Timing of meals is irrelevant, it has no effect on weight loss.

Maybe they're photosynthesising? I did a lot of this stuff as a kid, not allowing food to touch, eating meal components separately. I used to vomit if I couldn't cope with the texture. I still can't eat anything like porridge or rice pudding. Makes my stomach turn just thinking of it. When I started cooking for myself i…

I'm a fan of "you can't be mad at the results you didn't get with the work you didn't do" My trainer regularly tells me "your body can handle it, it's your brain that wants to quit" and "when you feel like you can't manage another step go for ten more seconds" both help me push through when i'm convinced I'm done in, I…

I quite like the rule about not eating ingredients you can't pronounce. As a chemist it allows me to eat pretty much anything. Have we had the obligatory ingredient list of an apple or a banana yet this thread?

You aren't drinking enough green tea. If you alternate green tea with ACV you'll boost your metabolism, kick-start your diet and the weight will fall off.

That's exactly how I picture loose weight - adipose running around causing chaos as people frantically try to catch them. "Looking for motivational friends" posts with zero info or context (and that general ilk) bother me, mainly because I don't understand how random people you've never met or had a meaningful conversation…

It's taken me 5 months to lose 11kg (almost 25lbs). Which has felt like forever but actually seems like a pretty decent rate, on reflection.

Mini eggs. I thought I was safe when Easter was over but yesterday I found the new eggs on holiday.... I'm not ashamed to say I did a happy dance. My other major weakness is ferrero rocher. The other week my husband found a discounted box at the shop, I got through 900 calories of the things in one sitting. No regrets.

5 months and I'm 11kg down (about 25lbs). I still have another 14kg or so to go (just over 30lbs) before I'm at goal.

Stomach and lower abdomen for me. Then my legs started slimming out, waiting for my arms to get the message! Apparently my face has slimmed a large amount, so I guess I could say face too for first place to lose.

Today it looks like pita and hummus, chicken curry pot with rice, three double stuff Oreos, a Jaffa cake and a diet coke. Just enough left over for a glass of wine. It's been one of those days!

I'm definitely one of the people who insists on sedantary (but eating all exercise calories back and tracking steps) but that's because my activity level varies so wildly (on Sunday I did 600 steps, nope, not kidding; today I hit 10K by lunch time) - I can't think of a better method that doesn't risk wildly over or under…

The term cheat day always makes me assume it's a day you don't log. The scientist in me is horrified that you cod spend all week trying to gather as much data as accurately as possible and then completely throw that out of the window. Honestly, why bother? I don't have "cheat days" because no matter what I eat I log it, I…

I started at a UK 16 in trousers. A few weeks ago went shopping and the 14s were way too snug in a certain style (other styles fit fine). This weekend I bought the 14s in the style that didn't fit previously, actually contemplated going down an extra size. I've bought a few size 10 items on top too. I think it depends…

That's what I do. I use the weekly calorie goal on the app - as long as I'm under my weekly average I see it as a win. Regularly get red bars on the weekend. Definitely have a significant one today. I blame gin.
-
Use the package value to get calories per 100g (or whatever) but then use a scale to see exactly how much you're eating.
-
I use a weekly overview, I'm rarely super hungry on my active days so I like banking calories and saving them for when I fancy a bigger intake
-
Yup, all of them as provided by my Fitbit.
-
Exactly as above - my "goal" is 1220 but due to activity most days I eat around 1700! Exercise calories ftw.
-
Don't adjust your calories below 1200, you'll miss out on vital nutrients. MFP won't do it for you either.
-
On my current "plan" I just eat whatever it is I'm craving... When I used to do paleo (years ago) I used it have a couple of squares of 80% dark chocolate, melted in the microwave and poured over a bowl of strawberries. That did the trick. Actually, I quite fancy that now....

Keep going. My weight regularly stalls for two or so weeks at a time, then I lose in a whoosh. Weight loss is never linear.
-
Smoothing determines how much each weight reading affects your line - if you set it to 0 then the line goes point to point for each weight you log, the more smoothing days you have the less your line goes up and down. Agreed that any time is better than none - one of my favourite sayings is "progress is slow, don't make it…
-
I also agree that it sounds like something else is going on but I could easily get to 3600 without thinking about it before I started logging. Cheese and bacon muffin at breakfast, hot chocolate and a couple of biscuits at break time, whatever was for lunch in the canteen, KFC for dinner, then a bag of mini eggs/minstrels…

Do mess around with them a little yourself though, I'm weirdly immune to fluctuations - TOTM only takes me up by max 1lb, most of the time I'm pretty stable so my settings may not be ideal! I found mine through trial and error, at the end of the day it came down to which line made me the least crazy about any changes and…
-
So much this. I find calorie counting and prelogging actually helps me deal more easily with any stress relating to food - I know exactly what I can eat/have accounted for and so I worry about it far less.
-
Now. Immediately. As soon as the idea strikes you.

Originally: Pure vanity. I was tiny as a teenager but then recovered from my ED and piled on the weight (as an overcompensation mainly but also because eating "healthy" is one of my triggers so I went waaaaay too far in the "better safe than sorry" direction). I got to my biggest ever and sort of decided that was enough on…

Low weight high rep does nothing except increase the length of time you have to spend in the gym. I'd rather get in, do my workout and get out - life's too short to spend it doing endless bring repetitions!
-
I use 10 smoothing days as that seems to mitigate TOTM fluctuations but still shows some variation. 30 day forecast as I lose in stalls and whooshes at the moment so anything less gives either crazy long or crazy short projections - 30 days reflects my sold monthly average loss.
