From what I've read, they recommend not doing a heavy workout within 3 hours of bedtime as the "feel good" hormones are still pumping around your system and are liable to keep you awake....

If anyone wants another member on their cheer squad, I've been on a mainly whole foods vegetarian diet for over 12 months and am currently transitioning to full vegan whole foods (plus an egg once or twice a week from free range chickens when I get some again.) I am also trying to get to be growing most of what I will be…

I can't!!! It won't let me have two slices of you!!! B) :p

I've been mainly vegetarian for years, and I'm currently transitioning to full vegan. (I am still running down the fridge and freezer of animal product. Once they are gone, I'm replacing with only vegan wholefoods.) I'll send each of you a friend request if you don't mind. I'm getting meal ideas from "Forks over Knives"…

As everyone else has said - get medical advice! At the very least perhaps an exercise physiologist. My exercise physiologist advised that the maximum heart rate you ever want to hit used to be 220 minus your age. I believe this has been revised as there are a lot of other factors, however it still basically holds true…

.....Oh, and ONLY the the stuff that makes the green exercise ring move gets treated as a kcal credit to your daily tally...
-
....and then when you look at what has been loaded into MFP from Apple Health, there's a negative adjustment figure as well. From what I've been able to glean so far, what you burn (active not passive), is not 1:1 with what your kcal intake is.

Yep, I only found it a few weeks back too. Makes one hell of a difference having people keeping you accountable and caring about your progress!

On a smart phone, push the duplicate entry to the left and a delete button should display at the right end. Press that, and the duplicate is gone. On the web-based version, there's a (-) at the right end of each entry that allows you to delete it.

Hi Ryn, If your pee is not too dark, then you ARE actually drinking enough water. The idea is to flush your kidneys adequately. Apart from getting dehydrated and the headaches that go with that, your blood is thicker and your heart has to work extra hard to push it through your arteries, your kidneys have to work harder to…

Is 60 on my next birthday too old for this thread??? My boy brain still thinks I'm 18! If you want a "middle ager" at the geriatric end of the scale, who happens to be an amputee, transitioning to clean foods vegan, and almost halfway along my shrinkage journey, please add me! I'm here daily, and cheering on every success…

Coconut cream is actually Coconut Butter that has been watered down. I just stir in a heaped teaspoon of Coconut Butter into my double shot espresso. It's still an acquired taste, but I'm enjoying it! ....and Coconut Oil does not have the Coconut Meat in it, so the Coconut Butter or Coconut Cream is better for you as there…

Hmmm, probably newer here than the divorcing thing! My wife is disappearing into the fantasy land of Alzheimer's, and she has been in fulltime care for the last 15 months. Her financial affairs are controlled by a court appointed administrator, and when they had a meeting with her and her son last January, she convinced…

G'day. I'm one of the Aussie seniors who squandered their health chasing a career. Made redundant after 23 years, and now trying to re-find the fountain of youth and get my health back. Also doing clean eating and transitioning to full vegan. Add me if you want me in your cheer squad..... Mike

Found the same thing. I got serious in my journey from about the middle of last year, but it has been a solo struggle up until looking into the community part of MFP only at the start of this week.... Wow! It REALLY does make a difference to have a bunch of like minded folk cheering you on! I've added a couple of extra…

Apart from metric used around most of the world, the US redefined the measures of what used to be called Imperial. e.g. 1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609 litres whereas 1 US Gallon only = 3.78541 litres, An (Imperial) ton does not equal a (US) ton, and neither of them equal a metric tonne. Ton and tonne are pronounced the same,…

Perhaps by getting them eager to try it? I found a lot of the material on Beyond Diet to be great to get you thinking of doing it all healthier. Might be worth a look WITH them? https://www.beyonddiet.com/ The foods actually look fabulous, and are flavour-filled....
-
There's Isabel Delosrios' Beyond Diet which is amazing and filled with all sorts of tools for meal planning and specific diets. (From recollection it was a tad expensive, but it is a once only charge. Just had a lookand there's a substantial discount to join currently). My only problem with this was there are so many…

Try to accurately track what you eat and drink each day and start taking notice of the "Nutrition" button at the bottom of the MFP diary. It will show you the foods and meals that are your carb horrors. Reduce the portions of those foods, and possibly replace them with some high fibre foods.

Hi ladies (am I really the only guy doing this?).... Also brand new to this group as of 10 minutes ago, MFP community 4 days ago, MFP since September, primarily clean eating and mainly vegetarian for the last 18 months, and I am now transitioning to full vegan and whole foods! Wow, what a struggle it is to find vegan whole…

I'm still learning heaps, but my understanding is that if you take your sugars (and every other nutrient) as whole foods, you are taking in lots of fibre which dramatically slows down absorption rates, as well as the fibre speeding the foods through your system. i.e. Just drinking the juice of an orange would likely spike…

Every strength to you @cmtigger and thanks for that insight @comptonelizabeth

It's great that you've made the decision, and put it out there for others to be able to "keep you honest and focused". Keep in mind that it is a lifestyle change. If you revert back to old (bad) behaviors, then you already know what's going to happen, or you wouldn't be here now. Stay strong, and call out to your buddies…
-
As per both replies, plus I would look to increase the fibre (which includes whole fruits), as that helps to push everything through your system, and your body needs to work a little harder to extract the nutrients. Make sure you're having enough water too as that helps to flush your system as well.

Have a good read of this (which is linked in previous folk's replies), all the way to the end of the article! THIS, to me makes way more sense than purely looking for a shopping list of very specific foods. http://kidneystones.uchicago.edu/how-to-eat-a-low-oxalate-diet/
-
I'd also stick to foods that have high fibre content as the body takes more time to work its way through the fibre to get to the sugars, salts, and other goodies. As such, the absorption rate is reduced, and the fibre does wonders to keep you regular!

Wow, what a nightmare! I've had kidney stones twice in my life (and it seems if you have them once, you are prone to have them again). The key I was given is that my water intake needed to increase dramatically to help flush the kidneys properly. I did note that my fluid intake had been lower than it should be for some…
