  • I need to be kinder and more patient with myself. I just found this helpful thread, I'd like to focus on mini-goals so I don't beat myself up when I don't reach the "big" goals in my unreasonable expectations.
  • I like that you're consulting a doctor on this. So many people have unreasonable goals. That used to be me, talking to my doctor made things a little easier.
  • Would you mind sharing with me how you do this? I have this problem and all the ED joys along with it, there are no ED therapists/counselors where I live.
  • I get overwhelmed easily so I'm not very good with keeping up with commenting, but do enjoy reading and following along. Just wanted to say hi ☺️
  • Thank you for all the tips and welcomes. I think I'll get the hang of it. I'm Sheri and I live in rural southern Ohio on 13 acres (mostly woods). I'll be 63 in Dec, and am originally a California girl, with a brief stop in Arizona, then here. It's been a culture and weather shock, but my husband is amazing so I'm staying…
  • @Machka9 Mostly nutrition and exercise information. Also I've struggled with eating disorders and body image all my life, so my idea of what I should weigh/look like may be quite unreasonable. I've looked at registered dietitians' websites and Instagram accounts (when I used to use IG), and that hasn't been helpful either.…
  • @deadenddiva I still have my thyroid but I do take levothyroxine, although I've been taking it for decades so I'm probably not much help. I'm tired of only seeing young, fit, and attractive photographs of people on the MFP blogs and exercise articles. What other resources do you use for "normal" women our age? Feeling a…
  • Hi :) I'm in Ohio and am tired of only seeing young, fit, and attractive photographs of people on the MFP blogs and exercise articles. What other resources do you use for "normal" women our age?
  • linnieaikens I lived in Southern California for about 35 years, then Santa Clara, CA. I had to move to AZ to get away from an abusive ex, and that was a huge shock to my system. I missed the beach and greenery so much. I now live in Southern Ohio, which was another big change for me - very rural, huge culture shock, but my…
  • @Snowflake1968 It's nice to know other people get stressed at thought of meal planning!
  • For decades, my blood pressure has seemed related to my weight. I'm looking at the DASH diet, and I take a multivitamin for seniors :| that was recommended by my doctor. My "normal" BP has been 145/90ish for quite a long time. My doctor isn't happy, but it could be related to a couple antidepressants I take. When it hit…
  • JFT Thursday, October 15 * keep trying * plan strength/core exercises * remember to look around during walk, not just at the ground * stay away from mindless phone games * meal planning (very difficult for me) * laundry * organize tea cabinet
  • I hate those giant red numbers!!
  • I'm fairly new to participating in a community, but it looks like it would be quite helpful. I've enjoyed reading some of the posts here, I'll post more when I get a bit more comfortable. (I'm not very skilled with peopleing :# )
  • This sounds great. I like the idea of exercising outside, I walk outside but it never occurred to me to exercise too. Sounds like it would be much more pleasant. I have a low weight kettle ball and I think a couple very low weight tiny dumbells. I'll look online and see what I can do.
  • I'm 63 and live in Ohio. Body image and eating disorders have always been a struggle. My mom was a clothing designer, and my abusive ex expected a trophy wife. So the results of that, along with depression and anxiety, have added CPTSD to my list of "issues." It's very difficult for me to have a realistic idea of how much…
  • I'll be 63 Dec 23, and I only feel that old when I look in the mirror! I really try to only look in the mirror to make sure I don't have spinach in my teeth and my clothes aren't inside out. :# My mother used to say she always felt like she was 18. Somedays I feel "old" but most of the time I really don't.
  • I'm 62, and am frustrated because it seems like all the MFP articles are geared towards younger athletic types. It's disheartening to only see pictures of young "perfect" woman. This seems to be a problem throughout the web, even when I search for 50+ or 60+ nutrition and fitness, all those women are also at peak fitness.…
  • I'm 60 and have bipolar disorder. I was doing well until a major depressive episode hit as well as some health problems. All my hard work and good habits flew out the window. Now I'm entering that unhealthy stage so I need to do something. It seems like I've been on one diet or another my whole life, and I'm very resistant…
