Bertha, I just started this journey myself last week and have found the people here to be incredibly supportive and their stories are really encouraging. Happy to meet you!

Mellykay88: that's a really cool idea, although I'd need a much bigger jar!

That was a great read, thanks for sharing!

san1943: I echo a lot of the earlier sentiments. I understand not wanting to write in your diary because you are embarrassed by what you've eaten; I was afraid to step on a scale initially out of fear of what it would say. But whether or not I knew my weight didn't change it, much like not writing something in your diary…

Something different I am doing is weighing myself a lot less. I became a bit obsessed with checking the scale and my motivation became greatly tied into my success on the scale that week. I am planning to weigh myself once a month. If I have steady weight loss, I will continue doing it that way because I can't risk getting…

I definitely find it helpful. Anyone is free to add me :)

jules81: 5 minutes will do more than you think if you are starting out. i I find it amazing how quickly our bodies respond to exercise and before you know it, you will be able to crank out a nice long ride for yourself!

@freddieg275 : Glad you're here- people here are incredibly kind, inspiring and understanding because we are all on the same journey.

That turtle is adorable! The other one I love is what kicked my butt into gear to start this journey on Jan 15th. Last year on that date, I thought about how I needed to get healthy and read this quote. Sure enough, I remembered it last week and it rang true: I found every excuse in 2017 to not lose the weight, and a year…

This is something my mother said to me when I told her how slow I am walking on the treadmill...

@alevans4 I think that is probably more common than we think. I was about 50 pounds heavier than I thought (and I wasn't happy about the weight I *thought* I was!) That's why I am setting smaller, more manageable goals for myself so I don't get overwhelmed by the big number I want to lose :)
-
Feel free to add me; I'm also hoping to start a family so I am losing weight in an effort to have an easier pregnancy if/when that happens :)
-
Randy: great job; I will be checking that book out! JoAnn: Lowering your insulin is an awesome benefit to your weight loss! Bert: very inspirational! Keep it up! :)

I am focusing mainly in CICO. I am using MFP every day and it has been really helpful keeping me honest with myself about what I'm eating. My diet has been very simple: english muffin with a little pb, some yogurt for breakfast, protein shake for lunch and salad with a grilled protein for dinner. If I get hungry between…

While I have been working out, I am trying to incorporate little instances of movement I didn't before. For example, if I go somewhere, I purposefully park at the back of the parking lot so that I have to walk further to get to and from my destination, and if I watch something I dvr'd, instead of fast forwarding through…

You got this! Happy to friend anyone looking for support :)

Feel free to add me :)

@fatoldladyonamission That's awesome that you are under 300 now! Hopefully I will be able to say the same thing in time! I think I sent you a friend request (although I'm not positive, as I'm still learning how to navigate this website on my phone). Hopefully it comes through! :) Keep up the great work- maybe one of your…

I'm at the beginning of my journey and will happily accept requests of any positive people :)

@rabidhamster87 "Did we just become best friends?" (Stepbrothers quote). We definitely have similar stories! I actually was born in 81, so I am a little older than you (my soccer number used to be 88). I told my husband my reward idea and he teased me a little about being "crazy for babies," but said he thought it was a…

This may sound a little silly but since I just started on Monday, I don't have ""bigger" victories just yet. But in the last few days of eating healthy, my skin has cleared up and I have been sleeping wonderfully, which lately, I had not been. I am attributing that to my healthier eating because nothing else has changed in…

Hi! I posted in the other form too but was a little late to the party! For the QOTW: I have a bigger goal in mind which is to get back down to 190 which I was at years ago. While that is not where I would like to end up, at least being there would mean I got back to where I last left off with my weight loss. My husband and…

Thank you for making this thread. I managed to lose about 60 pounds six or seven years ago but I have since gained it all back +100 pounds of interest. Silly as it sounds, despite weighing 350 pounds, I never thought of myself as looking particularly big. I guess it was just easier to lie to myself and not admit what I…
