  • Good plan. There's another Aussie MFP doing the whole 30, she's done it a few times. Her user name is mmk137 (Matilda). Great idea to get people behind you as well as us!
  • 2 keto dudes podcasts are also great. http://2ketodudes.com/archives.aspx
  • Perhaps take a look at Dr Jason Fung... https://idmprogram.com/blog/ He is a wealth of knowledge about keto and health issues and has no financial interest - he just wants to see people get well. https://www.bewell.com/blog/q-dr-jason-fung-book-obesity-code/ Also Diet Doctor has a LOT of articles and videos to watch:…
  • @JoannaVenuto - sounds good. I like to have a teaspoon of mascarpone after dinner for a nice treat. I don't generally do a fat bomb but a bulletproof coffee in the morning is a good one - coffee plus 1tbs butter and 1tbs coconut oil - blend and drink. Yum.
  • Dr Jason Fung recommends a daily multi vitamin for keto and fasting.
  • https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/get-started/breakfast-options Some good options here. I am rarely hungry at breakfast time, so mostly I practice intermittent fasting and have my first meal at around 1-2pm. Then it's usually leftovers from the night before. My favourite breakfast is bacon, poached eggs and grilled…
  • I had really good intentions in my 2 weeks off at Christmas time, but the lack of routine always messes with me and I put on weight... Just make some sort of plan that you are happy with and stick to it one day at a time :)
  • Just for today I will try to live through this day only and not solve all my life problems at once. Done :)
  • There is a keto group that you can join and they do monthly challenges - have a search under groups for "keto". I don't know where you live (your profile is hidden) but I'm a 50yo Australian female starting keto this year, I have 25kg to lose. Sometimes it's more difficult to have friends in different countries and time…
  • @Alatariel75 it's good that you weighed in. Now you have a starting point!! Kiss that weight goodbye you never have to see that number again. As long as you have a plan that you are happy with and will stick to, that's all you have to do. I have always found that kicking off into something that is against the grain means I…

  • Non Scale Victory :)
  • Hello all, I've just joined the group today. Happy to find you here, thanks for the service. Day 3 no sugar, no wheat, no alcohol. Also went to a F2F meeting :)
  • Today I had a long black :) I'd love to be able to get a bulletproof coffee when I'm out and about. I did think about changing my profile name, but I've been on here for years under the same name and I'm kind of attached to it!
  • Sounds like spontaneous intermittent fasting has kicked in for you!
  • @wilbernel - enjoy your course!
  • Weighed myself this morning. 88.8kg so I'm down 3 kilos this week which I am very happy about. That should give you an idea of how badly I was eating last week! I'm currently a size 16-18 depending what brand of clothing I'm wearing. Of course, that's just depleted glycogen stores, it's not all fat but hopefully some of it…
  • Saturday - yay!! Thought I would put a copy of my plan here that I posted on my wall. Have to go to a meeting now but will be back later to check in on everyone. Tansy and Wilbernel new members welcome! ***** In no particular order: 1. Follow a ketogenic diet. I've stuffed up my metabolism so badly over the years that I…
  • Hi there, I am looking for active KETO MFPeeps who would like to connect. I am a 49yo Sydney female, needing to lose 25kg this year (again). I've suffered from eating disorders all my life and want to be free of them once and for all. Also don't want to turn 50 and be frumpy - I want to be 50, fit and fabulous! I am…
  • Was just reading back through the thread and the sleep issue jumped right out at me! I agree, when I have been doing keto in the past my sleep was terrible. According to the 2ketodudes podcast it's quite common ...
  • Thanks this is great, I would like to join the challenge as well. Hopefully better late than never and I'll be properly prepped for February. Thanks to Nikki for doing the spreadsheet, I added my numbers. Was a bit shocked to see that when I convert kg to lb I was over 200lb... eek! But that is going to go down from now…
  • I'm starting keto again. Tried it last year and did quite well for a couple of months and then food addiction hit me hard. I'm a recovering binge eater. So I'm back with dietdoctor.com and will be doing 16/8 IF every day and then some extended fasts (with only water and salt) once I get through the initial stage.
  • Sydney, Australia I am a 49yo Sydney female, wanting to lose 25kg this year (again). I've suffered from eating disorders all my life and want to be free of them once and for all, have started 12 step recovery and want to focus on improving my life this year. Also don't want to turn 50 and be frumpy - I want to be 50, fit…
  • I had a good day yesterday. In the past I've found the first 3 days to be the hardest, and weekends are difficult without work routine but I'm determined to get through one day at a time. Did a walk and a quick weights workout this morning and feeling good! I needed to update my Apple Watch, so don't have it on today but…
  • FOODS ON THE YES LIST!! Just thought I'd add the foods that we CAN eat :) Fats & Oils. Try to get your fat from natural sources like meat and nuts. Supplement with saturated and monounsaturated fats like coconut oil, butter, and olive oil. Protein. Try to stick with organic, pasture-raised and grass-fed meat where…
  • I have sent friend requests... For anyone new to the list - I am looking for active KETO MFPeeps who would like to connect. Australians would be good, so at least we are in the same time zone, but anyone following a keto lifestyle is welcome! I am a 49yo Sydney female, wanting to lose 25kg this year (again). I've suffered…
  • Dr Fung is terrific, I really loved his books, read his blog and listen to the podcast. I've been doing 16/8 IF on and off for years and when I was really super fit it was just something that I did automatically. The more fat that you have in your diet, the easier it is to do. I've also done longer fasts up to 7 days…
  • Avocado and boiled egg
  • Me too! I'm back after a break and gaining weight. I am a 49yo female, live in Sydney, need to lose 25kg (again). Am planning to do a keto diet and wont be logging food but am aiming to log in every day. I aim to walk at least 10,000 steps a day and will be looking to get back into lifting weights again. Would really like…
