My general practitioner is a big proponent of functional medicine. Interesting that one of the triggers is food poisoning. We certainly came home with something akin to that on our visit to Uzbekistan, which seemed to have triggered the whole mess, from eye issues right down to foot issues. However, it’s passed now, and…

Hi @kao1 It’s very easy to do. Here’s how. First, the other person must send you a Friend Request and you have to accept it. Their diary must be set to privacy setting visible “friends” or “all”. Go to the main menu and open your friend List. Go through the list and find your friend. Click on the little journal emblem. If…

And welcome To MFP @pitnerm107 !

If you can afford it, invest in a tracker. Mine (Apple Watch) automatically distinguishes a more energetic flow class versus a more relaxed one versus a yin class and records a much more accurate estimate of calories burned. If you’re relying on MFP, it’s kind of one size fits all. There can be quite a difference between…

Ps: Their stir fry kits are in a separate location in most groceries my Lidl and Kroger have them in a completely different area than the Taylor salad bowls.

I absolutely love their apple walnut chicken salad bowl but I usually dump it on top of a large serving of lettuce and stir it up so their delicious dressing hits all corners. Check their stir fry kits, too. I add dry-browned chicken. Their teriyaki sauce isn’t high cal, But sometimes I substitute a little honey-ginger…

Don’t worry about macros for a long while yet. Instead, focus on learning to weigh accurately and log well. I found that as I focused on calories, that caused me to make better food choices, which caused macros to improve. Once I had a grip on the basics, I could allow myself the luxury of focusing on macros- and now with…

I wouldn’t go out and buy it, since I’m personally a frothed milk fan but in a pinch it was fine.

I don’t know if this qualifies as disordered thinking. It probably does. I was so heavily invested in Low Cal!!!!! thinking that the thought never even occurred to me. How insanely stupid is that? I’m going to investigate “normal” coffee syrups. coincidentally, I was craving a Diet Coke at the museum today and treated…

I was all about the middles. Couldn’t have cared less about the rest. 🤷🏻♀️

On a more immediate note, what can you do to keep your hands too busy to go to your mouth? My go to is to get up and take a walk, or work on a craft, or even go vacuum something that doesn’t need it. Just move something besides your jaws. Simple but effective.

Some stresses can be removed, as simple as it sounds. Whether it’s a job, a friend or boyfriend, evaluate if the stress created is equal to the return in satisfaction. I’m old enough to be your grandma. When it reached the point my husband called my circle of friends “The Bitter Divorcees Club” and jokingly asked when he…

I second seeking help from a dietician. Look for one who is very familiar with MFP. My original dietician is the one who told me to use MFP. I did a dietician visit, with her replacement, for the first time in several years about a month ago. The new one was so familiar with NFP, she asked me for my phone, scrolled back in…

Also suggest the NSV thread, pinned to the top of the Success Stories board. NSV means NonScale Victory. I’ve read every single one of those thousands of posts. That thread more than any other was responsible for helping me see change the scale didn’t show.

My feeling is, in general but not always, if someone is posting on the community boards, they’re either asking for, or dispensing advice. The nature of the boards is to do both. I’m super grateful for all the advice I got here, even a couple that came acrost as “boy, you sure are a dumb *kitten*.” Sometimes that tone of…

Doggone it! I just realized that the package of Carb Counter soft tortillas I use as a wrap almost every day says “allulose” on it. I’m not a chemist. I tried to google and understand. Is it, or is it not, a sugar substitute? Next up, will check the label on the Lewis bread for any surprises, too. It never occurred to me…

No, it’s not. When I was obese, I was super prickly and sensitive and negative. After eliminating some job and extended family issues and losing weight, my prickles mostly fell off and I had a total attitude reversal. If people give me advice now, I absorb anything that might be worth listening to or investigating further,…

If you’ve been logging honestly and accurately since you joined in October, then your calories are either set too high, you’ve got logging issues, or exercise credit is too high and you’re eating back more exercise calories than you should be. Are you logging every day? Every bite? You’ve lost zero versus not losing as…

I guess so you’ll know it’s got junk food and isn’t too healthy? After all, what kids gonna want 11grams (!!!!) of TikTok healthy and necessary but highly processed protein if there’s not some junk food to offset all that goodness?

Being consumed by food, instead of the proper way round. Deep, that.

Props to them for being able to play! Or should that be,”play this way?”?

Listings are crowdsourced, aka, garbage in, garbage out If you’re not happy, create your own food entry. I do it all the time. Sometimes you’re batting 1,000 finding accurate entries, sometimes you either grit your teeth and make new entries, or deal with a gram or two here, ten calories there. Same on any calorie counting…

My dad used to alter songs …. “Pardon me boys, is that the cat that chewed your new shoes” was a particular favorite of the grandkids. I dare you to erase that from your brain now. But, to his credit, he didn’t slow them down and turn them into dirges.

My crabby 60’s and up comment for the day lol

Bump! Is it just me……or is this new youthful trend of taking old songs and doing them super slow, dreamy, indie style supremely irritating? Several of our yoga instructors have moody versions of “Ring of Fire” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” on repeat. I want to claw my ears out. There’s others that play occasionally,…

And, as for “grandma depression” look at it this way. You have two cups sitting on the counter. You can choose to continue pouring your energy into the depression cup, or choose to start a fresh cup and direct your energy to filling that one. Starting today, neither is half empty or half full. They just are.

That was me, Ann. I’m nothing special. If I can do this, you can do it. Just weigh and log honestly and stick to your (reasonable, not “fast fix”) calorie goal. Add in some walking, and find something else you love doing. It gets easier and fun-ner as your weight diminishes. It takes patience and diligence, but you, too,…

The doughnut shop had all my favorites this morning: Mexican hot chocolate, Sweet Joe, raspberry pepper. But a friend is bringing baklava for the Super Bowl. I left with just the usual apple fritter. It was haaaaaaard to do. 🥹

Now what? Honey, you increase to maintenance but continue on like you still have five pounds to lose. Logging, weighing, recording, watching. It’s when you slack off and relax that it comes back on.
