So at 10 lbs. it automatically changes? I have never noticed that but I guess since I manually have been changing it, it wouldn't do it.
-
Could be. I don't change my SW. I just click "update profile" and it changes the calories. I didn't WANT to do it, because I didn't want it to lower my calories, but I just did it. And it lowered my calores by TEN. I last inputted my weight on Saturday. So it did not change it automatically for me through "check in."

I don't know why MFP doesn't do this automatically. I've heard that it "does" on the app. I also use the phone but I always input my stats through the computer. Anyway, every 10 lbs. or so, people on MFP have said to go into SETTINGS and put in your stats again. (It will be there already). Click "Update your diet profile"…

I can only respond based on my own experience. I started at 237 in July 2017. Initially I lost at 2 lbs. per week until I reached about 212 lbs. In that time I had also reinputted my stats at least 3 times into MFP. (Have you been doing that?? I hear that on the phone app you don't need to, but you do on the computer). You…

With only 30 lbs. to lose you should not be trying to lose 2 lbs. a week. You have to eat at least 1,000 calories LESS than your maintenance in order to lose that. Losing 2 lbs. per week is for people who are obese, over 200 pounds.

I had two donuts. They are FREE in my apartment building today. I'm actually afraid to go to the gym because I'll have to walk past the donuts! It's hard to resist free ones. If I had to pay for it I wouldn't eat it. Other than today I've had about 2 donuts in the last 11 months!

You've been losing fast. I've lost about 45 lbs in almost a year. I had 100 to lose but only could sustain the 2 lb. Per week for about 20 lb. Since then I've been losing between .5- 1 lb. per week. I eat more though. I agree you may be eating more than you think so get a food scale. Perhaps ask your husband to read some…

So people don't know that they are supposed to eat them back. Others like seeing the scale go down really fast. In the long run that is counterproductive if they go back to they were eating before.

One of my main motivations for losing weight was to be able to move and do activity that I used to do and that I wanted to do (but couldn't at 237 lbs.) Visualize in your mind yourself being lighter and doing the activity that you want to do. This can be great inspiration if you look at it that way instead of beating…

When I was over 210 lbs. (Started MFP at 237) I had knee pain. I walked, but avoided stairs (especially down which is very high impact). Walking 1.5 miles was a lot for me. I had been very athletic before gaining weight, but I knew I could not do that at my starting weight. I had no choice but to walk to work then because…

I think you should review you activity level. If you are doing that walk daily you are probably NOT sedentary. This is creating an artificially low deficit of only 1200 calories. If you are regularly doing that much activity and you keep it at sedentary I think you should eat back 75%-100% of the exercise calories. I ate…

Well, are they including HFC (High fructose corn syrup) in SUGAR? In the 1970s or 1980s was when they started with the HFC.

When I was about 220 lbs. I started doing zumba once a week. I just used what MFP gave me for zumba, which I think was about 900 calories. I ate back ALL my exercise calories when I was losing at 2 lbs. per week. I had no trouble losing. You can just log what MFP says and then eat 50% or whatever you feel satisfied with. I…

Or buy a small cart for the groceries.

My TDEE at my goal weight of 137 will be 1600. (I'm 52). So depending on her age that could be her TDEE because she's short and at a normal weight. I think recomp with strength training and cardio might make more sense. 12 lbs. Is a lot to lose at that size, 10% of her body weight. To do it by dieting the deficit needs to…

Thanks for posting that link. It says we eat 23% more calories than in 1970s. That's a lot. The Tdee of my goal weight of 138 is 1600 calories. If I were to eat 23% more, that's 2000 Cal's per day, which is the TDEE of my current weight 191 lbs.

Different from you, in high school we had PE DAILY. So 5 days a week. I took it every year, I loved it. We had so many different classes, gymnastics, slimnastics, modern dance, all the team sports, running. Snacks were not something we did in my home, and like others said we didn't eat out much, soda was a treat--we rarely…

As weird as it sounds it could also be in the intestines and not a muscle--constipation, gas, etc.

There are a lot of muscles in the back and abdomen and they overlap. Where you are feeling the soreness might not be where the muscle originates. There are a lot of muscles involved in Zumba or any dance class. It could also have occurred outside of class if you carries packages or a heavy bag or suitcase.

We've already mentioned portion sizes and fast food. Not to pick on Starbuck's but considering that a lot of people make it a daily habit to buy these coffee milkshakes (and they aren't small either) that's a lot of calories if one drinks one daily. In the old days, in 1980s, it was very rare to buy coffee to go. I…

My hat goes off to you mothers! I'm single and have enough taking care of myself. Your schedule of full-time work and school PLUS a family sounds exhausting. You sound like you are burnt out, which is understandable with that schedule. Have you taken a vacation? A real two week vacation away from it all? Can you take a…

I love it: MyFitnessEnemies! This and the body flushing is entertaining. (No offense to anyone, I'm just having a good laugh).

In addition to what everyone else said, also recognize that a lot of the fad diets give you menus which are very low calorie so that you lose fast but in the process you do not learn how to maintain the weight loss. One thing that is different about the MFP process, if you follow the app and the calories it recommends to…

You can add me. I started in July 2017 and have lost 46 lbs. so far. I have 54 to go! My SW was 237, now I'm at 191. My goal weight is 137. Take it day by day. I'm 5'4" and 52 years old. My calorie intake is 1500-1600 per day (plus exercise calories) to lose 1 lb. per week.
-
Also was going to add that the goal is too agressive with only 15 lbs to lose. She can eat more and lose at a slower rate. I'd fix that first.
-
Yes. Just record the number and move on. If you are not overeating and are in a deficit then it could be water retention. If you gain two weeks or more in a row look at your logging and eating pattern. Eat less exercise calories, use a food scale, etc. Not weighing myself was how I put on about 60 lbs. Not saying that…

I've been to Italy 4 times (about 3-4 weeks each time) and each time I LOST weight. I was not tracking or watching what I ate. I was mostly in hilly areas so all of that walking probably helped. I ate pasta usually twice a day (lunch and dinner). Breakfast, except for the one time I stayed with some Italians, was usually…
-
It doesn't always overestimate. That depends on the person and the type of exercise. You have to experiment for a few weeks and see if you are losing at the rate you are supposed. If not eat more or less of the exercise calories.

Yeah, there is a blog feature.
