A lot of people are okay with the "exercise" part because fitting in a half hour walk--or even weight session--a few times a week seems a lot easier than counting calories and meal planning.

The new BMI does a better job of accounting for taller people and might solve your problem. But this is why my proposition was not that overweight people are penalized through taxes, just that they don't receive a tax credit, just like people who don't have kids don't receive a tax credit. It isn't a punishment.

Measuring cups and spoons are often inaccurate, and prepackaged foods can be off by up to 20% in weight while still meeting the legal requirements of accuracy. I weigh everything, even prepackaged foods, peanut butter, shredded cheese, etc. and have caught 100s of extra calories that way.

Is OP a bodybuilder or linebacker? If not, I don't see how this is relevant.
-
Depends on the source of the saturated fat and how your body deals with it. I agree with above poster that tracking your cholesterol is the best way to answer this question, because every body is different.
-
You've got visible abs at 142. If OP is in a similar boat, she might not need to go much below 137; recomp might be a better goal.

I get this way around my TOM sometimes. Try going for a walk when that feeling hits, because at least then you aren't around food for awhile and earn back some exercise calories to make the binge less impactful on your deficit. Maybe try setting your goal at maintenance for a few days and see if the feeling passes.

Hopefully you're getting iodide in your diet somehow if you're so strictly avoiding sodium, including table salt (which is usually fortified with iodide).

It's easier for me to run on a treadmill because it's easy to pace myself an also has shock absorbers, making for a softer surface. This is especially relevant if your track is paved, instead of the fancier track material that is softer and easier to run on. Slow down your pace and your distance and see if that helps. If…

A calorie deficit of only 100-300 calories is very easy to miscalculate, ESPECIALLY if you are eating back exercise calories, which might over-estimate your burn. I can easily be off by 100 calories if I eyeball anything, especially oils or nut butters, or if I trust the packaging on any pre-packaged goods instead of…

My mom had her gallbladder removed 20 years ago and can eat anything. Fats, sweets, leafy greens, none of it adversely affects her. It might have when she first got it out (no idea, I was very young), but it definitely doesn't now so for her at least it got better.

I've never really thought about/noticed hip dips. Now that I am thinking about them, the fittest person I know, my best friend (who is also super attractive and modeled in her early 20s) has noticeable hip dips. She's 5'2, 110 pounds, and a yoga instructor who also does crossfit. They are obviously more genetic than weight…

Agreed there is no "save mode" or "starvation mode." That said, I have in the past, on a previous weight-loss journey, managed to knock myself off a plateau/trigger a "whoosh" several times by completely gorging myself for a day or two. Think me, myself, and an entire large pan pizza from Pizza Hut (pineapple and green…

I was diagnosed with Mittelschmerz when I was 14. I don't experience it every month, and mine is is no worse than my regular menstrual cramps, but when I am experiencing it I typically don't move around as much because I find that irritates my already irritated fallopian tube. I'd see a gyno about this just to make sure…

This. CICO is the way to lose weight. If you really want to work out, you could get some dumb bells and do some upper body workouts, but don't count on that for your calorie deficit.

One day at 800 would even it out; consistently eating 800-1000 is a serious problem.

I'd love the answer to this, too. Like, I'm sure a mL of Almond milk weighs approximately as much as a mL of water, so the mL=gram would be 1:1, but that close approximation probably doesn't apply to all liquids. Is looking up the densities the best bet, or is there an easier way?

Feel free to be rude and ignore people. Unless they are coming up to you asking for a spot, they are being rude by interrupting your workout IMO, especially if you are wearing headphones which is typically a pretty good "don't talk to me" clue. You can tell them "Sorry, I'm on a time crunch and don't have time to talk…

I can understand not weighing eggs, but milk and almonds (especially almonds!) need to be weighed.

I think a mandatory yearly physical should be put in place, and at that time the doctor can calculate your BMI, which you would then submit as part of your taxes in return for a tax credit if you are in a healthy BMI range or no tax credit (or at least a reduced tax credit) if you are in an unhealthy range.

I'm the same height and roughly the same weight. I suggest getting down to your goal weight, which is a healthy weight, and seeing how you feel then. There is no such thing as "set point" or "happy weight," but you might find that it is too hard for you to maintain at a lower weight and will end up choosing to maintain at…

Some people do that not to cheat the system, but because they need other necessities like toilet paper that SNAP doesn't pay for.

Some choices are objectively bad choices or destructive to your marriage. If I choose to cheat, my spouse should not be expected to support me. Likewise, if I get so morbidly obese that I cannot get out of bed, clean my own body, change my own clothes, or care for my own children, I don't think that my spouse should have…

It depends. A fad diet? Absolutely not. A diet that they are forced into following by their parents because the parents are embarrassed about their child's weight? Also absolutely not. However, if a 13-year-old feels self-conscious about his or her body, their parents and pediatrician can help guide them toward healthier…

Sweat has nothing to do with intensity. When I first started running, it was about 10 degrees Fahrenheit here, I was wearing tons of layers, out of shape, and still not sweating a lot because it was so cold. Now I'm better at running, wearing fewer layers, but sweating more because it is warmer out.

I believe anything where the serving size comes to less than 5 calories can be labeled as zero cal. Which is unfortunate because some people overspray, and 5 hidden calories several times a day can add up over time.
-
I'd focus on your average speed/rate and try to increase your average speed during a session (7.2 mph for 30 min instead of 6.8 mph for 30 min) or how long you can maintain a certain speed (6.8 mph for 45 minutes instead of 30 minutes). Or you can just try to increase the amount of calories the machine says you burn during…

Anything labeled "fat free" or "light" that makes people believe it is healthy makes me laugh. Was fat demonized in the 80s or 90s? Either way, to make it taste good they typically end up loading that food up with sugars and other fillers, which makes it no more healthy than the original, full-fat version most of the time.

There is (according to some research/sources) an after burn effect from some forms of exercise, while even after you stop exercising your body burns more calories than it would if you hadn't exercised. Depending on sources and types of exercise, this can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. That said, I don't…

I think a better title would be healthy =/= low calorie. It could have very healthy ingredients with good fats and lots of protein, and be a great choice if your caloric needs are 3000/day, but it's a lousy choice if you only need 1500/day.
