  • 30 minutes on the exercycle and a bit of marching with Air Force Band.
  • Today's workout was feeding branches into a big chipper-mulcher. I hate that machine. It's loud, the branches kick back and fly up in my face, I have to wear ear and eye and sun protection, and that scene in "Fargo" where they hide the evidence of a murder by putting the body into one of these machines keeps coming to mind.
  • Welcome!
  • Fitness trackers are awesome, aren't they? I haven't got one yet but I made Pokemon Go and my iPhone track my walking, and it was hugely motivating!
  • That's a solid good start! Must feel good!
  • If it makes you feel alive and happy, sure! Plus it's a skill, it requires focus....very like a Jedi!
  • An hour of gentle exercycle while watching a couple of episodes of Dr Who. Then realised I needed to move a whole pile of brush cuttings to the mulcher before it rains. Ran out of energy before I could run the mulcher though. Ugh.
  • Ugh. Still got a cold. But my fanfiction won't write itself so I made myself sit on the exercycle on a really slight resistance and kept twirling along slowly while writing. 50 painless minutes later I'd made a decent start on this chapter and done a few kms of cycling too. I'm whacked now though. Back to bed.
  • Brilliant way to get fit!
  • What in the name of all that is cute is that?
  • What if Rey found the idea of eating a creature disgusting? As far as she remembers, food is powdery stuff that comes in packets. It'd be a bit challenging to eat something that has eyes and looks back at you. I imagine Kylo getting half way through his lobster, really ripping into it (maybe it's a high-ranking First Order…
  • This tomato curry with poached egg. Lots of protein and vegetable goodness. You need some harissa paste but the rest of the spice ingredients are optional I reckon. I throw in a whole lot of greens as well - we have swiss chard/silverbeet in the garden as well which is very healthy, and the curry hides the taste, if you…
  • Ugh. Today is a nesting day. I'm going to curl up in bed and cough. It's cold and wet outside, and I have a sore throat. Sore lots of other things as well, thanks to the workouts so far this week! So glad I forced myself to go into the office yesterday and and do enough hours to finish my week's work so today I don't have…
  • That is awesome! I'm really happy to hear of writers who take a long, long time to grow their stories. I think it's pretty obvious when you read somebody's work when they'd been thinking about it and perfecting it in their mind for a long time.
  • Sounds like a good way to go, starting slowly. What will you be able to eat? Also, it's a good idea to come up with a strategy for when you're eating with other people, so you can enjoy food as part of your social life without feeling like you're failing the diet or being a pain in the neck to other people who just want to…
  • We just friggin' forget how good it feels to move, don't we?
  • Oh oh here's a good one: Grab a weight with each hand. Or a tin of beans or something. Stand there and punch the air, left right left right, letting your hips follow the lead of your fist, and feeling the muscles down your side/ribs stretch and pull as you strike out and pull your fists in. Check a martial arts tutorial or…
  • I've tried a few things over the years - Sugar-free September, Dry July (no alcohol) but never saw any change in my weight. I guess my diet isn't bad. It's just that I eat the same as I did when I was 20, and my metabolism doesn't burn it up any more. I've gone back to doing the only thing that ever worked, the 5:2 diet.…
  • This is a good idea! I'm on the exercycle....I guess my fitness plan is to spend my morning internet browsing time doing it on the bike. Messed around on Facebook and other stuff for a while, checked the counter on the bike and I'd done 45 minutes so I figured I could keep going til I'd done an hour.
  • Same here. Falls are what suck the quality right out of life for older people. They lose their sense of balance, their bones are weak, they fall, and once they're recovering from a hip operation or only able to hobble along because of pain they're really vulnerable to all kinds of further problems.
  • Certainly planning to if my cold gets worse! I plan to watch Star Wars Rebels as soon as I can get my hands on it.
  • Ooh oooh ooooo. Woke up with a sore throat and a cough today. But I figured if I was well enough to mess about on the Net, I was well enough to do it while sitting on my exercycle. 50 minutes later I felt all better.
  • I walked to work, which today was sorting music from a concert last weekend. Kind of mindless work, which I don't mind. I'm aching all over from hitting the weights/exercycle yesterday, so that's good. Teacher meeting after school...teacher's concerned our son won't cooperate at school camp so we brainstormed some…
  • What a great goal! Let us know how you're going on the writing goals too please, if you don't mind sharing.
  • That sounds like an awesome group of friends to have! So much fun! I really struggle to connect with people with similar interests here, so it's great that you've got lots!
  • Quidditch? How awesome is that??!
  • So, General Organa called me into her office this morning, and I could tell by the serious look she gave me that it was not something good. "First of all, I want to reassure you I've heard nothing but praise for your work," she began. "So I hate to bring this up with you. But some of your colleagues have been talking..." I…
  • To raise my son right so he's ready to launch into the world as a person as a good, responsible adult with his imagination and creativity intact. To write a novel and get it published! Preferably a family drama romance action thriller set in space with lots of exotic planets and aliens and spaceships. Meanwhile I'm writing…
  • Okay, this is a bit heavy, but that cartoon really struck a chord with me. One of the reasons I'm getting fit now is the death of my father recently made me realise again how precious life is, and what a miracle are the bodies we live in. We only get one chance at life and one body to do it in; to watch somebody's body…
  • Me? I'm 53 and I live in New Zealand. I want to go down two dress sizes and get stronger. I walk to work 2- 4 times a week, that's a half hour downhill and 45 minutes uphill. But we have an exercycle and a home gym that my husband got because he wants to improve his health, so I can definitely do more with those. For…
