  • Let us know how it goes, and if you enjoy it.
  • We've had the nupasta here a number of times. We always rinse it off under cold water, but we've never done anything else with it. Just rinse then toss it into whatever we're cooking. The texture is a bit odd the first time, but never had a problem with the taste.
  • Sure! Here's our bone broth process: We use pork shoulder roast, so after it's roasted and we've carved off as much meat as we can, the bone(s) and all the drippings, and anything else left over in the roasting pan (bits of celery, onion, seasoning, etc) all go into the slow cooker. To this we add about a tsp or so of…
  • I'm not familiar with the new 5:2 plan, sorry. When we used to do 5:2 we would put both fasting days in a row, basically Friday and Saturday were our fast days. So Thursday dinner would be the 'last meal' till Sunday breakfast. On the two fasting days, our rule was maximum 500 cals or whatever we burned in workout, which…
  • We make bone broth almost every week. Got like about 6 cups of it going in the slow-cooker right now. We can't stand just drinking the stuff or eating it like broth or soup though, so we use it as the base for our low-carb bbq sauce. Dunno if it helps in weight-loss as such. If you do a lot of fasting it's a good…
  • This week I had to use our laptop and the desk was too busy to put it there so... I put it on my lap. We actually have a lap now! lol. No more balancing laptops or tablets or cats awkwardly on a huge belly. I don't know when this happened but I just noticed it this week. lol.

  • Just completed our April challenge on the last day lol. Saturday turned out to be a bust and we got barely any NEAT at all, but we made up for it yesterday and today. The fitness watch challenged us to burn 28,882 'active calories' and as of this afternoon we're at 28,915!
  • It's finally BBQ weather here! Rib steak with some blue cheese, enjoyed outside in the fresh spring air.
  • We're closing in on our april activity goal, but it's gonna be right down to the wire I think. The 'oddly specific' goal our fitness watch gave us was 28,882 active calories burned. We're at 25,035 with 3 and a half days to go. Gonna make a big push this weekend to try and hit the goal on Sunday, but if not, we'll get…
  • Our 'oddly specific' activity goal for this month is to burn 28,882 'active calories', according to our fitness watch. We're at 20,420 right now, which is a wee bit behind schedule. BUT the weather is looking good so we can pick up the pace with more outdoor activities! This morning we did a 6km walk, with a 10 minute…
  • Rib steak, garnished with blue chese, over a bed of arugula. Little bit of chipotle dressing to give the arugula some zing!
  • Just a little follow-up to this... Still having trouble really getting 100% back into the diet / WOE like we should. Going to make another push to try and get over the self-sabotage etc. Excercise has been ok though, as in we still do it every day, still hitting our daily activity goals. The good news is, finally got the…
  • It's halfway through the month and we're more or less on track for our oddly-specific goal. The goal was to burn 28,882 'active calories' this month, and we're at 14,119 as of this morning. The weather is supposed to improve later this week so we'll be able to do some more walking outside which will be nice.
  • I did our second 5k of the year today. Still not up to running again yet, but it was a good brisk walk, averaged about 10 minutes per km. That was after 22km on the indoor bike this morning lol. And we're on target for our April challenge. Our oddly specific goal is to burn 28,862 'active calories' this month, and we're at…
  • Our Apple watch has suggested an April goal, as an oddly specific target of burning 28,882 'active' calories in the month. Not sure we'll be able to achieve it, as that is nearly 1,000 calories per day, every day of the month. But, the watch tracks things its own way and it says we did 942 calories yesterday, so maybe it's…
  • @KnitOrMiss we've been going over this back and forth a bit. We think there's a sort of chicken-and-egg conundrum, of trying to separate cause and effect. Did our DID symptoms grow worse beause of the weight loss, or was the weight loss itself a byproduct of worsening DID symptoms. Basically, Stephanie was so divorced from…
  • Thanks @KnitOrMiss for all that detailed information! I don't know about a seratonin/dopamine/cortisol connection. I have learned that at least one of our parts feels the extra weight made us safer, and feels threatened by how we're looking now, so wants us to regain... We're fighting a little 'diet sabotage' now and then…
  • Life is a real mix here lately, but as bad as things have gotten, it's still not that bad overall. Like, still able to function most of the time. Past-me made a lot of poor choices health-wise, but she did a lot of other things right. So we can spend more time focusing on health, both physical and mental, less time focused…
  • Thanks @KnitOrMiss! There's definitely been a loooot of changes between those two pics lol.
  • Thanks for that, never heard of GAPS before. We did a quick look through of their wesite and all, and it looks to be mostly focused on learning disabilities and behavioral issues? The mental health stuff seems to be tacked on, but not the main focus? Unless we missed something obvious. Figure it's best to stop talking…
  • Thanks a lot for that @canadjineh I really appreciate it! They don't specifically mention my problem, but they cover a lot of the comorbidities. I think it makes a good argument that a keto diet is probably good for the brain, and at the very least, it can't hurt!
  • Thanks everyone for the responses! Yeah the search function here has been hit-or-miss for us lol. We'll look into the tuit nutrition stuff, but mostly just try and remember to tell our friend thanks for the concern but it's not a problem. Cheers!
  • We've used the konjac ones quite a bit. The brand we get here is called NuPasta. It took a couple tries to get used to the texture but after that it was fine. We do the angel hair in stir-fry on occasion, and the linguine shape either as a side (fried with oil/butter/garlic/seasoning) or as a main, with some meat, fat, and…
  • Not the best progress pics, just the face. First MFP profile pic versus newest MPF profile pic. About 1 year and 100 lbs apart.
  • Back on my routine / schedule; 2 meals a day. Breakfast is spicey stir-fried pork. 10g total carbs, 7g net.
  • This morning I did my last run of the year, and crossed off one of my 2018 fitness goals! I ran a full 5k, nonstop, no breaks, no slowing down to walk. I also beat my previous best time by a minute or so. I did the whole 5k in 38 minutes. From left to right, these represent: August 12, September 9, September 16, October…
  • Thanks for sharing that link @KnitOrMiss, I really needed to hear that right now.
  • Seems I forgot to post in week 3. I've been going through some 'mental health' issues the past 10 days but things are settling down again. This is my Nov 18th to Nov 25th wrap-up.* Water - 10 cups or more: 7/7 * Excercise every day: 7/7 * No plants / carnivore: 7/7 * Carbs 10g or less: 6/7 * Calories <= goal: 7/7 * Strict…
  • I have both books. IMHO, Obesity Code does a good job of explaining a lot of the basis and background, and it does touch on fasting a bit. IIRC there is one chapter specifically about fasting. Complete Guide to Fasting is of course a much more in-depth look, which I found focuses mostly on intermittent fasting. However,…
  • Intermittent fasting (16:8) has been my default for years. I didn't even know that was a 'strategy', it's just my natural state. I also do 5:2 when I can (eat 5 days fast 2 days) and I have done a few extended fasts. Longest was just shy of 7 days. I don't do the extended fasts or the 2-day fasts for weight loss, I use…
