Whatevs. Like I am any more interested in hearing about their homely little baby triumphs than they are in hearing about my big sweaty lady gym triumphs. Oh congratulations, it turned 3 months, you must be proud. I can do 5 chin ups and am proud of that. Both are laudable achievements and we are both playing "look at me".…

Sometimes talking to dieters is like talking to teenagers. What do you know as a person who has successfully lost weight over a period of months or years and kept it off? What do you know as a person who went through everything OP is going through and figuring out how to remedy it? Pfft, no more than any of those fool…

I find something close in the database. I look for vetted entries (with the little green check marks) and generally go for the one with the highest calorie count just to err on the side of caution.

This is fantastic advice. You don't need to cut out carbs or sugar or any other type of food to lose weight. There is nothing I ate before starting MFP and losing weight that I don't eat now. Literally nothing, no exaggeration--I just east smaller portions so I stay within my daily calorie allotment.

It uses the mi fit app. I don’t believe it can be used with MFP—I enter my data from it manually. That said, I’m not much of a techie so it’s possible I just didn’t try hard enough. Hmm, i just realized that link i gave is no good. Sorry about that. I stumbled across the Amazfit bip when my swim watch broke a short while…

You may want to check out the Amazfit Bip. It’s basically an Apple Watch for a fraction of the price. https://forbes.com/sites/ewanspence/2018/06/17/amazfit-bip-smartwatch-review-cheap-applewatch-fitbit-price-fitness/#3a9c262f2fdc I got mine at the beginning of the summer and am extremely satisfied.

There is a lunch program where I work and I get my lunch menus from it on a weekly basis. As a result, I plan a week at a time.

People who tell you the answer you want to hear are not necessarily sweethearts, they are telling you what you want to hear. People who don’t tell you what you want to hear aren’t being rude, they just aren’t telling you what you want to hear. Surrounding yourself with yes-men and only listening to people who agree with…

I’m not sure how you propose to separate the two as the range of motion is required whether you do them weighted or unweighted. That’s like saying I quit walking and it’s fine because I have no plans to race walk.

Go hard for one session instead of taking it easy in each of two sessions. My trainer says if I can do a second class in the same day, I’m not working hard enough in the first.

To add to this, for most people around the globe, a squat is a position of repose. Because we mainly sit on furniture here in the west, we are generally unable to squat. We have the ability when we're children to squat restfully but we lose it over time because we don't keep at it. We are not built for sitting on furniture…

I learned this week that CrossFit is like Fight Club: the first rule of CrossFit is don't talk about CrossFit.

So much this. It's not possible for random strangers on the internet to upset me because they are random strangers on the internet. I'm not invested in them in any way, shape or form and they don't know the first thing about me. Why would I waste time worrying about what they think of me??
-
That's a rather silly question, don't you think? Of course he would likely be unhappy but that's the point of anonymous advice columns and forums, is it not?
-
Ah, I gotcha. I was wondering for a second if you were my husband and stumbled across this LOL

Meh. Derail away. Or PM me. I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't interested in the answers.

WTF WTF?

That's interesting. My back was pretty messed up due to a knee injury that I didn't get surgically repaired for 9 years and then a trio of car accidents serious enough where the vehicles were written off. I lived with pain for a long time...until I started doing crossfit. :open_mouth:
-
Thanks for the support and the thoughtful replies. Side note: what's with all the crossfit hate? Would it be somehow more palatable to say I do calisthenics plus weightlifting in the morning?
-
Of course we do. He is my best friend and the smartest, most interesting person I know. We talk all the time about everything but conflict occurs in even the best, most stable relationship. Normally we talk that through without much trouble because we have great communication but this has changed just lately. Now, instead…

I can't imagine that I have. I work basically alone. I have very few friends. I don't go out. Pretty much all I do is exercise, walk the dog and go to work. I am a very solitary person so am happiest on my own other than spending time with him.
-
There's no needling. I've been at this for 2.5 years now. The infrequent and gentle efforts I made to get him to weigh and log, come to crossfit or otherwise discuss food and fitness stopped within the first six months when it became totally apparent that I was getting nowhere. I'm not interested in changing him. I tell…

Another recommendation for body weight training: Convict Conditioning by Paul Wade. It's a great program if you can stick to it.

You can manually alter the macro splits to suit your eating preferences if you'd rather not see a bunch of red.

I don’t eat back my exercise calories during the week. It’s about 300 calories a day so I have about 1500 calories extra by the weekend. I get a little spike in weight on Mondays which was disconcerting at first but I’m back on track within a day or two so I’ve learned not to sweat what the scale says first day of the week.

I am not a medical practitioner in any way, shape or form and I absolutely bow to the wisdom of experience around here. You would be best off seeing a doctor immediately rather than following any advice from me. Perhaps if you indicate the severity of your condition, they will see you sooner than for a general checkup?…

I do a half hour of crossfit at a gym followed by a half hour of yoga on weekday mornings. My dog, who comes to work with me, is bonkers unless she gets two walks a day so we do 2.5kms at lunch and then another 4.5kms in the evening. I have a fair bit of free time at my job so, depending on how the day goes, I do body…

You don't have to stop running, you just need to start eating A LOT. I am always envious of those who need to gain weight rather than lose and I think many of us here wish we had your concern. Not to make light of your situation in any way; the struggle is real for those who are chronically underweight too. I would start…
