Don't think of it as 100 pounds to lose, aim for 5, and repeat x 20

I knew I needed to lose weight after I lost my front tooth for a while and saw my aunts face when I looked in the mirror

There's a post titled something like " weight loss is not linear" it's pinned at the top of the forums under most useful posts, you'll probably find it helpful

University gym Pros cheap, can go to the one close to work or the one clise to home Generally open at times that suit Good selection of cardio machines Cons no classes

You need to figure out what will work for you. Do you like to cook, or are you willing to spend the time, any exercise or physical activities you enjoy, how generally active are you, how much time can you invest, then design your diet with that in mind. It needs to be something you can manage long term with adjustments as…

Don't try and do it all at once, a good start is tl log,all food and drinks, maybe add a bit extra exercise and see where you are after a week or two. It's usually easier to persist if you make gradual changes

Be gentle with yourself, you may need to try a number of different ways, until you work out what works for you.

Vegetable slice, chop 600g veggies very finely in food processor, strain or squeeze handfuls to remove excess juice, add 60g quick oats, 60g grated cheese, 6 eggs, seasoning to taste, bake 45 minutes at 180 Celsius, as long as you use mixed veggies it doesn't taste like any particular one. Makes 4 servings at approx 340 cal

Your eyes are not always reliable witnesses, have you noticed any change in how your clothes fit?

I wouldn't bother with a Dr for plantar fasciitis, physio therapist or podiatrist are your best bet for treatment. Best stretch is to sit with foot on opposite knee and pull ball of foot towards you.
-
See a physio therapist, a qualified one should be able to diagnose and work out a treatment, I've found with that kind of injury it won't go away by itself and the longer you leave it, the harder to fix

Plus remember time passes anyway, if you maintain that's better than gaining and if you give up gaining is almost guaranteed, try focussing your goals on fitness challenges and healthy eating with appropriate portion sizes rather than your weight.

What does motivate him, competition, a goal, an incentive?. If you can find what will work to get him started he can take charge of his own diet.
-
Food prep helps you cut down take away. If you have a portion controlled meal in the fridge or freezer that just has to be heated the incentive to order out drops, plus you can save money
-
You can do this with watching portion sizes, stick to complex or low gi carbs, as well as protein and healthy fats which should help with hunger control, keep a mood and food diary and review every week with weight results to help work out what works for you

If you can't separate out the junk food to specific cupboards, maybe some kind of opaque containers for storage. If you can come up with some kind of hobby to keep your hands busy while you hang out it makes it easier to not eat. Also if you clean your teeth it makes anything sweet taste foul, so you can put off eating for…

Make sure you have negative adjustments enabled, apart from that it looks like it's working correctly

You have motivation, your back, what you need is to make the decision, and act on it. Work out a strategy to make following your food and exercise plan easier. Consult a therapist if you have a pattern of sabotaging yourself and keep going. Work on building healthy habits. Good luck.

You can only control your reaction, stop talking about your goals, and don't explain your choices, by explaining, they take that as a crack in your defences, inviting an attack, eat as you choose and block them out. You can learn how to do this.

I found eating mostly nutrient dense foods most of the time with a small allowance for treats works. It means if I want something I can have it if I've decided it's worth the calories

Try writing down a list of all the reasons, no matter how illogical or unreasonable of why you might want to gain weight or stay the same weight. You may need to make visible your conflicting priorities before you can re focus on losing weight.
-
Yes, what Cortelli said, it's easier to maintain muscle than build it, so start with the strength training as soon as possible, you don't need to join a gym, you can look up some bodyweight routines and start there if you want.

It's not practical to fully cut sugar, it's in fruit and vegetables, and it's in so many processed items including bread. The best I could manage is to minimise added sugar, which I've been doing since January.
