Exercise: two short walks Food: B'fast: mini-bagels with Laughing Cow cheese, tea with half and half L: green salad and half a bowl of VERY salty chicken and rice soup from my work's cafeteria S: baked sweet potato and round steak, hummus and baby carrots on the side Ate enough calories so MFP wouldn't tell me off again.

Spa day! Or a trip to see an old friend when you lose a significant amount of weight. I made a chart a few years back with set rewards for each 10 lbs lost. They got more impressive the more I lost.

Workout: 30 min walking / running; later an 8 min. walk with the dog; still later 90 minutes of handing out candy at my church's Trunk or Treat. I know standing around doesn't really burn calories, but it wore me out! Food: banana-spinach-chocolate protein powder smoothie in the morning; Tropical Cafe peanut paradise…

Got up early, went to the gym, spent 30 or so minutes on the treadmill, with 12 of them being running at a 5 mph pace. The rest was walking at a 5% incline, 3 mph pace, or walking at 3.5 mph, little to no incline. Ten minutes of stretching, a whirlwind trip to the grocery store on my way home, then getting my kids out the…

First, congrats on your new baby! Nursing is a big calorie burner all by itself. Keep water and a snack nearby--I always got so thirsty. My second baby weighed 10 lbs and I realized pretty quickly I wasn't keeping up with her demand for milk. I've seen online that it's just a placebo, but for me, fenugreek capsules helped…

You should get into cycling, Ann, for the days you aren't rowing. :)

This thread makes me so happy. I've done three triathlons, all sprint distance, and your 60-90 minutes was my 2 hours, I'm sure. My most recent one was summer 2023. Then, I had a health crisis and surgery almost a year ago, so I've been out of racing for 2024. That did not stop me from following the Ironman race in Kona…

Thanks, @AnnePT77: I flatter myself on being a sensible, practical person. Until, you know, I'm not. :) I followed the men's Ironman in Kona on Saturday and saw / read about plenty of elites struggling. Kristian Blummenfelt, an amazing triathlete, projectile vomited like 8 times on the bike. One guy finished the swim in…

Actually, I was imagining getting to 4.5 or 5% and being totally out of breath after a minute. I'll just be content to dream about a 12% incline. For now. ;) Also, I'm going to do the 2nd week of my C25K plan again. Maybe I'll repeat every week two or three times before moving forward.

Last few weeks: too much of everything--work, food, Dr. Pepper. @ninerbuff, I joined a dietbet two weeks ago after you mentioned it in a post. I'm going to really have to get it in gear to make the first month's goal by Nov. 7/8th.

Huh. Male behavior at the gym = explained.

Sorry to hear you've got something, @AnnPT77 --here's hoping it goes away soon. I would LOVE to see a squirrel swimming. If I get brave enough, I'll try to video myself using the rowing machine to get your feedback. This may require a couple of months' wait, tbh.

@nossmf: All you say is true, but I'm still going to see how high an incline I can get to the next time I'm at the gym!

Today's workout involved 30 minutes of walking around campus (morning light, beautiful fall colors, finally) with my dog. We headed down to the rugby pitch and watched the first part of the match. Now those guys were getting in a workout! Yesterday: I've started a C25K six weeks' training plan, which may be too ambitious…

I've decide to do a couch-to-5K six week running program. Today I jogged on the treadmill at 5 mph for 12 minutes total (4 sets of 3 min. each), with 3 min. of walking at 3.5 mph in between.

That was a crazy story about the boat breaking apart! I've wished Anne could come to my gym and double check my form on the rower. Most people I see use it are doing it wrong (according to youtube videos by pro rowers). I *think* I'm doing it right, but could use some little tweaks, probably.

I used to do Dietbets. Sure they're gimmicky, but when I wasn't motivated by health reasons alone money did the trick. Six years ago I lost 40 pounds (over a two year time span) and the first 30 lbs off were due to DB.

I got in a 75 minute walk with a friend yesterday. It was hot (low 90s) so my dog only lasted the first 8 minutes or so. We dropped her off at the house and continued on!

I really like eating carbs and sugar. There, I said it. Gotta get those protein grams up. Smoothies with protein powder are great, right? That pudding pie is delish . . . and after this I'm going to use the extra milk for potato soup. No more puddings for awhile. LOL.

Why thank you! I'm feeling better every week and somehow the temperature dropping from mid-90s to mid-70s has helped my distance quite a bit.
-
A short walk with the dog early on, then 40 minutes mid-day out in the gorgeous, nearly fall weather here in NW Arkansas.
-
Exercise: nearly an hour of walking today (it is gorgeous outside). This is a huge leap forward in terms of minutes I've been able to walk over the past months. True, it was broken up into three segments, but I'm happy. Food: rice pudding with raisins (B); salad followed by rice pudding with coconut (L); venison steaks and…

I like both those book ideas. @nossmf -- guess what ads I'm seeing today? Ones for books, including The Tiger's Curse that I mentioned here (and only on this thread) yesterday. They are watching {creepy voiceover here}.

That's a breath-taking view. And what a great feeling to know that you are older--and much more fit than your younger self.
-
Thank you! I feel like I just got a hug through the internet. :)

Yesterday I got in a walk of about 23 minutes with my dog. Our pace was around 3 mph. I haven't managed a walk that long since probably my 3rd or 4th chemo cycle. Now that I'm finished with that mess, my hopes are high for making a comeback in terms of amounts of exercise I can do.

My area is 18th-19th c. British. Novels mainly. Jane Austen especially. Are you working on a fantasy novel? That's exciting! Here's what I know about publishing: you can self-publish with Amazon, a kindle book kind of thing, and you'll make a higher percentage of the profits (around 40-50%) compared to the traditional book…

Worked in my office from 7 am until noon. I'm finalizing an article (on an 1820 Gothic novel ) that will come out in a journal in a few months. I'm a literature prof, in case anyone was curious. :) There's just no time during the week for this type of extracurricular activity. My lab came with me for company. The…

Being dragged out for a walk with DH and son right now . . . (15 min. later) So two short walks again today. Meals: cheese grits and a donut at work; 7 pieces sushi; one beef taco and extra lettuce; 2 Ghiradelli dark chocolate squares. 1800ish calories.

2 short walks for exercise. Meals: Cheese grits; grocery store sushi; homemade granola; spaghetti with meat sauce; one square of chocolate and three Brazil nuts.
