Best thread ever.

Agree with the cycling comment. You need a calorie deficit and cardio to burn fat body wide. ( can't spot reduce). Just lifting weights will continue to build muscle under the layer of fat. Cycling will keep your legs lean and exercise the muscles ( hill climbs) while also burning body fat.

Make sure you have proper running shoes too. I am visualising you trying to run in converse or some other fashion trainer that is not a real running shoe.

I never said vaccination didn't work. All I said is that the flu vaccine only protects you against the specific flu viruses ( species) that it immunises you against. The idiot was the person saying the flu vaccine can protect a person against entire strains of flu ( hundreds of thousands of flu viruses) and that getting…

I believe fast food is toxic and should only be eaten if last/only food on the planet. Very unpopular view here on MFP. I believe that HAES is a ballocks I believe that being healthy and fit is the true body positivity and self love...not this pretend love for self while destroying ones body through obesity and neglect.

Chocolate is not bad. I suppose if you eat milk or white chocolate which has tons of sugar it's not that good. But dark chocolate...the cocoa within it lower blood pressure and reduce the stress hormone cortisol which actually helps with weight loss.

Interesting scale. I find I get nauseous between ravenous and faint. I dont get nauseous at all if I over eat...I get almost comatose like a sleepy Python snake that's swallowed a whole pig. Too, after faint, I go back to neutral ( know this from unintentional fasting). I also find I don't eat when only slightly hungry…

I eat fairly clean. I haven't had fast food for almost thirty years ( not a single cheat). I also do not eat most processed foods. But I'm not a vegan or anything, I eat balanced meals.

While it's true that most flu cases are caused by a few strains, the vaccine doesn't protect against a few "strains" it only protects against a few "species" of the virus. Unfortunately, they have found in scientific studies that vaccination against a virus actually increases your chance of catching a virus within same…

In addition to what others have said, when you are running and it's too much slow to a walk. Stopping and sitting down makes the recovery worse. Don't push yourself to point of collapse.

What?! You're joking! A helicopter to go a mile? I'm guessing it wasn't straight up a mile high cliff either.

Thank you

I'm not junk intolerant so much as having allergies to certain food preservatives and additives. It just so happens that what is thought of as junk food is more likely to have these preservatives/additives in them. So I can have (and love) a burger and chips..I just have to have fresh homemade versions instead of from a…

I go to TKMaxx and Cotswold. I refuse to shop at SportsDirect because of their Victorian/abusive employment practices.

That's amazing Ingrid! You've done so well to have lost over 200lbs in three years. You're a real trooper.

I have plenty of time to exercise. My issue is massive fatigue levels caused by a traumatic brain injury. I'm like in that sci fi story where one third the population slows down in time, one third stays on normal time, and one third goes on speed up time. I'm in the slow time. Everything takes me longer to do because I'm…

Not sure about the calculator...it says I have fitness of a 23yr old! (I'm 43) I even did all the extra questions so the calculator knew I have asthma. I'm not sure I believe it as I know my health is poor by my standards. I'm nowhere near where I was just a few years ago.

Absolutely the medical industry preys on people. Most of cosmetic surgery does..get a new nose because yours is too big to be considered beautiful...get bigger boobs...get liposuction...get butt implants...etc. Surgery to saw apart your leg bones, put in bars and screws and then slowly expand them..forcing your body to…

I used to have one. It was quite useful. Now I'm in the UK there is a grill function built into my regular oven. As well as grilling veg and meat, I'd use the George Forman grill to make hot sandwiches/paninis though...like ham and cheese.
-
I would suggest that you have a couple rest days built into your schedule. Because exercising twice a day EVERY day plus having a physically active job is probably part of the reason you are fatigued. You are not giving you body time to recover at all.

I'd always take a supply of anti bac wipes, baby wipes and hand sanitiser to festivals. I'd also make sure to shower every day even if I had to build the shower myself and use two gallon jugs ( one for my hair and one for rest of me...I'm a girl with long hair a guy could get away with a single gallon jug I am sure). I…

Agreed. I'd never do it myself but apparently there's a market for it.

Not so. Several brands have been approved starting with the Reshape dual balloon in 2015. Obalon balloon and the Obera balloon both FDA approved in 2016.
-
Yummy. I love fishing.
-
There is actually a pill that you swallow that has a balloon inside it which swells up and partially fills your stomach so you have to eat less. Once you've lost the weight, they stick a tube down your throat and deflate it. Then your body just processes the balloon and you excrete it. It's the new rage as it's cheaper and…

I agree with you. Just watch the show secret eaters and you can see that a common theme is that overweight/obese people consistently UNDER report what they eat. During the show they film the subjects and a nutritionist adds up what they eat. At the same time the subjects keep a food diary. There were always huge…

Oops do not use yeast or salt....did not mean to write yeast or flour. Sorry
-
I hand bake bread without any salt at all. Typically whole meal bread from flour made at a local sixteenth century stone mill. The salt is only there to put the brakes on the yeast and is what makes fluffy French style breads. The yeast all dies off when you put the loaf in the oven to cook anyway. I have a great cookbook…

Thanks! I missed that part of the article. I have cognitive impairments from a traumatic brain injury so I need people like you to point things out now and then. I think better of the toliet now. Before I was like thinking that these poverty stricken areas do not have electricity and when they do get it, it is usually…
