  • I could do it easily Start the day with some cream crackers, around 4 or 5, absolutely slathered in peanut butter, add some jam to some of them too. The reason for crackers rather than bread is that the crackers wont fill you up as much as hunks of bread. Half a jar (lets be sensible here) is around 1300 cals, the crackers…
  • Someone has probably already mentioned this as I havent read the whole thread but what is the ratio of your good cholesterol to your bad cholesterol
  • Ah this is one of my goals for when Im around 220ish next year hopefully, that I can get a wetsuit. I still wont be able to fit into one in the UK though and anticipate that I have to order from america. I will have to get one in 2 parts.
  • I think I would be considered a lazy logger (as I have seen it referred to here) I dont tend to weigh most packaged goods, I use the weight it says on the packaging or the calories it says a slice has or a thing has. So if it says its 200g of houmous, thats what I count it as. Other things I pop on the scale such as a…
  • In terms of food enjoyment, please dont go to chains. It will reassure you of the myth that the UK has crap food. If you must go to chains, please dont go to harvester. Or a wetherspoons.
  • Well just to update, I have now had a pound decrease in the weight record. Im going to stay away from the scale now for a week I think!
  • Actually a big shame for me with this weight loss is that I dont really cook from scratch any more as I am a taster, a slosher, a nibbler, a chucker in of things. If I made for 4 people I would end up eating it all. I need small portioned ready prepared stuff. Its a shame but its how it works for me.
  • I wish I could blame it on that, but Ive never blamed it on anything other than me over eating, eating too much in terms of portion size while believing to myself it was a reasonable portion. I have seen that booklet before and used it in the past. Size is deceiving, its less accurate than the inaccurate calorie…
  • Of course calorie counting is not 100% accurate, unless you're carrying around a science lab with you all day you're not going to know what you're expending or intaking to that level of accuracy. But the hand portion thing/eye balling thing/ guesstimating thing is a recipe for disaster. Its why someone like me has got to…
  • How do they suggest people keep track of what their intake is?
  • Yes I know, the other poster was saying that if you count 4074 servings for the whole pot and then weigh your meal when you eat it, your bowlful or whatever, then input the weight of your bowlful as the number of servings you have. But I can only see that working if there are 4074grams in the total crock pot and say you…
  • Thank you. I have to keep focused and ignore what Im seeing on the scale. Im in my late 40s now and have been fat all my life, my skin is ruined from it, but it will kill me if I dont do anything now and get rid of this. In the past this scale thing would have just had me throwing the towel in and I cant do that. Its…
  • I suppose you could view it like medicine. A treatable but chronic condition needs ongoing medicine. You might stop taking your medicine and get on ok for a while but then you'd start getting ill (putting on weight), so you have to go back to taking the medicine. Tiresome yes, necessary yes.
  • Wouldnt that only work if the entire crock pot meal weighs 4074grams?
  • Just had to comment you look no where near 60!
  • In not tired of the logging, this may change in the long term of course, Im only a couple of months in. What Im tired of is that I might reach to grab something, either out of the cupboard, off the desks at work where people leave food, in a shop etc where normally in the past something for hundreds of calories would be…
  • God me too, its definitely 10g.
  • Well I weighed myself this morning, still swelled up like a balloon but back down to 266lbs. So no recorded weight loss but the water getting less hopefully. I dont think body measurements would be that helpful to me the way I swell up. My whole body is bloated, my wrist is so much bigger that my bracelet is not moving…
  • Well I took LyndaBSS' advice and have drunk a glass of water. I will keep trying. Yes Im also really achy from some activity at the weekend
  • That is very intersting, I am sunburnt, although it came on Saturday rather than before the 'fluctuation'!
  • I will try but unless Im thirsty I cant really swallow it or get it down me, its a bit of a problem really. Ive got a nice cup of tea in front of me now I didnt even bother weighing today, my ankles are massive so theres plenty of water sloshing round which would make the scales be even more depressing!
  • Right, Ive just been having an experiment in the kitchen Mini naan - meant to be 67g, actual weight 50g wholemeal pitta x 5, each one weighed 50-55g, meant to be 60g packets of lentils/quinoa flavoured in packets of 250g each x 3 - 2 of them weighed 225, the other one around 240g sandwich filler egg mayonnaise - 200g -…
  • Well slices of bread are something that I would weigh as I cant see how they are standard myself. Im fairly at the beginning of what Im doing perhaps I will need to be more vigilant as time goes on. I personally (from years of counting many years ago) have found that here packages are usually underweight, its often a…
  • https://www.gov.uk/weights-measures-and-packaging-the-law/packaged-goods I cant make head nor tail of this or whether items can be more or not here, I think it means they can?
  • No I didnt weigh the beans. Its interesting to know that over there they can be off by 20% is that over and under? I need to investigate that here.
  • Doesnt that depend on what the food is and the entry though? For example I have just put on some baked beans, they come in a microwavable 'snack pot' as they call it. The calories on the packaging are the same as on the entry on here, but the entry here just says '1 pot rather than a weight'. As long as the calorie amounts…
  • Just as the first ones I found, these are pork and chilli sausages and have less 'carbs' in them than your butcher has analysed and the calories in those are 259 per 100g Is there a reason why he deems it guilt free (although I hate that sort of phasing)? Is it because they have less meat/fat per 100g than supermarket ones…
  • Thank you, yes this is exactly what has happened, this all makes sense to me having read quite a lot of the threads and information, although for years of course I knew about water retention and my period I didnt even know that men had this too and women would also get it for other reasons. So over the years when Ive seen…
  • Yes I am terrible at liquid intake. I just dont get thirsty and dont like drinking liquids. Im having some water now.
