied with a clear answer. Keeping all else the same, including working out or whatever activity she does outside of work, then yes, a more active job should…
  • I can't think of the last time...well how about "you-half-hours"? Right now--curled up under my electric blanket after a long run, reading MFP forums! Also, walks/hikes outside, and watching movies with the fam or movies/old sitcoms with hubby (usually does involve a beer or glass of wine!).
  • I disagree with most previous posters. Inactivity all day is unhealthy, and can make it difficult to maintain weight because you must stick with a fairly low calorie goal. Yes, you could make the numbers work, but it's not easy. OP, if you keep all else the same (calories eaten per day and activity level outside of work)…
  • Thank you! I'll think about trying it if things feel out of control. I don't typically have sweet cravings, more like any carbs! I've never thought about something like an all protein day. I guess that's like keto-for-a-day  Sorry OP for high jacking the thread. I hope you get maintenance figured out for yourself--I…
  • I have about 13 lbs to go. Started last July and steadily lost 17 lbs up until Thanksgiving. Have basically maintained since then, but really got back to trying to lose again a few weeks ago. Have lost maybe 1.5 lbs. I guess the last stretch is just slowwww. I'm working on some running goals during this process, and signed…
  • I'm curious about the "all meat" day. Do you literally have nothing but meat? Any meat, including fish, shrimp, etc, as long as no carbs? What about things like eggs and cheese? Do you get full enough to stop eating easily without going over calories for the day? I'm wondering if this would help me with PMS. But I don't…
  • If it helps, the 85% dark chocolate I get at Trader Joe's has pretty small squares (rectangles) that are 25 calories each. The larger Ghirardelli 85% squares are about 60 calories. I'm not sure if you're just wanting to identify it to buy again, or looking for calorie amounts.
  • I'm thankful that ice cream is not one of my favorites. Or at least, I can go a long time without it! I have seen Halo Top at our Kroger, but have resisted so far.
  • I "hid" cauliflower purée in a zucchini bread. It was not good. I love cauliflower raw, roasted, sautéed, etc, but in bread...no.
