  • When I decided to make some diet changes I swore off Soda, Candy, and Fast Food. Its basically poison we reward ourselves with. I havent has any of it for a couple months now and truthfully I dont really miss it. I think taking a periodic sabatical from junk is a good idea.
  • Fiber and Water as others were saying. You can't eat enough vegitable (especially if your on a lot of protien which will back you up) If you just adopted a new diet your stomach might be a little upside down for a couple days trying to make sense of it, its normal. The ship will right itself eventually.
  • http://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/are-protein-bars-really-just-candy-bars-in-disguise-201512158848 "When you get right down to it, a Snickers bar isn’t all that much worse than many nutrition bars. For example, the difference in calories shrinks when the portion sizes are equalized. And the protein content of these bars…
  • Perhaps that is the problem, you wouldn't call it a candy bar -- you would lie to yourself that this was some kinda health food. It is the EXACT same thing with Whole Wheat Bread, people eat handfuls of it and then don't understand why they are gaining weight. Because it is bread, it has the same calories as white bread…
  • I see. I work the same hours, 6 - 230. I eat my 150 -to- 200 cal breakfast at 530 and that gets me to 10 when I have an 80 cal Greek yogurt. I still find essentially eating TWO breakfasts strange and wouldn't recommend someone eat a calorie rich candy bar while being on a diet.
  • So believing that a person on a diet should avoid calorie heavy candy is an 'interesting' idea? I was replying to a poster who had initially asked peoples thoughts on protein bars -- I think I answered that -- how other people choose to take it is on them. As far as demonizing food .. well .. I am not exactly sure what…
  • What did you have to remove from your daily meals to budget for that 200 calorie candy bar BEFORE breakfast? Pardon me if having breakfast before breakfast doesn't sound all that appealing for a diet unless you're a hobbit.
  • Take a multi-vitamin and try to establish an exercise routine (even walking a couple times a week). Any worries about muscle loss and calories deficits are unimportant when first starting weight loss. Keep it simple and try to not over burden yourself with all math.
  • Those protein bars are like 200+ calories a Bar. They are not for people on a diet AT BEST they are a meal substitute.
  • I agree with the above people, watch your Calories and you'll be alright. I was a lot like you when I started all this, macros and pie charts and this and that -- all of it looked like math and math can go f^ itself. Keep it simple, stay away from what you know you should be staying away from, and all this stuff will start…
  • You should only weigh yourself once a week (as another said, same day/same time/same clothing if possible) Weighing yourself every day will only lead to craziness.

  • As for the snack stuff, I was always a more Savory person. I got fat eating bread not Cheese Cake but I like Beef Jerky. For sweets, though, there are a bunch of marketed "100 calorie" packs which you could always throw in as a snack. If you like Ice Cream there is a company called "Halo Top", I have recently started…
  • A large amount of protein "in theory" keeps you fuller longer, they tend to a source of good fats and fiber. Basically, they are the Whole Wheat Bread of Candy Bars -- they have just as many calories as a candy bar, they just have more nutrient rich stuff. No people on diets shouldn't be eating them. I have found in my…
  • I started my weight loss ADVENTURE when I got my 6'3" frame onto the scale at the doctor's office and saw 434lbs looking back at me. That day I decided to keep myself between 1500 and 1700 calories a day --- I am always hungry (possibly for the first time in my life) But I have been at it for 4 months now and I am down 75…
