Made it through my biggest habit - pouring a glass of wine when I cook dinner. Two days down. Today wasn’t too hard but I’ve had a headache all evening. Jan 2 = no alcohol Jan 3 = no alcohol

I’m curious about people’s thoughts on the Naked Mind. I read it yesterday on a 7 hour drive. I skimmed a lot of it because it was very repetitive - these are my thoughts. - I liked her focus on everything you Gain by not drinking. So much of abstinence is about the “battle” instead of it being something joyful or good.…

I went through an awful year of anxiety in 2016 and I sadly would drink wine in the evening just to feel normal. I have an aversion to hangovers so it’s always been 2-3 glasses just enough to calm my mind, but it became really habitual and daily. Now that my anxiety is so much better, the habit is clearly something really…

I’m doing dry Jan - first time in many years since I was pregnant I am planning to go a long time without wine. I’m excited to really get healthy this month.

I travel a lot too and tend to go to work dinners that are hard to avoid not going way over on calories. My tricks are nuts, eating a really calorie light/ protein dense breakfast (poached eggs, fruit) and then I also try to get outside and walk in the morning before meetings - I motivate myself by blogging about my travel…

I started doing IF 16:8 and loved it. I gave it up for the past week with Christmas but found it was an easy way to control calories without feeling deprived. I could have nightly dinner with my family as usual. I plan to start up again in Jan. I’m also curious about the 5-2 where two days a week you fast and eat 500…

I just find Kettlebell workouts free on YouTube - there is a 25 minute one by Amy something I do a lot.

How many are planning to do a dry Jan? I am planning to give up wine for the month (I also started intermittent 16:8 fasting) - I’m turning 40 in March and have a goal to be my healthiest, and fittest possible. Maybe whoever is doing dry Jan we could make a challenge group?
-
I am doing the 16:8 and so far like it. I hate doing small meals throughout the day- and like that I can have a bigger lunch and dinner and even treats. I’m hungry this morning but break fast in a few hours.

Good article!

Totally! My comment actually got cut off for some reason. I’m definitely not giving up until Jan - just going to be more realistic w all the social stuff. Love this motivation of the thread though!

This is cool I’m new to mfp so I didn’t know about that complete feature. Day two of ✅

I’ve been doing terrible this month in terms of dry days. we’ve had parties and social events almost daily and I’m kind of giving up until Jan

I’m 5 ft 8 - I have hovered around 142 for many years but the last few months I gained five pounds and I’m at 148 and everything feels tight. Ideal weight is 140-142 - when I drop too low I lose all the fat in my face and my nose takes over lol - I’m very active and run 15-20 miles a week.

Last night we had friends over - hubby made his amazing bacon burgers and I had wine and a beer. Definitely not the healthy meal and no alcohol I was planning but getting back on track today :)
-
Dec 5 - nothing Dec 6 - 2.5 glasses red wine Dec 7 - Def planning to not drink tonight

One thing you can do is set a limit on when to stop drinking. I try and stop by 7 so it doesn’t disrupt sleep. Meditating using an app like Headspace is great for relaxing. I also love to read.

I would like to join this group. I love having wine at the end of the day, but usually one glass turns to two. I would like to lose about 6 pounds and I know just keeping wine in check will help keep the pounds off this month!
