Thanks @Mrs_Hoffer Maybe that should have been my NSV--that I was able to disassociate an occasion from food! It's a tough psychological task when my whole life every occasion, holiday, celebration, and event has went hand in hand with food and drink--and LOTS of it. I wasn't sure I would make it through October without…

NSV day came at the perfect time this month! Yesterday I turned 60. The date that I had been dreading for months arrived, and instead of feeling depressed and ashamed of myself, I felt proud and content with what I have been able to achieve. On April 5th I embarked on a journey of sweeping changes and I have far surpassed…

Thanks @MadisonMolly2017 @WhatMeRunning @slimtastesbetter @summerskier @Mrs_hoffer I have been really busy but I do plan to respond when I get a chance. So much good info and it is great to hear that others have the same experience.

Exercise: :) Tracking: :) I was surprised today to learn how much protein is in brussell sprouts. Granted I ate 14 ounces, which might not be for everyone, but I struggle with minimal protein so it was exciting for me! Calories: :)

@MadisonMolly2017 The lack of hunger and cravings is one of the reasons I am fearful of not sticking with my current plan. I don't understand the science behind it, but maybe someone else does and will chime in. When I am eating indiscriminately I am hungry ALL of the time. I would describe my current diet as basically…

Exercise: :) A three mile walk, PT, and a bunch of random exercises. I suppose tomorrow I have to get back to the gym for weights and take a run. Tracking: :) Calories: :)

I am so sorry for all of the bad luck you have been having!

I stumbled across MFP in mid July through a google search for the calories in some food. I discovered I had already joined back in 2017, I assume for the same reason. Anyway, July was the first time I actually explored the website and started tracking. I joined UAC and one other challenge, and discovered the concept of…

@MadisonMolly2017 Thank you! I have decided to keep it simple for awhile and just continue with the same way I have been eating. I continually lose weight, I am rarely hungry, and I have not had a craving or veered off course once in over 6 months. Clearly the number of calories, (although too low according to popular…

Well, with the nugget series complete I have concluded that the half size author and I simply aren't compatible. None of it resonated with me, including the latest. I am very successful with rigid rules and plans. When things are loosey-goosey I start to unravel. Anyway, I respect everyone's journey and viewpoints and as…

Thank you everyone! I was very happy with my time! On a side note, one of my sons ran too, not because he had any interest but just to be supportive. He went for maybe 6 runs before the race just to be sure he could go the distance and threw down a casual 8:05 pace. Oh to be 24 again.... Exercise: :) LOL Tracking: :) Yes,…

IT'S DONE!!!!! I ran 15k. No pauses, not a single step waked. The race went well. Thanks to those who convinced me it wasn't insane to sign up, encouraged and gave advice along the way, and wished me the best last night. Final result: 1:37:30--10:36 mile pace. Pretty slow, but I am putting it out there in the universe…

@jamcnewman Thank you--I am so nervous!

Exercise: :) With the race tomorrow I could have used the excuse today that I shouldn't go to the gym for my weight circuit, but that's a slippery slope so I went and just did upper body as a compromise. Then I took a leisurely walk for 2.5 miles. Tracking: :) Calories: :) Maybe I should have eaten a little extra…

I only weigh once a week now. I have been given a lot of advice to weigh daily and use a tracking app once I start maintenance, but I am not sure if that will be the best for me or not. I will probably try it to find out because I do like data. Either way I think the scale is a crucial reality check, and in the past when I…

Exercise: :) Fartlek run today, 2.1 miles plus my usual collection of planks/wall sits/push ups and PT exercises to round it out. I flaked on the gym for my weight circuit...so I have to go tomorrow and I'll just do upper body. Tracking: :) Calories: :) What ever the hunger was yesterday it passed.

@madisonmolly2017 Thank you for your ongoing advice. This coming Thursday is a pivotal milestone for me, concluding Part I of my journey toward health and wellness which started a little over 6 months ago. Part II is vague right now and I am running out of time. I am really good with plans...not so much with playing it by…

Nugget #2 Oh, if only it were that easy...I think I am starting to see a trend with this lady. I will just leave it at that because I am feeling a little hangry right now, lol.

Exercise: :) Speedy 2.25 mile run today Tracking: :) Calories: :s , but :) So, right now, I feel like I am the hungriest I have been in the entire 26 weeks and 4 days that I have been plugging away at this. I don't know why. For the first time I am really considering just eating something--nothing crazy, like 100-150…

@WhatMeRunning @jamcnewman @MadisonMolly2017 @caroline_slowly @ashleycarole86 @ideas2 @kcjen Thanks to everyone for weighing in (unintentional pun!). The common theme seems to be that everyone is focused on getting to/staying at a "healthy" weight with BMI as a starting point. My primary motivation this time around is also…

Exercise: :) Weight circuit and a 3 mile run with various speed intervals. I wish I would have played around with intervals on my long runs. I am contemplating whether I should try it with the 15k. Tracking: :) Calories: :)

Thanks, I have never heard of her but I will have a listen--I am always looking for new sources of motivation and inspiration. As for Nugget #1, that one doesn't resonate with me. I have never felt I had to lose weight, but rather it has been a life long internal battle of wanting to. Actually I do very well with external…

I am curious how others determined their weight goals. I will just throw the topic out there because I have continued to move the goal post and realize that I don't have a clear idea where I am headed any more.

Exercise: :) It feels strange not to do any cardio, but I did a 30 minute flexibility/stretch video geared toward runners and I guess that counts as exercise. Actually I should count physical therapy for my knee as exercise...although I'm not convinced side planks, bridges, clam shells, donkey kicks, etc. are addressing…

I have been weighing, measuring, and tracking religiously since I'm committed to this challenge and because so many successful maintainers swear by it. Maybe it will help me in the long run...guess that remains to be seen. Exercise: :) 30 minutes on the elliptical Tracking: :) Calories: :)

Thank you so much!!!!!!

Exercise: :D OOF, today was my 8 mile run--last long run before the 15k next Sunday. Now I am just going into rest mode, protecting my body, and eating a bit more. I have done all I can do. Today was rough toward the end--my blood sugar evidently crashed, which scares me for next Sunday. I am not sure how to deal with…
