  • So if she would have asked "Why?" or "How?", would it have been more or less offensive? I do not exactly see what is belittling in a question word. She was not saying anything about something the OP stated or about OP. She was asking a question in the most neutral way possible. You, on the other hand, were derailing the…
  • More than one. And chips. And I am just saying that, because I am a little jealous. ;)
  • There is a significant increase of genetic diseases like trisomy 21 in older mothers. But what we learned in the clinical genetics lecture was, there is also an even more significant increase in the ability to give a special needs child what it needs. So basically: They have a little bit increased risk, but they have a…
  • A meal replacement shake might help you to lose some pounds (if it is low calorie), but it will do nothing to "tone you up". If you have been maintaining your current weight with what you currently eat then you could basically add some exercise (resistance and strength) to build up/keep muscle (-> tone) and not eat the…
  • You are awesome! So many victories in such a short time are just baffling. And you look so happy I can't help but be very happy for you, too. :-)
  • I am so tired today. Just haven't been sleeping well all week and just going on and on. I have been telling myself, that I will recover during a weekend of being fed and allowed to sleep in as much as I want, but now I feel I need more than just a weekend and I am a little scared to gain from being fed and especially being…
  • Worst? Soylent, mixed with pea juice (which supposedly makes it "taste better").
  • They are called phytoestrogens. So far there is no conclusive proof that ingesting them changes a humans estrogen levels enough to have any effect. Avoiding it would mean that you also have to avoid a large number of other common foods like rice and oats, your morning coffee, carrots or apples.
  • I am currently sitting in a room which has a poster saying "biochemical pathways" on top. It might not be totally up to date but in the end this is what there is to metabolize any nutrient in any organism. You can choose different sets of it, take the long or the short route, not metabolize something at all and rely on…
  • Unfortunately (pull out method risks aside) it is quite similar to not eating anything you like because it is a diet. As naturally, the fertile days are the days where the woman is more interested and subconsciously can make that rub off to hubby as well.
  • I agree with @amtyrell. The first month with all the new stuff and things to read up on and easy progression at the gym was easy. The second was discouraging so far, as I did not see the same progression in the gym and so far do not feel my body is changing at all. Also I got much less satisfied with the same amount of…
  • Why do you need to poop every day? People have different frequencies and forcing you body onto one which is not right for you is not necessarily a good idea.
  • I reflect. I sit down and think, "Do you want to eat THIS? Or just something? Do you want to EAT or just stay busy?" And then I reflect what is stressing me out so much that I want to overeat. And why, and what I can do actually change the situation. I also think about how much I would feel guilty for stress eating, and…
  • @Bex953172 Of course we want baby bump proof! It is naturally ingrained in humans to like baby bumps. :# @HGSmith0920 Your husband-wife talk sounds awesome to me. My friends just got married, another is planning to and another already has 1 1/2 year old twins... and slowly it gets to me. I mean, I am planning to move out…
  • If you gave weight loss as your goal, you should eat the 2000 cals, as they have been calculated for our deficit. If you work out and burn 500 calories, you should log the workout. MFP will ask you to eat the calories back. Some people, especially if they are not in a very large deficit anyway do not eat them back or only…
  • I will join, but I am also gone for the weekend (Friday evening to Sunday evening) 1) Go to gym (1/2) 2) Track everything correctly before weekend (2/4) 3) Just enjoy the weekend and family food (0/3)
  • Ignore my previous thread. I have been stupid. I just called and told them and they laughed their kittens off that I had made such a fuzz about it. :( So embarrassed.
  • And tomorrow: 1) Get to work early to be prepared for meeting. 2) Eat more fruit 3) Again, do not stress out about not hearing from the fellowship. 4) Pack stuff for visiting family during weekend in the evening The treat is still there. Friday will actually be one month before the fellowship interviews. I don't want to…
  • Perception. Maybe "little Timmy" (which is demeaning, so I understand he would feel uneasy, as I generally can somehow feel other persons demeaning thoughts) had a bad day. In my perception, nobody talked to me in the gym for 6 weeks, finally in my 7th week in the gym one regular throws up a chat with me about "just the…
  • I had this happen in the first two or three weeks of exercising regularly. It went away. I blamed it to my body trying to learn to cope with the new energy levels.
  • I don't have regular cheat days, but I have had days like a wedding last week where I allow myself to just indulge in the fun. In the short run, I felt bloated and tired for about three days after and had a terrible low at the gym. In the little longer run, I gained all my strength in the gym back and some after five days…
  • I gave my scale a little kick today. Suddenly I was lower in body fat than yesterday and higher in muscle mass. So: Kick your scale. It helps.
  • I re-started birth control 2 years ago. I also lost weight in the last 1 1/2 years. Honestly, the effects are not that bad if your general hormone balance is fine.
  • @Bex95172 I so get you about "useless appointments" today. I went to the dermatologist, where I had an appointment I have been waiting for for about 3 months now. And they are on holiday. I mean... a good practice would be to plan holidays and not set up appointments during that time in the first place. But at least inform…
  • ;) Here on MFP that is a common thing to say 'I am on a plateau' and ' I don't measure everything because I am always under my goal.' Once more, just for good measure (no pun intended): If you don't measure everything you can not know if you are under your goal. You have not measured everything.
  • I am now running on 11 hours at work, no real lunch break (eating in front of the screen). I wrote some stuff for my thesis... I did not hear anything from the fellowship people. I mean, interviews are in about a month. They need to give people time to take at least two days off work and book plane tickets and stuff. I was…
  • You don't need to kick yourself in the butt, you need to stop doing that. You need to stop thinking of yourself as low in worth because you are overweight. Instead, think of yourself as high enough in worth to invest in, so you can get healthy and lose weight because you are worth it. Turn your thinking around. If you did…
  • It is okay, but it will make that weight be more likely to be fat and less likely to be muscle. Because you cannot build muscle from fats.

  • This may not be a thing in Europe... I have never seen a zero calorie label and when I log enough of cinnamon even that shows up as being 1 calorie.
