@Styggian Good on you for sticking to your guns (goal/commitment) and posting the progress even though you've had a bad time since the accident. Don't be too hard on yourself though -- I can barely notice the difference even though the scales don't lie (I guess they don't... maybe they do!) -- and circumstances were beyond…

7kcal/minute according to here: https://www.acefitness.org/certifiednewsarticle/1094/ace-sponsored-research-hooping-effective-workout ETA: The study participants were "intermediate- to advanced-level hoopers" so I don't know if your skill level affects the energy expenditure. Also: a) there were only 16 study participants;…

You could also ask your Dr or dietician (not a nutritionist because this would be for treating what is essentially a medical condition) about plant sterols. Very basically, plant sterols are the the plant version of cholesterol and may reduce blood cholesterol levels. [...] cholesterol in the blood can be reduced on…

Frying the fish is unlikely to destroy any significant amount of omega-3. For omega-3 to be destroyed, the flesh of the fish needs to remain at a temperature high enough to oxidise the fatty acids and unless you fry it until there's nothing but ash that's not going to happen. The amount of omega-3 in basa is typically…

Ok, that's better than other sites I've found in that your reference at least addresses normal, hypo- and hypercaloric energy intakes. It still seems a bit less than 0.8g/lb... the recommendation on that site for optimal protein intake is 0.54–0.82 g/lb, 0.64–1.50 g/lb for gain (hypercaloric diet), and 1.00-1.50 g/lb when…

I keep seeing 0.8g protein per pound thrown about on this forum but can't seem to find out where this recommendation actually comes from. The closest I've found is the dietary guidelines of many countries but they are 0.8g per kilogram (not pounds). Can anyone provide a source (or better still, sources) for the g/lb…

In science the burden of proof falls on the person making the claim not the person disputing the claim. You're the one claiming that saturated fats are healthy; therefore it's you who has to provide reference to solid studies and "proof". The paper you've linked to does not support your view that saturated fats are…

Saying that saturated fats might not increase risk factors for non-communicable disease such as CVD, CHD etc, as previously thought, is not the same as saying that saturated fats are healthy.
-
I cannot find a single paper that says healthy fats included saturated fats. The fact is that the vernacular term "healthy fats" does not include saturated fats -- whether that's "fair" or not is immaterial to what the term actually refers to. I also cannot find a single paper that concludes that saturated fats are…

@WholeFoods4Lyfe Since when are bacon fat, tallow, ghee and coconut oil considered healthy fats? All of these are very high in saturated fats (saturated fats are not considered "healthy fats"). What are "bad" fats if these are included in the healthy list? Just trans fats?

It didn't ask me if it wanted to change my calorie goal, it just did it

Be very careful The Redhorn Gate (or Redhorn Pass) is notoriously treacherous, being noted especially as the site of Elrond's wife Celebrían's abduction by Orcs in T.A. 2509 :-o

Wow! What is it? A spider?

If you miss fruit then eat fruit. If you're in an energy (calorie) deficit then you'll lose weight. There's no point in making yourself miserable by missing out on foods you like to eat: especially things like fruit. Your regime can simply be logging consistently and as accurately as you can

The only problem at the moment is that there are several bugs; the food analysis doesn't work for more than 30 days of previous entries and exporting data has missing data (if you do multiple exercises on a single day only one exercise is exported so you cannot work out net energy from the data). Hopefully they fix these…

A type of clarified butter; i.e. butter with the milk solids removed (leaving the milk fats) Ghee is typically prepared by simmering butter, which is churned from cream (traditionally made by churning dahi), skimming any impurities from the surface, then pouring and retaining the clear liquid fat while discarding the solid…

You could also try ghee

Congratulations. And that mocktail sounds yummy. I'm gonna have a ginger beer

The MFP entry is not wrong (in the sense that the data on the can is exactly the same as what's in the MFP entry, so they match). There's a reason the can says "about" 2 servings because it really is an approximation. Edit: I'm not actually sure what the OP is talking about because the entry in MFP is for 1 serve of 257…

It's best to use kilojoules instead of kilocalories because it's about 4 times more accurate.
