Thank you, Becs! I've lost just under 28 lbs in 3 months. I am so happy that I've come this far. Two years ago when I lost weight I went down to 138 in July of 2014. By October I was up to 148 and after that the pounds just piled back on. This time I'm determined to not only lose the lbs but to keep the weight off for good.

Alrighty, time to check-in!( I woke up at 430 and couldn't go back to sleep so decided to do weigh-in). Cool! I just plugged in my 20:28 for a 5k at age 31 and it gave me a 25:55 for my current age of 60. Something to shoot for! Thanks much!

Hey Becs, your post came up right after I wrote mine. Those measurements are fantastic. Your hips are really getting small! Way to work it!
-
First of all, congrats to Becs on breaking the 130 barrier! Whoopee! Fantastic! I'm not sure what day we're on, but I'm not weighing and measuring till tomorrow morning. So I'll be posting my phase 2 results on Friday....hopefully there will be good news for me as well. Felt rather strange this morning and couldn't get…

@pondee629 Thanks so much for the group info. Just joined and posted under goals.

Oops, I did. Sorry... Well, at least I summarized the craziness of the plan.

OP may have a competitive spirit, but she will not be a winner. She states that her projected 10k time would put her in bottom 10% of runners for this race. Yet she plans to forego the 10k and try the half without the proper training. If she can't run a fast 10k, then she certainly cant do better at more than twice the…

I get the whole competitive bit. I'm the same way and used to enjoy winning road races or my age group. I struggle to accept that at 60 and starting over with my running using a C25k program that I can't just go cruise like I did in years past. That being said, to be competitive you need to be prepared. You need a proper…

Great job! You can do it. Remember to pace yourself and take it slow ( I need my own advice). I didn't find the move from 60 to 90 seconds that much more difficult.
-
Sounds like you have a system that's working for you, @PaytraB . I just need to find a pace that allows me to breathe easily and that I can hold for next week's 3 minute runs.

I'm 60 and have lost 26.4lbs since the end of June with15.6 to go till my goal weight. I haven't had any trouble losing weight so far. I eat the calories allotted by MFP and exercise an hour per day 6 days a week for fitness. It never occurred to me that age would be a factor in my new healthy lifestyle regieme. For me,…

I know I'm supposed to slow down but my ego gets in the way. It's difficult to hear app tell me such a slow running pace after being a good runner years ago. I'm telling myself that what I did in my 30s has no relevance now but I'm having a hard time with it. I'm gonna have to go slower next week, however or I'll never…

Aliem: body resistance training to improve strength and fitness. Only equipment used are tables, door frame, and the like. Starts out with evaluation in 5 different areas to determine starting point for each exercise. Once you establish your level for each exercise, you do program 3 times per week doing 4 exercises per…

Finished Day 2 of Week 2 this am. Felt a little tougher than the same run on Monday. It was hotter today and jogged the running intervals a little faster. But I did it. Can't believe I'll be running 3 minutes next week!
-
Back to C25k today for 29 minutes of jog/walk. Felt a little tougher today than Monday. Think I was running a tad faster on the running intervals and it was hotter as well. Came home and completed final day of 30 Day Fitness Challenge for 14 minutes and finished up with 20 minutes of yoga. Going to try something new next…

Fantastic, Becs! Looks and sounds delicious!
-
Totally agree with the posters above. Two months is not very long to be racing a 10k let alone a half.
-
I'm training to run my 1st 5k in 25 years in mid-January. I used to be a decent runner with a time of 20 and change for the distance. Now at 60 I'm starting from scratch with the C25k app. Hoping to be able to finish the race running!
-
I just ordered Body By You ( women's YAYOG) and hope to start next week. Probably move to the app after a few months. I also checked out the groups and saw no activity. Maybe we need to start a new one.
-
Yay for you, Becs!
-
Glad to have you back!

I'm 5'6" and weighed between 115 and 125 until 2012 when I gained all my weight. I'm down to 150 now from 177 with a goal of 135. Think that will be a good weight for me now at 60.

Becs: just concerned that injury will worsen. Knees are nothing to mess with! Tried some new cardio before body resistance this morning. Danced 11 minutes with this guy named Fitness Marshall. What fun! Then upped my reps a little on my calisthenics for 30 instead of usual 25 minutes. Finished with 20 minutes of yoga.…

@sassymedic1426 I'm still posting!

Be careful!

Good job!

Day 56: The new shoes are a success! Yay! I completed my C25k jog/ walk for the day with no knee pain. I'm so happy. Full steam ahead now. Also finished Day 29 of 30 Day Fitness Challenge for 13 minutes, walked another 9, and did yoga for 11 equaling 63 minutes total. Enough for today. Becs: well, what a bummer about your…

@Gettingfit2017 Great effort by your son and congrats to you! Wonderful!
-
Woo-hoo! I did it! No knee pain so I'm moving ahead. My ego did get somewhat in the way, however. I found myself running a little faster than a comfortable pace just to stretch out my legs a little and lower my pace. Not smart but it felt good!
