I work for a phone company. I dont include office activity though i move around moderately climbing stairs to coordinate with coworkers. I include walking to and from office and actual running activity as my exercise. I do weight training but dont include it as well.

Before you go to gym, try if you can commit to jog or run regularly. This will cost you only a pair of rubber shoes. Then you will know if your ready to gym :)
