Difficult question as I skipload even when I’m Cutting for a show so a lot of cheat food is allowed during that window,so I guess I’d have to choose something that isn’t like chocolate or maybe a full English breakfast

I only track plain water but there’s no reason you can’t count things like coffee, yes it has an extremely mild diuretic effect but it’s so small it’s not even worth worrying about

Agree with the above you need to create a bigger calorie deficit, I would keep both cardio and weights in and if at all possible separate the two, cardio am weights in the evening as neither session suffers as much in its intensity that way running to the gym if your going to train legs with weights will mean you can’t hit…

As others have said I would recomp then see where your at as you could look very different after a few months recomp but if you do go the bulk route I would start very slowly and give it time before you assume your not gaining and up calories further, each time your weight gain stalls for a couple of weeks re adjust…

Hi competitive bodybuilder based in the uk feel free to add me

Anyone can build a good body but whatever you do in the gym is only going to be as effective as your nutrition allows,so get the diet nailed then the training and the rest, without those 3 things you’ll never progress as well as you could, my advise if you have the funds is get a coach to get you started and a good one. The…

If your looking at a 3 day split I would look at PPL style split my own preferred training splits are DC training in the off season and Dr Scot Stevenson’s fortitude training in a prep phase but neither are suitable for beginners,if you’ve built a strength base using 5x5 then PPL would be a good choice and the switch in…

It’s very possible and having a fast metabolism makes gaining extremely hard but it can be done,my off season calories peaked at 7300 a day and that’s clean food which means a lot of eating,my advice would be to add another 300 a day and go from there obviously your maintenance calories increase as you gain weight so have…

Just bulk until your happy with what you have gained unless your competing then obviously your working to a time frame I personally bulk eating clean foods and don’t let body fat get over 16-17% then go into show prep which time wise last time was a 20 week prep.when bulking don’t just whack loads of surplus calories in…

I would say to a good off season bulk first the problem with rushing to compete is you’ll gain very little muscle if any in a prep so you’d waste 16-20 weeks in a prep when you could be adding more size and then compete late next year
-
Is it the start of your bulk? If so how many calories above maintenance have you started out with?

Always weigh in same time of day ideally first thing in the morning before any food or fluid, but even so weight gain or loss isn’t linear it will always fluctuate slightly down to a few factors including, sleep, holding water, stress levels and obviously if your female periods so just relax and look at the weight trend over…

I would say on a normal day over 500 but I’m part of skip hills approved trainers program so I use a form of loading called skiploading on myself and my clients,so I will skipload once a week on those days my calories are much higher so are carbs

Hi I’m also in the UK
-
I was 97kg before my cut and 87kg on stage so very slow
-
I use a combination of the mirror and scales to track progress and take pictures in the same lighting every Friday morning. Off season calories peaked at 7300 a day and gradually dropped through prep, they were 4000 a day before my qualifier and now 5 weeks out from the Universe I’m down to 3400, I will then reverse diet…

I’m deep into a cut been in prep for 25 weeks with 5 weeks to go, I did do a comp about 5 weeks ago so cut for 20 weeks for that one, I prefer a slow cut to limit the chance of muscle loss,my training changes in prep from DC style training off season to Fortitude style in a prep, I didn’t do any cardio for last comp but…

43 feel free to add me,started training at 39 and started competing as a bodybuilder last year taking second at national finals and this year qualified for the Universe..... we are never too old. Not really used MyFitnessPal for much other than working bits and pieces out but will start using it for my own nutrition from…

The way I approached it from the off was to cut first and see what actual muscle I had and then slowly bulk for about 3 years, as others have said bulking and staying lean is painfully slow also your diet and training need to be bang on,I then starting to compete as a bodybuilder did 2 shows then did a full off season bulk…
