@HASWLRS. Thank you for the suggestion. I would love to have help from a stroke clinic to help with the decision, but due to the COVID situation, there is no stroke clinic. I am literally on my own with the occasional consultation with my general practitioner. I am so grateful for my wife's help in all this. My wife has…

@Chinkiri. Thank you for replying. The temptation to drop out of all contact is very strong. I do not mind you meddling in my family situation. If I did not welcome it, I would not post. In a number of ways, I am out of ideas and value others perspectives. I can see the stress my condition is causing my wife. I want to…

This is whats on your mind, so I'll unload a little here. Read at own risk. Note, I do have clinical depression, so it's more a rant than usual.

Quick follow up. Breakdowns came back and my LDL is now a lot higher than it ever used to be. So what I am doing now is no longer working and I need to change (again). Starting a low dose of statin, but will be monitoring very carefully. Hopefully I do not have my parents reaction to them (especially my mothers). Also…

April 15 Exercised: Yes (3km in 24 mins - hills) Tracked: Yes Budget: Yes Quick walk today. Had an afternoon phone conference and had only 30 mins to get walk in. Today was a challenging day. Daughter got flu shot. This is stressful for her at the best of times (and now is not the best of times). Managed to keep her calm…

@lacatgirl. This is a very hard time for a lot of people. I am so sorry to hear that all your plans for selling business and retirement were shelved. I hope your daughter remains OK. Youth does help in fighting off the effects of the virus. All the work on losing weight should give you the tools to maintain weight during…

April 14 Exercised: Yes (7.5km in 64 mins - hills) Tracked: Yes Budget: Yes Late walk today finished well after dark. Amazing how the eyes adapt to low light. Where I walk in the forest has no lighting, but you can still see enough after sunset to not lose the road.

April 13 Exercised: Yes (7.5km in 64 mins - hills) Tracked: Yes Budget: Yes Good walk today after walking with wife. Daughter still mentally fragile, so egg hunt postponed to next year. Current interpersonal restrictions are playing hell with her mental state.

@RangerRickL. Almost as if you wrote this for me :) The two I use extensively are:* Walking (hiking) * Bodyweight exercises Walking does not put impact on the knees. It is far less injury prone than jogging or running. If you "speed walk" you burn more calories than jogging without the joint stress. Walking can be done…

April 12 Exercised: Yes (7.5km in 64 mins - hills) Tracked: Yes Budget: Yes Rain held off today, so was able to walk. The planned video conferenced "egg hunt" was unable to be done. My daughter (the hunter) was in no state to participate today. Maybe tomorrow. Otherwise next year. Hope others had a good Sunday.

@inshapeCK. You are doing amazing work. The last 5 pounds are always the hardest. Sorry to hear of the pain attack. Gains and losses are never linear. The plan you have seems to be working (and is maintainable), so just continue back on plan any time you have a setback. You will get there. I assume you also have a…

@davert123. Thank you. It comes and goes. I am actually diagnosed as within a MDD (major depressive disorder) episode (and 3 other concurrent mental health conditions). Every day brings challenges and the COVID restrictions do make things more difficult. Unfortunately, my daughter was not in a state that would permit an…

April 11 Exercised: Yes (3km in 24 mins - hills) Tracked: Yes Budget: Yes Short walk between rain showers. Managed to pick the gap. Household still holding together during this time of "social distancing". Working to try an organise a video conferenced "egg hunt" tomorrow (for my daughter and her cousin). Have no idea at…

Rushed post last night. Let myself get over-tired and lost ability to self-regulate core temperature. It's one of my known warning signs. I managed to get wife out for a short walk before I went for a longer one. Still no improvement in the eye.

April 7 Exercised: No Tracked: Yes Budget: Yes Just when I though yesterday was tough, then there was today. Thank goodness for family. In short, I had a mini-stroke in my right eye yesterday. Can still see OK. The biggest concern is that I have such limited vision in the left eye that if I were to lose sight in the right…

@epangili. We try feed the Kookaburra's thinly sliced beef heart if we can get it (like small lizards and snakes to them). Otherwise it is minced meat. Kookaburra's are carnivores. They keep the snake population non-existent in our area (which is great considering what Australian snakes are like). 20 years next to a forest…
