I'm short, so have to move the driver's seat in my car seat pretty far forward to reach the pedals. I was driving around yesterday and thought I needed to move the seat up (spouse was driving last). I didn't -- the seat was as far forward as it goes. The steering wheel just wasn't touching my belly.

If the scale is going down, why on earth do you think you are gaining? If a friend asked me if I thought they'd lost weight, I'd feel 1) put on the spot and/or 2) as if they were fishing for compliments. Both would influence my response.
