Isn't it interesting how people vary. Same height, weight, BMI. 20 years older. Wear size 4 pants (occasional 2), pretty much XS (sometimes S) in everything else. I probably need to strength train more.

You already got great advice above. Just wanted to say congrats on your weight loss so far!

Isn't TDEE only accurate for someone who has extremely consistent exercise and daily activity? My Fitbit can accommodate the seasonal variation or different daily life activity variations better than a method that assumes that every day/week/month is identical. I find it to be fairly accurate based on the past 1.5 years,…

If you have a medical team, I would absolutely consult with them! Some behaviors that could be helpful: (1) Be deliberately casual about tracking. I have mild OCD, so I sorta planned out in advance the level of tracking food that I felt would make it possible to meet my goal without spiraling into obsession. (2) Plan in…

I haven't had alcohol (or soda or coffee or juice or ...) in years due to GERD. I used to like Yuengling or a nice toddy. Nowadays, I drink water, Tazo passion tea, and propel sticks (mostly berry which tastes the best). My stomach is okay with those.

Have you had a medical evaluation on the joint pain? For example, in my case, I had significant joint and muscle pain about 5 years ago. Along with a check for autoimmune disorders my doc ran a Vitamin D test and it was crazy low (close to zero) even though I got plenty of sunlight in the south US. Not saying that's your…

We used to eat out once a week, usually Saturday lunch. Plus the pretty occasional lunch out with coworkers or friends (maybe 4-8 times a year for each of us). And perhaps 1-2 times a month we would get snacks out (ice cream, Starbucks, etc). Also lots of food out on vacations, of course. At first last spring, we tried to…

Is the new diet designed to address a particular health condition? If not, I would think that what worked for you so far is a better option. If yes, was this doctor trained in nutrition counseling like a registered dietitian is? Congratulations on your weight loss and your determination to continue!

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I'm intolerant to stevia, which eliminates Sunwarrior and about half of the other flavored protein powders.

I think there is probably a genetic component. Even when a healthy BMI, my spouse (male) has a waist around 34". I, however, have always had a proportionally small waist for my weight (whether normal BMI or overweight or obese). On the other hand, my cankles are huge even when I'm slim.

I use Garden of Life vegan unsweetened and unflavored to add to smoothies. I've never found a flavored protein powder that I like.

Are you weighing once per week? That's a perfectly valid choice, but it's important to understand that weight fluctuates all the time. I'm 56, in maintenance, and also 5'3". Here's a graph of recent daily weigh-ins. Each dot represents a first thing in the morning in my birthday suit weight. You can see that any particular…

@Speakeasy76 Yesterday, I decided to set my calories on MFP, instead of using their calculation, which is too low. I was concerned that MFP would then change my calorie numbers from Fitbit to compensate (similar to changing activity level would), but I'll need more than one day of data to determine if it does (although…

Does everyone feel that intuitive eating and tracking are mutually exclusive? I'm definitely trying right now to "eat to hunger" as an attempt to finally stop the slow weight loss I've been in since entering maintenance a year ago. But, I still track my food in MFP. Tracking to me has a lot of additional benefits - like…

I would try to mentally compare it to a pint container of ice cream. The place I go is about half a pint for 2 scoops, but they aren't very big cones or particularly generous with the ice cream. They are also not too expensive!

I lost weight on omeprazole because it was pretty poor at controlling GERD symptoms. I would guess if it worked well, that someone might eat more and gain weight. I've been on Dexilant for a couple of years. It does a much better job controlling GERD, although there are still a bunch of foods I can't eat. My GERD is…

I've been maintaining a little over a year. I weigh myself every day, but it's just one step in my morning routine. I also log my food, with about the same precision that I did when losing (probably a B or B+ effort). It gives me info on my nutrition and on my triggers for heartburn, etc, while giving me good data about…

I think they are the same but different packaging. Calories on front are for half of a package.

There are "ready to eat" Miracle Noodle pouches at my local Sprouts (Japanese curry, Pad Thai, etc). Has anyone tried those?

So, does anyone guesstimate the salad plus fixings without the dressing? For example right now in my fridge is the Eat Smart Apple Gouda salad. It had a bag of mixed greens, a little bag with dried apple and gouda and sunflower seeds mixed together, and a bag of dressing. Nutrition info is for all 3 together. I'd love to…

I wish that their websites gave the calorie info without the dressing. I'd be perfectly happy to just replace it with a better option. I don't have any suggestions, sorry. Several stores used to sell the chopped mix without dressing or extras, but those have all vanished. Doing it ourselves would of course be the smarter…

No stevia!! I'll be looking for these!

I can personally speak to what AnnPT77 mentioned. As I approached the end of my dieting time, I started adding an extra 100 calories a month. First month, lost at exactly the same rate as before. Second month, same thing. Third month, again! Not until I was eating 400 calories more did my weight loss slow down. I never…

We generally stick to a serving size of pasta (56 g) and close to a serving size of rice (don't eat rice often, but I think it's about 200 calories). I've found a couple pastas that incorporate beans in them that I use for the extra protein, but I only repeat purchase the ones that have a texture close to regular whole…

For a change of pace, I really enjoyed this easy sheet pan fajita recipe: https://karalydon.com/recipes/sheet-pan-salmon-fajitas/

I've been in maintenance just over a year. I still enter all my food into the app and have no plans to stop. My daily calories are all over the place, but that's mainly due to how hungry I feel and what meals I planned, since they can really vary in calories. I keep track of my average on a monthly basis (via a…

I'm 5'3", 56 years old, and currently weigh in the 117s (maintenance). I lose weight on less than 1700 - 1900 calories (with daily activity and exercise). I'm not even particularly active - mostly a daily walk and everyday chores with a very tiny bit of yoga & strength training thrown in. I would find 1200 calories to be…

Ha! Mid 50s and my skin didn't keep up with even a slow weight loss. I never had that problem when younger.
-
Due to GERD, I don't eat after 7 PM. I would say that as long as it doesn't affect sleep or make it harder to stay in your calorie goal, you can eat at any time that works for you.

We like the green beans the most, but these were good too.
