Slim/Athletic build, T-Total, doesn't do drugs.. Honest, good personality... Can put up with my sense of humour. Has to love the gym and choose a long walk in the countryside, a weekend hiking or a day at Wimbledon, etc over watching TV in front of the sofa! Took me years to find!

I concur. This 10x over! Being accurate with logging and staying consistent is the way to get the results you want.

@runnergirl0721 Thank-you! You look extremely happy and confident in yours! Rocking the blue/purple! @FabulousFantasticFifty You're most welcome!

Thank-you! We live over 6000 miles apart and each trip to see each other costs an absolute fortune but, we've made so many memories and have Christmas/new year to look forward to next! There is a lot to be said for long distance, they're hard as hell but - in this case, totally worth it and I owe it to MFP for meeting her!…

Thanks pal, MFP has truly shaped my life over the years I've been here!

She has an amazing personality, I feel like I've known her forever! Always a great person to see around the community!

I've never understood the US tipping system! My fiance has tried to explain it to me multiple times(she's from/lives in America) but it seems that the minimum wage there isn't much less than here, if at all and it seems like a forced gratuity. There are many things and concepts in the US that I like but I can't say that I…

My fiance was my original MFP crush - as they say, the rest is history!

In agreement, though - the thread does specifically ask what irks you as an individual and this particular thing irks me, regardless of how reasonable it may be. To be honest, drinking in general and how people react after drinking has always irked me, more-so during the day (or, whatever then 'day' is for that person).…
-
Given that I'm currently working a night shift, I maintain my view. Though, I agree that my view may be skewed by the fact I don't drink - so, I'm perfectly willing to accept that although it irks me, it's likely perfectly reasonable.
-
It's the worst! I completely understand people enjoying a night in or a night out - you now, socially accepted drinking times. Even if I don't do it myself. It's just years of walking through the various places I've lived and watched people shouting and breaking into fights because they're beer in and brain out - at…

Seeing people sat in the pub drinking at 11am, pretty much any day. or, walking down the street with a can of lager. Call me judgemental but it doesn't seem conducive to improving your life. Then again, I'm T-total and don't like alcohol in general so - I guess I'm unique there and people are perfectly entitled to live in…

Honestly, there is no device out there that will replace the effects of exercise and a good consistent, sustainable diet. Spot reduction doesn't exist and the devices of old, didn't work the way people thought they did - simply caused a huge amount of internal damage for all the people wearing them. It's not wrong to look…

Very happy. Fully qualified in IT but hated it. Now I get to earn a good wage, meet new people every day - have a fantastic team to work with and get to enjoy the PT work on the side! That said, if you'd asked me 5 years ago - that would have been an entirely different story!
-
Of course :)

Gotcha! Yeah, that really is a must! Good call! The main gym I go to now is 24 hours and I'm often there at 4am, it's a lifesaver! (I'm typing this at 4:20am, so - it's nice to have the option of having a gym open to go to!) I think that if it encourages a few people whom woudln't otherwise go - although it would do…

Awesome! A cage - lifting or boxing type? Just trying to get a better picture, I'm currently thinking you mean an old-school type gym?
-
Hey, I wasn't knocking it! Sometimes I think there should be more things like that over here - it encourages a healthy attitude towards food as well as exercise in my opinion! That being said, I tease my fiance about the fact gyms over there have stuff like that! She lives in the US and I'm always gobsmacked by the…

Just weights? It seems a fairly basic requirement haha, I think most gyms have weights. That said, there was a gym I went to a while ago that ONLY had resistance machines - needless to say, it didn't stay open very long!

I suffer/suffered from OCD and Anxiety, this is exactly why I got to deeply into exercise int he first place - I found that the more I advanced my career and the fitter I got, the more I was able to turn those negative thoughts into positive action. A bad time in life doesn't define you, given time and the right things…

Clearly you're very sold into BMI being a good measure, if that works for you - all the best! I maintain my original view, along with the view of many health professionals. The fantastic thing about individuality, if we all thought the same, life would get boring wouldn't it?
-
May I ask your understanding of BMI? This isn't an insult, just - I feel that for you to be saying it is a good indicator, maybe you misunderstand how the measurement actually works. I wish I could find the medical based articles that have disproved the effectiveness for the majority of the population, I will, however,…

Nobody is denying that any food excess is bad for you, simply that no food is 'junk'. Any food is made up from any/all protein/fats/carbs. A simple thought experiment; People have lost weight on a diet completely made up of twinkies. In this case, were twinkies 'junk'?
-
Certainly not, I'm personally around 10% bodyfat but have a high BMI. I would be discouraged if my BMI fell into the healthy range because that would ultimately mean a reduction in muscle mass (given that my bodyfat is already low, it would be the only way for it to do so). BMI is a very flawed calculation, I have friends…
