  • @rhaychrlz Good morning Ray Ray. Sounds like you are well on your way. One important thing to remember, and I harp on it a lot, is this: Motivation, will-power, and good intentions WILL fail. Thinking of yourself as being on a diet WILL fail. Cutting out major food groups for the long term WILL fail. What works is…
  • Exercise:✅ House cleaning(my job) and walking my dog. Tracked:✅ Yes, and I LIKE doing it! Under:✅ Most definitely. "My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people." ~ Orson Welles

  • @rhaychrlz Hey there Ray Ray. Glad to see you are ready to take control of your health now. Hope you have found all the great resources here easy to navigate. What are you planning to do to get yourself back in shape?
  • Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, Launchpad 1:6 for 25 minutes, 10 sit/stands, 40 mini-crunches :) Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes, in fact, over-guesstimated and had enough calories left to enjoy a scoop of ice cream. :yum: For me the…
  • @ythannah a tiny secret about those grocery store muffins . . . they start out as white or yellow cake mix!
  • Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? yes another walk with Dugan Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? yes just barely Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? yes indeed I did "I had the right to remain silent... but I didn't have the ability." ~ Ron White
  • Before WW changed to the "point" system it actually worked rather well. It gave you a 1200-1600 calorie allowance if you followed the plan (more for men/youths). I could never understand the point system, so it was a bye for me.
  • Well. That fizzled quickly!
  • @WhatMeRunning I totally get that. Self-criticism and humor. It seems that being obese spawns those behaviors, or maybe the lack of self-esteem drives it. I don't really know. It had been years since I actually felt "worthy" of compliments. And humor deflected my discomfort and masked my pain, both emotional and physical.…
  • Actually went on TWO walks today!
  • How do you talk to yourself? No, no, not that kind of talk! I mean, what do you say to yourself when you mess up, or when you do well? Do you treat yourself as nice as you would a stranger that you would like to know? Or do you call yourself names, think of yourself in disparaging terms? Is your best not good enough? So…
  • Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes. Housework, dog walk, Launchpad. Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes, under, actually. Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes. Yes I did! "Every time I get something under control in my own life, the world provides more material." ~ Cathy Guisewite
  • Excellent topic. So many times we view our setbacks as total failures. We make ourselves feel so bad that we give up. Some words of wisdom: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." ~ Winston Churchill
  • Pass Day 1. Let's just leave it at that, shall we. :grimace: "Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon." ~ Doug Larson
  • Breakfast for supper. Over easy eggs sausage toast coffee Yes x 3  "When I buy cookies I eat just four and throw the rest away. But first I spray them with Raid so I won't dig them out of the garbage later. Be careful, though, because Raid really doesn't taste that bad." ~ Janette Barber
  • @shelsalazar congratulations for taking that first step, and getting your doctor on board. Now, the part you need to figure out is: What do I need to help me stay the course? In other words, you ask for help in keeping you accountable. What kind of help would work for you? Do you need someone that is:* your "drill…
  • @Robdsherlock if you want to shape up, look up @ninerbuff. He runs a daily thread for his own exercise and anyone can join in. He is ever so helpful, patient(if you are sincerely trying), and links you to anything he thinks will help you.
  • Hello Diane. I am doing intermittent fasting, 16/8. But I also keep track of calories and the macros for Protein, Fat, Carbs, Fiber, and Sodium. The reason I do IF is because if I eat earlier in the morning then I have an insatiable appetite the rest of the day, almost uncontrollable. If I do not eat until 12 or 1 then I…
  • Snacking. I have to plan my snacks. I actually struggle to get enough calories in. I do need to include more freggies, thus I stocked up on fresh grapes, apples, and mandarin oranges for this week, and the garden is producing grape tomatoes, green peppers, and cucumbers galore. I get carrots in a 5 lb bag. Hoping to…
  • @callsitlikeiseeit I like your approach. I get friend requests from people that don't have a single post on the boards. Don't really trust that. I know it is possible that they just use the tracking aspect, but still . . . Anywho, these days it is more a matter of not investing in "friends" that aren't friends. Don't got…
  • That is an amazing turn around for him. Kudos to his extraordinary dedication to his mission! Sir, we salute you!
  • Y'know, it can be difficult to make changes, but if it REALLY MATTERS to you, you will find the time, the energy, and the motivation to make those changes. I told myself for YEARS that I wanted to lose weight, exercise more, eat healthier, etc. But I didn't DO it. Why? Because I enjoyed eating more than being healthy.…

  • ✅Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, a nice stroll. ✅Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes. ✅ Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat are really good friends.-Bob Hope
  • @stephanieann20 the answer to your question is yes. I struggle with fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, etc. That being said, this board is more about weight, fitness, and health management rather than support for venting. But if you do a search for fibromyalgia you may find there are groups you could join that specifically…
  • I think the horse is dead, can we quit beating it now? :grimace:
  • Yes x3 “To promise not to do a thing is the surest way in the world to make a body want to go and do that very thing.” – Mark Twain
  • @callsitlikeiseeit I bet you got "the look" on the new jeep! Sounds like your guy is a lot like mine in that way. Generosity is ingrained in them. Hope you can find the wherewithal to get your camera. Perhaps a used one that somebody outgrew? My DH is clinging to his old SLR for some reason. But he won't use it because…
