  • No that particular day was sort of drinking and eating from mid afternoon drinks and nibbles then out to dinner with lots of cocktails, more nibbles and then the meal.

  • I seem to be eating much bigger calorie amounts for meals out than the rest of you! I am quite greedy though. I also like to overestimate, although perhaps its not over estimating. I had 5800 the other week on a day out. Terrible. Its not every week though.

  • Well I am now in my 14th week and Im finding that my pattern is that I am virtually static for about 3-4 weeks at a time and then one week where 4-5lbs fall off. Thats this week. Virtually a months weight loss shows in that one week. Its weird isnt it?
  • Yep, me too (not in hospital) but when the symptoms are bad, have to stick to a 'white diet' for a while to give myself a rest. I also suffer from IBS and fibre is shocking for it.
  • Is this about 2.5lbs a week, or is my maths off?
  • Im reading the reviews for that book. 17 quid to tell me that its high in fat, blah blah blah. Not only that but he seems to go on about the 'dairy industry' but people have been eating cheese from before there was a dairy industry so I dont really agree that they are villains as such. Cheese was invented (discovered) as a…
  • You could lose 4lbs in 11 days by being extremely hungry. The first meal at the airport/on the plane/at the resort and it'll come straight back because it wont be actual weight loss.
  • You're right except for if you do a google search, say 'pineapple calories', it often brings up the nutrition on this site/fatsecret etc etc, all of these sites are filled with user inaccuracies so yes, do a google search but be careful where the information has come from
  • Surely its only aggressive if its a big proportion of the OPs weight? If I lose at 2lb a week (I wish) then it wouldnt even be 1% of my body weight. I wouldnt consider that aggressive.
  • Well its free to use so I dont think you're going to get a gold service I double check everything and believe very little. Never use anything that is 'home made' (unless its your own recipe of course, Ive got loads of my own) and dont use 'servings' or cups, use weights by 100g and put in the weight you have used, like 1.1…
  • Yes grating is best because I notice that I can still have the occasional cheese on toast, 50g is quite generous for 2 slices of bread, so I can put some little cherry toms sliced on top, some thin slices of spring onion, some chilli flakes and some oregano and it feels substantial and thats about 450 cals. Not too bad
  • I love cheese, I eat around 25g a time if I have it. well sometimes 50g.
  • I think in the UK people look down on tinned foods. Not me, I find that if you get the right ones, they are so convenient. I cant remember if its Tesco or Asda but one of them does a beef rogon josh tinned curry which is so good. Cheap too. Mind you I would never buy tinned veg, that really is minging.
  • You can get whole watermelons here but personally I find them awkward for storing in the fridge and difficult to maneuver around the worktop when cutting up

  • Yes soup and tinned foods like beef stew, hot pot, irish stew, chicken in white sauce, etc etc. Curries in a tin (ok, nothing like home made but its only for 10 days). I have a thermos food flask and during winter, I pop a tin in the microwave at home (not in the tin obviously), then put it hot in my food flask. The reason…
  • Its not just the cleaning of it, its walking out there, seeing a ton of mess and quite frankly it would just put me off trying to prepare and cook food. I'd walk out again. Its not pleasant. I think I would just buy pre packed salads/foods with calorie counts on them, write it all down and do your best and just log when…
  • Sounds as if its a shared hostel/house thing and then people are using the kitchen, leaving a load of stuff everywhere, not clearing up after they prepare something and so OP goes out there to try to prepare some food, is met with mess and doesnt feel like doing anything. I would feel the same
  • Jacket potatoes (microwave) Grilled meats in the grill Grilled veg in the grill or on the hob if you dry fry them Pasta and rice with sauces and curries you cook up Soups
  • What on earth is 'low sugar orange juice', sounds horribly processed to me. Im always under on my sugar levels but way way over on the fat. Why dont you just have milk in your coffee, what is all this 'coffee creamer' stuff, again sounds processed. Processed breakfast cereal nearly always has added sugar, even though most…
  • What have you got? Hob? Microwave? Slow cooker? This all affects what you can cook
  • So when you say sugar, you mean biscuits/cakes? What about bread, pasta etc? Personally I have to stay away from the above mentioned within some parameters. I do eat some bread now and then but find it comes in waves and I eat more when Ive had some. It affects my cravings. I think what you're experiencing with your pain…
  • What about if you only visit them two weekly but them have them visit in between weekly so then you only have to deal with the high carbs every fortnight and then when they come to yours you're in control of your intake
  • I love Persian food. Why dont you ask her (encourage her) to do you things like houmous, aubergine dip (baba ganoush or mtabbal), muhmmara, labneh, all of them are not high in carbs, but she will prepare them with bread probably which is a bit tricky, then ask her to do the kebabs/meat stews but only have a little bit of…
  • 200g???
  • Crikey, thats a lot.
  • How many litres is a gallon?
  • East kent. Very hot here today
  • You must have been very unlucky, I have never eaten anywhere in the UK or europe where water has been refused, in fact in the UK you need to ask for it but in europe they tend to just bring it out as part of the service, even if you're just having a coffee.
  • Cinnamon can get you high too (I read)
