Hi. Not far from 50. Back on a bike for first time in years thanks to lockdown leisure time. Happy to be added.

Wow, excellent.

First ride of June (and first on new tyres) done. 22.32 miles. Bit of a headwind at a few points and weather changeable but still enjoyable. Think I may need to invest in some padded cycle pants though!! One thing I've noticed whenever I ride is that after maybe 5 miles or so I feel like I'm going to struggle but then…

Thanks Nikkiwolf. Nice photo. Glad you still enjoyed the ride despite the weather.

Thanks for the LeonardMLee link, hadn't come across him but have now watched quite a few and subscribed. Nice to have a "normal" persons take on things. Youtube has been really useful in terms of maintenance tips etc. After my last ride on Sunday I decided my 10 or so year old tyres had had enough and were probably a…

Still zero cycling miles in June so far but new tubes and tyres arrived yesterday, now fitted and hoping to head out in the morning.
-
Excellent, well done. No need to be embarrassed, the way I think about it is yep I'm overweight but at least I'm making an effort.
-
Goals for June: Zero cycling so far, waiting for a delivery of new tyres, tubes & brake pads. Hoping to be up and running by Sunday!

Possibly less miles in a month than some of you have done in a day but hey, it's the taking part that counts :) As a newbie / returnee my goal in April and May was 40 miles. June goal is 100 miles. May: 65.78 miles. April: 50.43 miles. March: 6.98 miles. Previous 8 years or so: 0 miles.

Thanks Nikki. Yep, did check the inside of the tyres so all good there but the tyres are the ones that came on the bike so are 10 - 11 years old. They have some tread left but do have some sidewall cracks so probably do need replacing. I've done some basic maintenance but am trying to spend as little as possible as once we…

Thanks Brian.

Another puncture. Figured I'd replace the 10 year old tube but the "Slime" tube I'd bought partially inflated but then would inflate no further and would not deflate. Didn't even get as far as putting it on the wheel. Think the slime had sealed the valve (and being a novice I don't have a valve core removal tool). Will be…

Yep, get that. Very much a leisure and fitness thing for me (guess some of the attraction is also the nostalgia of childhood bike rides). I guess whether it's for leisure, sport, fitness, travel; whether the goal is 200 miles per month, 2 miles per month or mileage is not even recorded the important thing is that there is…

Good Luck. Enjoy!!

Thanks, just joined the Strava group. The photo's on your profile are inspirational :-)

Thanks, appreciated.

Hi, hope you're well. Merseyside here! Feel free to add!

Lockdown and having more free time working from home motivated me to get on my bike for the first time in about 8 years. Compared to other posts here my mileage is really poor, I did 50.5 miles in April and so far 37 miles in May, longest ride is 15 miles but I still feel a sense of achievement given I'm overweight, have…

Hi. I did well with this app a fair few years ago but the life got in the way and the pounds piled on. Renewed focus in lockdown, hoping to use the time to eat better and exercise more :-)
-
Hi everyone. Happy to be added. Doing ok exercise wise but struggling with the tedium of food logging!
-
Hi all. Used MFP about 6 or so years ago to lose some fat and get fit. Recently started again, doing ok on the exercise front but struggling with food (especially with the boredom of lockdown). Happy to be added.

Just joined, start tracking tomorrow. Good luck.

Al. UK, start tracking tomorrow.
