  • My cheat meals have to do with macro-nutrients instead of calories. So on those days I don't worry about salt/sugar content and fat to a lesser extent. Doctor is fine with it as long as it's once or twice a month. Weight gain is not permanent.
  • Our satellite company is in a pi$$**g match with the owners of the channel that airs the game right now so the channel has been dropped. I can't believe it :s
  • I'm a lot like you so I don't have it in the house. If it's in the house I will eat it and not just one. Recently if I plan to have a treat, I buy just one treat. If I plan a dessert after dinner, I throw out the dessert that hasn't been eaten the next morning. This works for me, I consider it a reward and I don't do it…
  • Rockaway Beach, Oregon. I love the ocean and Rockaway is a small town with long beaches.
  • Try to drink more water, up to mid-60's ounces a day. When I started drinking more water I had to pee all the time and yes it's frustrating. It finally eased up, maybe my body got used to the amount or flushed itself? I then started to slow up the water at night so I wouldn't have to get up in the middle of the night,…
  • 1500 calories a day. Most of the time I am under, sometimes I go over. I reached my goal and then lost 5 more pounds, I have been holding that steady since October.
  • one of my favorite sayings!!! B)
  • I threw away the rule book and broke the fun meter B)
  • My bras and underwear are too big by a few sizes!
  • Pearl
  • Anymore desserts are the best thing about Thanksgiving for me. I cook a simple turkey dinner without all the lavish sides. But omg the pie! That's the kicker for me but I will have pie, apple crisp actually, my favorite.
  • I too was treated like a "hypochondriac" by my several GPs for over 3 years, even after it was discovered (finally) that I have hypothyroid. I was prescribed the lowest dose of med, which is usual to begin with, but considered cured after that regardless of my symptoms. I finally found a doctor that didn't make me feel bad…
  • Like you, my doctor asked me to limit my sodium intake due to high bp. It was a new way of cooking/eating/grocery shopping and took a few months for me to get good at it. Once I figured it out my bp rapidly went down to normal but then my weight just started to come off without really trying. I was focused on that sodium…
  • This sets me off and then I do judge. I keep my mouth shut but I choose not to associate with a person like that.
  • I looked into it and it's a behavior modification approach. Not worth it, you do that yourself here by logging, weighing, gaining understanding of nutrition and applying it to your daily lifestyle. Bam, for free ;)
  • My hunger adjusted finally, it took a while, a few months. I decided that I like to eat all I want at times without counting things out. So I stock and use what I call 'free choice' food, it's all fresh fruit and vegetables but it works for me when I get that way. It's been over a year now and I seldom get that craving to…
  • Do you like fresh fruit or can you have it? Apples, bananas, oranges, grapes and strawberries are good because there is no prep. I call it 'finger food' because I can just pop them in my mouth and you have the fiber you are needing. I also eat raw veggies that way and include a fresh salad with most of my dinners. I also…
  • Let me rewrite your script for you: "Anyone just decide to give up? Everyday I fail and I fail and yet the sun still rises. I have so much stress in my life and food has become my crutch. I promise myself to throw away the crutch and try every day.....try....try...and try again. Some days I feel like it is hopeless, but I…

  • fresh strawberries
  • "find the USDA entries that will have many different options" this is what I do since someone here recommended it to me. It's very useful.
  • I will eat a whole avocado for breakfast with a spoon right out of the skin. I don't use salt or pepper, just the avocado, but I like that and eat most fresh foods that way.
  • Working on significant weight loss (congrats on the 50lbs!) and ongoing health issues is overwhelming and at this time seems insurmountable to you. I admire that you don't want to quit the dieting and applaud your resolve. I don't think the diet is the root to your depressed feelings. Maybe you should be more demanding…
  • I use to drink heavily and when I did I was out of control in that I didn't stop until I couldn't drink anymore....that night. When I finally stopped (I was in college and couldn't afford it and felt sick and rundown all the time) I went from 167+ to 120 in 4mos, no dieting. That was the first time, I was in my mid-20's.…
  • Oatmeal with tsp of chia seeds, tsp brown sugar, tsp nutritious yeast and all the cinnamon topping I want. I have this almost every morning, no dairy.
  • I freeze mine because I buy them in large packages. I thaw a pack in the fridge and they will keep for up to 8 weeks. The flavor is good, no mold, no stale taste ever.
  • I am down 20lbs and passed my gw without trying! I have cheekbones now and my eyes are larger? All my pants are baggy and I need a belt. I'm wearing pants that have been in my closet for at least 3 years that I never thought I would wear again...and they are baggy! I'm not sure what size of clothing I wear anymore :) My…
  • I had a total hysterectomy at age 38 and been on HRT ever since. I'm 63 and am just now cutting back on the HRT but no issues. I loved it from the first day and never looked back, for all the good reasons that have already been posted. My life was simplified, what more could you ask?
  • Just gravitate to those that use photos and add lots of personal stuff if that's what you are after. Ignore everyone else if it displeases you.
  • Get an appointment with a nutritionist at your local hospital. You are young, growing and have a thyroid issue. A nutritionist can address all those combined with a proper nutritious diet. You sound motivated, good luck.
  • Try adding more protein, especially at breakfast. Eggs, greek yogurt, I will eat avocado at breakfast. What I have started doing recently is adding more calories at breakfast, I feel more satisfied as well as better overall. I have gone from avg 300cals to 400-450. This is working for me, I am also at 1200cal/day since…
