@imanibelle *APPLAUSE!* These are excellent strategies! It sounds like you've put in a good deal of time and thought to find an approach that fits with your personality and lifestyle. Thank you for sharing!

@LeanButNotMean44 Thank you for sharing! I haven't been diagnosed with B.E.D. either, but I also suspect that I may have a mild case. I know I find it so helpful to talk to others who are in the same boat. Before I heard other people share their binge stories I sort of felt like I was the only weirdo who did those things.

@kimothy38 Thanks for sharing! That all sounds sooo familiar! Since my usual binge foods are sugary/starchy, I've also found that reducing my carbs and increasing my protein is helpful. The rebounds are difficult, but I'm working on learning to maintain my weight during binge periods, which is progress.

@jayersmith Thank you for sharing! Sneaking food at night when no one's around sounds like it's very common; right up there with eating fast food in the car and throwing away the wrappers where no one will see them. I also relate with trying to replace unhealthy binge foods with healthier ones. I try to keep baby carrots…

@nowine4me That's a fair point. I've been working more late shifts lately, so I haven't been getting my usual amount of sleep. Thank you for pointing that out!
-
@edeconing Welcome to MFP! Feel free to message me if you want someone to talk to. I don't know if podcasts are your thing, but there's one I've been listening to that's very helpful to me. It's called Half-Size Me, and it's focused on mindset and a maintenance based approach to weight loss, and the host (Heather)…

@JeromeBarry1 I haven't been diagnosed with BED, and I don't think I want to seek a diagnosis. I'm afraid that devil on my shoulder will try to convince me to use a diagnosis as an excuse to justify bingeing behaviors. I can almost hear it now. "Aha! I knew there was something wrong with me! That's why I need to buy a…

@KurumiSophia I think I hear what you're saying. I'll take a closer look at my negative associations. It's like the ancient stoics said - it's not what someone says that insults you, but rather your opinion that it was insulting
-
@ninerbuff Thanks for the input. It sounds like a good approach.
-
@Geocitiesuser You seem to be operating under the misunderstanding that I'm maligning a body type and glorifying another. To further clarify, I haven't told her that skinny or fat or any of the other adjectives you've used are "bad," and I have no intention of demonizing them either.
-
@Geocitiesuse It is true that skinny doesn't have negative connotations for everyone, and I am certainly not trying to blacken the word for anyone who likes it. For me, it has a negative connotation because of a childhood friend of mine who truly despised being called skinny growing up. She would never wear short-sleeve…

@KurumiSophia I think I hear what you're saying - that we shouldn't allow words to affect the way we feel about ourselves, and I agree. However, that amount of emotional maturity eludes many of the adults I know, let alone children. Therefore I think the best thing for me to do at present is to continue to accentuate the…

I made it a priority to eat at least one serving of vegetables with each meal, and I substituted my usual afternoon snack with a green smoothie sweetened with fruit. Overall, it was a successful week, and convenient enough that I should have no trouble combining this new habit.

My mini goal is to get down to 170 and then take a 12 week maintenance break. I started on April 1st, I'm down 15 lbs, and only have about 5 to go!

I'm going to tell you what I told my husband when he was complaining about gaining weight due to sweetened whitened coffee beverages: If you don't like coffee that's black with no sugar, then you don't like coffee. And why drink something your don't like? He gets his caffeine fix via Jet Alert tabs these days, and orders…

I confess... I'm a natural born slob. If I didn't feel the need to keep a tidy-ish house for my daughter's sake of probably be living in squalor.

Gorgeous eye color!

The last week in April I bought a new skirt for work in my usual size large. This month I had to start using safety pins to keep it from falling off! I finally altered the waistband last night and I'll be buying a replacement next week. Size medium here I come!
-
I haven't had any problems the rest of the week, but today I tried a coffee based protein smoothie for breakfast, and it didn't agree with me - I felt like I started off the day on the wrong foot and I've been trying to straighten it out since then.
-
I know I'm a little late to the party here, but I'd like to join too.

I can't find the amount or type of sweetener you used. Am I just missing it?

Greetings, fellow Moms! I'm Sarah. My peak weight was somewhere in the low 220s, but I'm not sure on the precise measurement because I had this head-in-the-sand notion that if I didn't know how much I weighed I wouldn't have to say I weighed that much when asked, haha! I had got down to 209 by the time I got pregnant with…

You probably don't want to hear this, but if you're exercising that much, eating below your calorie minimums, not eating your exercise calories and you're still not losing weight, there's a fair chance you've accidentally put your body into survival mode. I strongly recommend that you eat your exercise calories and make…

I'm going to share with you a quote from Epictetus: "Any person capable of angering you becomes your master; he can answer you only when you permit yourself to be disturbed by him." I advise you to shake it off, sister. Shake it off, focus on yourself, and move on.

I hear what you're saying, we need less protein to survive than we typically think we do, and protein is abundant in many healthy foods. My personal problem is that I am battling a bad binging habit that's been with me since I was 8 years old, typically involving highly processed foods that are very high in refined…

I found an English Toffee flavored liquid stevia on Amazon that's delightful in coffee, as long as you don't use too much. Of course, Stevia still has a distinctive aftertaste, but I find it acceptable unless I've waaay overloaded the beverage in question.
-
Thanks @janejellyroll and @HealthierRayne! Very informative and helpful!
-
I am wearing size L shirts instead of XL for the first time in a decade!
-
Thank you to everyone for your input and support; I no longer feel the urge to binge bearing down on me. I had a glass of iced coffee sweetened with stevia and added 2 scoops of collagen to improve my protein macro. Then I took a 20 minute walk in the sunshine. That have me the oomph to go to the grocery store for some…

Great tip! Thanks!
