I try to eat all of my exercise calories, but that can be a bit tough on days I train 3-4 hours (just Fridays, really). It's NBD if you are in weight loss mode, but if you are trying to maintain strength, you should try and eat your full allotment.

I never isolate abs. I do heavy core lifts, some kettle bell stuff, and lots of jiu jitsu. Results are as you see. Far from perfect but good enough for me, with function > aesthetics.

Yes, they go hand in hand (I don't think you intended the pun), but the point is that you can do lower back extensions all day and, as long as you are not in a caloric deficit, your back rolls aren't going anywhere.
