  • Happy Friday! Thank God it's the weekend!
  • Those memes are hilarious, and yes ultra, I agree- the saddest ones are the people who still don't change. It's just heartbreaking because it could have been avoided altogether. They just don't realize what they're missing out on. It's beyond sad!
  • But that's a close family member and I can't really get out of that situation. If this were a significant other, it would probably be a deal breaker for me. But that's just me. I would have to be with someone who is health-conscious and leads a healthy lifestyle.
  • As for how to get that naysayer to stop, well, you can't, really. Just like they can't control you, you can't control them either. It works both ways. I can't convince someone to live a healthy lifestyle if they don't want to, and vice versa, they can't convince me to revert back to my unhealthy ways. The only thing you…
  • Oh yeah! Only mine is not a significant other but my grandmother whom I help take care of. And you just described her to a T! I'm the same way- hate being told what to do. According to her, you'd think I couldn't do a damn thing for myself. Every day I get at least one lecture about how I shouldn't go to gym, shouldn't eat…
  • This! Yes, the people around the morbidly obese person that do this stuff to them are enabling and it gets me mad, too. Or when they're coming back from the doctor and go on the drive thru line for lunch *facepalm* That's probably the saddest part of the whole show- when the family turns a blind eye and continues to feed…
  • Yeah it's a pretty interesting show. I'm not really all that into reality shows, but this one is good because I find it motivating. On the one hand, it's sad to see these people in the terrible state that they're in. Their whole lives ahead of them, yet they are so heavy that they can't even get out of bed. It's just…
  • Congratulations on your success! Awesome job!
  • Awwwe Dave! Sending you lots of hugs. I get what you're saying, I go through the same thought cycle in my head from time to time. Like when I'm doing great, sticking to my diet and then I look in a mirror at my big thighs and go "how the hell did I get like this!?!" It's totally depressing and yeah "a shot to the gut".…
  • Wow! Great job Charlotty!
  • I'm sure the bread and cheese thing was probably just the tip of the iceberg for you to move out. Bread and cheese in small moderation isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it can easily be overdone. My grandmother does the same thing with italian food- she goes WAYYY overboard in terms of quantity. I try to stop her and say…
  • Mesclun greens, crumbled gorgonzola, cranberries, walnuts and avocado with balsamic vinaigrette.
  • Hi Jenna! I'm Kim. That's wonderful that you've decided to live a healthier lifestyle. Trust me, it's a great journey. I've been at it for going on three years and never looked back. Down 120 pounds, almost out of the plus size range and getting myself into great shape besides. Best decision I ever made! That's great that…

  • I like Eat the Bear Whey Protein Isolate. Walmart carries it. Really good, keeps me feeling full, and no stomach ache afterwards.
  • As someone who has "been there, done that", I speak from experience that upping the protein intake during the day curbs binges completely. Turns out I'm not getting enough protein, not hitting that goal. When I eat adequate protein, problem goes away.
  • My kitchen is in a separate room, as opposed to my old apartment where everything was open concept. In my experience, this has had little to no effect on my eating habits. It's only during the rare times when I'm watching television that I feel temptation to eat food. Even that's largely due to boredom, not home layout…
  • I can relate, my part time job at the local library almost always has food. I've learned its best to just keep my eyes down, refill my water bottle and avoid "the corner" (table where all the bad food is).
  • Yeah, scary isn't it? To think I used to eat big bowls of pasta without a second thought. Nowadays I prefer spaghetti squash- a lot less calories, a lot less carbs, and I can eat a bowl of it without guilt. Think I'll make it this weekend. The portion sizes are just out of control, especially in restaurants. I'm pretty…
  • Second Act. It was okay.
  • I'm getting near that point myself. Avenue sizes are getting to be too big (and I swear their fashion sense is getting uglier!) but I'm still a tad too big for most "normal" clothing stores.

  • IronBunny, I am very sorry to hear that. It sucks, I know, but trust me you're better off. Partners are suppose to be supportive of us and want the best for us. Any partner who doesn't want you to be healthy and happy is not worthy of you. This goes for anyone in our lives, really. I have lost friends since this journey…
  • Want to get down to at least 180 pounds, but might go a little lower depending on how things go.
  • My weight. I'd like to be thin again! But I'm changing that... ;)
  • Hi Dave! I'm Kim. Welcome back, I'm always looking for new friends to support on this weight loss journey. I've been at it now for going on three years and lost 120 pounds. So yeah, it can definitely happen. It can be done! You got this!
  • 'Normal' means different things to different people. "Normal" in my opinion means what you do on average. Normal is your most common routine from day to day. For example, in terms of my "normal", I eat three square meals a day, and 2 sometimes 3 snacks besides (morning, noon and night). It's what those meals and snacks…
  • Falling in line right behind you all- I love produce! I am all about the fruits and veggies since this journey began. One of my favorite times of year is coming up and all the Pick-Your-Own produce fields will be open! Cannot wait, one of the best summer activities. Nothing like fresh off the farm fruits and veggies.
  • Thank you for asking this, mbaker. I'm switching to morning workouts before work and have also been wondering what to bring in terms of a pre-work workout. Everyone's responses are really appreciated, it helps give me a comprehensive idea of what to pack. Thanks, all! B)
