  • Great job!! Be proud- you earned it!!
  • A lot of good advice here already. I would say find the thing you hate least and keep doing it. As you get better it becomes easier and more fun. Also, find a way to challenge yourself either with time, distance, weight, reps etc. For instance, if you choose walking you can either try to go further, go faster or both- go…
  • I’ve been doing CrossFit for a little over two years. I love it! I started at 57 years like (now 59) and weighing 308 lbs. now I weigh 200-205 lbs and feel like I’m in better shape than I was at 40. Some observations on how to do this safely: - each gym sometimes called a “box” is different. If there are more than one in…
  • I did it at about 300 and no problems. My lack of coordination is what kept me from going to fast and hard anyway but if you’re good at it maybe take it slow in the beginning. Singles understand only
  • I was soooo proud the first time I could do a rope climb at 58 years old!!! Don’t know why this was so significant to me but it doesn’t matter! I felt like a hero in an action movie lol!!
  • Amazing!!! Congrats!!
  • I’m the same. Some people don’t want to eat after workouts but I’m the opposite- I’m starving. I rearranged my day so I workout right before dinner. On weekends I workout in the morning and have some protein (eggs or yogurt etc) immediately afterwards. Seems to be working.
  • I recommend used equipment in your case. In the 80’s I used to ride but then stopped for whatever reasons. In 2000 I started riding again and still had my old bike. I rode about 4000 miles on a 18 year old bike and bought a new bike two years later. Tips: - unless you live near trails buy a road bike or hybrid. Mountain…
  • Hi. Think of it like this... if you worked out 15 times and burned an extra 350 calories per workout- you burned exactly enough to lose 1.5 lbs. On the nutrition side, you don’t mention how much below maintenance you’re at. But likely you should be losing a little faster and will start to soon. Give it a little more time…

  • I like the bike shop idea if you can afford a local shop’s recommendation. I bought a road bike at 275 lbs that was “rated” for 225. The shop owner swapped out the tires for something more heavy duty- said I’d get tons of flats with ordinary tires. I had no problems whatsoever and I love the bike. For city riding at your…
  • Awesome!! Thanks for picking us up and reminding us it can be done!!
  • So sorry to hear this! In my thoughts and prayers.
  • HIIT just means high intensity interval training. This means different things to different people. So obviously Tom Brady and Serena Williams have a different expression of “intensity “ than someone without their ability. But a walk around the living room can be just as high intensity as a half mile sprint for someone else…
  • I’ve never read any of his stuff but I will now! Thanks
  • Along the way I got new clothes And when I hit 100 lbs. I bought a new saddle for my bike!! It’s awesome!! Wish it wasn’t raining today lol!!
  • This!! But nothing else seems to work!! If it wasn’t for late night snacks goal weight would have been easy for me!!
  • My wife and I belong to a small CrossFit gym. It’s generally pretty expensive but worth it to us. They offered to suspend/cancel as needed but up until now only 2 people out of about 200 have taken advantage of it. Both are bartenders and out of work completely. They lent us equipment, offer workouts with video instruction…
  • 308 down to 202.
  • Awesome! Congrats! When I first started losing I used to tell people my first goal was to be overweight lol!!
  • Make a list of friends and family you haven’t spoken to for a while and spend some time catching up. They’ll appreciate the boredom relief too!
  • I sweat when I workout a lot so it’s easy for me to judge. I don’t think the amount of sweat and the intensity of the workout go hand in hand. For instance, I rode my bike hard into the wind today and because bike riding naturally keeps body temperature down, along with the heavy wind I was dry the entire time. But in a…
  • Bicycle!!!! Gets you places and gets you moving!!
  • Booooorrrred!! Lacking motivation for both work and working out. And fighting the snack demons constantly. To be positive though it could be A LOT worse. I keep telling myself “ at least I don’t have any friends or family with the virus or have it myself.”
  • Thanks for the advice!! I opted for two medium weight dumbbells in the end. The rowers were not an option - gym owner was concerned about them breaking in transit. Really I think he just knew everyone would want them and wanted to be fair to all. He only has nine rowers with >200 members. I figure with two 35#dbs I can do…
  • Thanks. I will see if he’ll lend me a concept 2 rower. My wife and I are both members so maybe because at least two people will get the usage out of it, but they only have nine and my guess is that everyone will pick that. They fit in an SUV and are awesome. So right now my plan is to get a 55lb (25 kg) kettlebell and use…
  • I stockpiled my 93 year old mom so that mu siblings and I can stay away from her. She’s not leaving the house and I got her about a three week supply of frozen and shelf stable stuff. Like everyone else, old folks won’t get sick unless someone passes the virus to them, so even though it will be a rough time for her- better…
  • I’m 59 years old and working out 5-6 times a week. I hate the 1-2 days off because The soreness gets worse. For me, the movement makes it better. Even body weight stuff helps. So, for example- if you did weighted squats and your quads or glutes hurt- do some air squats in addition to dynamic stretching.
  • Several things might be happening. - as mentioned already - with gears set too low, you have to pedal too quickly to keep moving. This can wear you out fast. - Setup is likely wrong. There should be a very slight bend in your knee at the bottom of the pedal stroke. - Even with the adjustments of handlebars and seat way…
  • Thanks for this post!! I realized that I didn’t have a mini-goal so I was losing interest and backsliding!! So this is it! My brand new minor-goal. To be under 195 at the end of April. I’m about 202 today so this is doable!!
  • Once or twice a week I put 1 cup of frozen berries with a scoop of whey protein and water in the nutribullet for breakfast. I often use a similar mix for a snack at night. It does keep me full until lunch, but I generally have some fruit for a snack at around 11am. I feel like I get my protein along with some vitamins and…
