I also like the idea of sticking around! I haven't been active in the monthly challenges, but love the accountability of weighing in and the motiviation in all of the threads!

I'd be down for some volleyball!

I have a few today! 1. When I went wedding dress shopping about two months ago, I bought a size down from the size that fit perfectly in store. I just hit all of the measurements to fit that dress (I lose inches in my waist the slowest it seems)! 2. My fiance and I volunteered at a dog/adoption/social type event this…

I've lost a little over 20 pounds, and I still don't really notice when I look in the mirror. What I do notice is that my clothes fit much better and many are now too big. For my friends and family, I got random comments starting at around 10 pounds lost, but it seemed like everyone seemed to notice at around 18 pounds…

I tried to add you! If it didn't work, you can add me by email at kaceyhenik@mail.umkc.edu. I'd love to participate in the challenge with you!

The fit radio app is really great when you just want a random mix! You can select the genre/type of songs you want. Slower songs are remixed to keep the energy up, and there's no pause between the songs, they just transition the beat to go into the next song! Most playlists are about an hour long.

First, congrats on all of your amazing progress! You are such an inspiration to me and I'm sure everyone here! I'm really hoping that after the next couple of weeks, I might see my progress speed back up a little as I will (hopefully) be getting rid of some of these factors! Next week is my last week of college classes…

There's also a group for C25K I believe. But I loved the program and found it super helpful/beneficial!! I'm probably going to start the 10K trainer soon, but for now have just been running 3-3.5 miles a few times a week. Never could have done that before!!
-
I've never thought about it like that!! I will have to keep that in mind tonight when my trainer hands me the weights and try not to hate her so much (only hate her in the moment, love her and all that she's taught be when she's not making me do one more set)!

This may sound silly, but were you really focusing on your breathing? The first two weeks of C25K absolutely KILLED me. I felt like I was gasping for air, and my lungs just weren't even filling up. I started working on breathing and really taking measured breaths in through my nose and out through my mouth. It helped me so…

I finished the program a few weeks ago, and I did it every other day, with a two day break between finishing one week and starting the next. I did strength training on off days, or a different form of cardio like Zumba or kickboxing!

I was worried about the price of getting new shoes too, but they were the first thing I bought myself when I decided I wanted to start taking this more seriously. I notice a huge difference in how my legs feel with my running shoes, and am now at the point where I'm running a little over 3 miles 3-4 times a week (started…

Neither of the Alta bands have built in GPS. Some Fitbit models have connected GPS (uses your phone's GPS), but only the surge has it built in

Thank you for sharing your experience!! This pushes me a little more towards the Garmin!
-
Have you looked at the Garmin Vivosmart HR+? It's one I've been considering (can't decide between it and the Fitbit Charge 2). But it has built in GPS, wrist based heart rate that it uses to calculate calories burned, and tracks workouts such as cycling and running. It is also supposed to be able to track swimming as it is…
-
Thank you! Would you say that the Garmin has been pretty accurate when you've used it? I've seen reviews that said it can be off by quite a bit until you custom match your stride, and then that it is normally very accurate. Just curious what your experience has been!

That I would be such a huge hypocrite to myself. I was always the one that said I would never enjoy running. But the more I run, the more I want to see how far I can go. I also said I'd never give up my favorite meals, but as I've started to eat healthier, they are no longer my favorite meals. I don't crave the fried and…

My NSV is that yesterday at Easter dinner, I didn't let myself binge on all the yummy food, even with the 'peer pressure' from family! So many of my family members looked at my plate and talked about how 'sad' it was. But after carefully measuring all of my food these past 2.5 months, I have a much better idea of what real…

Honestly, I take pictures more than most people, but I've still found it helpful. I take a picture almost every time I'm at the gym, which ends up being two to three pictures a week. But I just move them all to a transformation folder on my phone, and since my phone keeps them in order by date, I have a pretty good…

Try checking with a specialty bra shop if you have any in your area! I spent quite a bit of money on my sports bra (~$70), but it was fitted by professionals so I have practically no bounce when running like I do with my cheaper bras. But the best part is that they told me at the shop that they would continue to provide…

When people notice, I get all positive reactions with the actual weight loss. There have been a few times though that I have been out to eat with my fiance's family, and feel like I am a little judged with the food I order. Like we were out to breakfast once with his mom, grandparents, and aunt and uncle. We were at…

I totally understand this struggle!! I've lost almost 20 pounds so far, and am hoping after these next 20 or so pounds I will be able to do this. Awesome for you!!
-
I ran my second 5k today and set a new PR (still slow, but improving)!

Thank you!!

Pictures posted out of order. The purple pants are both from tonight!

I just graduated c25k last night, and am thinking about moving on to 5k to 10k! I haven't decided yet, because my pace for the 5k is pretty slow (definitely not the 30 minutes the app pushes for), so I can't decide if I should work on pace first, or keep increasing my distance. But congratulations on finishing the…

Today I hit my 60 day streak for logging in! The NSV is that I'm finally staying consistent and sticking with my plan. I've tried joining gyms and different things in the past, but I've never made it more than a couple of weeks. I've even started C25K about four different times, never even making it to week two, but last…
